Title: ~Official NFL 2002-2003 Thread~
Post by: SwifDi on September 04, 2002, 10:10:16 PM
Within the next 24 hours folks, the Niners will head on down to New York to start this year\'s NFL season.

I\'m really psyched about the Niners this year. And I like our chances for the ring. I couldn\'t have asked for more when I found out that the Niners opened the season.

Bon Jovi will be introducing the season via song, hopefully he won\'t sing, "Everyday"... *shudders*.....

Fantasy Football and Pro Pick Em\' leagues are all beginning and thats just another additional plus!

Speaking of "pick-em\'s"

I have 3 upset specials (ala Jimmy Kimmel-style) this week:

Broncos over Rams

Bills over Jets

Patriots over Steelers

STICKY!

this is gonna be our main "nfl thread" this season.

Personally I think your nutty thinkin the niners have a shot at the super bowl. they would have to beat the eagles, and i dont think anybodys beating the eagles this year.

well, maybe the bears.

booyah go bears!

GO BEARS!! I really want to see a re-match against the eagles. I also think the niners are not going to even see the bowl..let alone a ring, but I do think they have a good chance getting deep in the playoffs.

Im going with denver over stl...but I disgaree with the rest of the upset picks

PS..we dont need a sticky for this do we? Do you really think it is going to get pushed away? :)

Actually I think the Niners should be more concerned about the Rams than the Eagles.... We beat the Eagles at Philly last year, but thats last year I guess....

How do you think the Redskins will fair once everyone turns it up a notch?
I dont think the touchdowns will flow like water like they did in the preseason.

Sure :)

First of all, I\'ll bet that the Cowboys beat Houston, not Houstan

Then I\'ll bet Jets over Bills

Then I\'ll go ahead and pick the Chiefs over the Browns.

Colts kill the Jags

Raiders over Hawks

I might go with Minnesota even...but I\'m not sure

At least you got the Giants game right though :)

And the Skins will win more than 8 games.  They were 8-8 last year, and have more talent now.

I\'ll gladly take that bet.

1) Giants over Niners? Tiki Barber isn\'t in full health, Giants have an unproven revamped O-line (New O-lines rarely are good). The only thing the Giants can count on is their defense. I\'m not taking the Giants lightly, they do have a shot, but I\'m just a biased Niners fan.

2) Jacksonville over Indy? Jags SUCK. I actually listed them as my worst team in the NFL for this year at some other forums where I did some power rankings. Jags have nothing. Brunell is way out of his prime, and Taylor is just taking it day by day.

3) Philly over Tennesee? Maybe. It will be close though. I like the Titans chances.

4) New Orleans over Tampa Bay? Another possible thing to happen, but pretty unlikely.

5) Chargers won\'t beat the Bengals. Rookie QB\'s don\'t win their first career games, and Takeo Spikes will make sure of that.

Kudos though for choosing Buffalo over Jets, I\'m with ya on that one.

Giants will be owned in about an hour, just as long some freak injury doesn\'t happen.   NY has no chance of stopping the niner passing attack, and even if they go to a nickle defense to try to stop the passing -O-, the niners will counter with Hearst and Barlow.  In other words, the Giants will have their asses handed to them.

That just shows how incredibly little you know about the Giants.  This team shut down the Rams like no one else last year, only losing on, you guessed it, kicking problems.  They can handle big passing attacks.  Slut.

Somebody get into the end zone. PLEASE. Hell, my Chiefs could have 17 points by now against these defenses. Both offenses are mastering the art of stalling -- not a good sign if both teams have kicking issues.

Giants ALWAYS have low scoring games, both them and whoever they play.

Yes its boring. Yes Terrell Owens is getting thrown at, but not producing. Yes I want to slit Jose Cortez\'s throat.

That\'s the Giants, that\'s the way they ALWAYS are.  They win ugly.  They make other teams play ugly.  Their games are always like this.  There is no team they can\'t play with, and beat in this type of game.  Defensive struggles are the Giants thing.  And Giants fans don\'t think this is boring.  They think it\'s beautiful.  Football is supposed to be ugly, not cute like some of the high flying dome teams you see today try to make it.

I think, from a Giants fan\'s perspective, the Giants have looked good.  The passing game has really been clicking.

And Theomen, where\'s that blowout you predicted?  It\'s been more than an hour, and the Giants are winning.

GAME!

CORTEZ IN THE CLUTCH!

NINERS UNDEFEATED!

GIANTS... WINLESS.

Man that game got much better in the second half. Glad to see Owens come out of his shell for that huge gain.

But all credit goes to the Niner defense who laid the smack down on Collins. Sure Collins got the yardage, but he ate some turf and threw 3 picks.

1-0!!!

The one good thing about the game (other than the win) was Barlows run after the flare pass, it was A-Maz-ing!  Me being a big fan of Kevans, I was exstatic when he brok those tackles, and drug that db for an extra ten.

I\'m extremely glad to see that Barlow is getting more touches this year, and if he doesn\'t start this year full time, next year the Niners, will without a doubt feature him as the number one back.

I\'ve already placed a bet that Hearst retires after this year. I\'m not saying I want it to happen, he\'s an awesome back, I\'m just saying that, and in all honesty, his health should be the priority. I like Hearst as a player, the guy seems like a locker room player and has a hell of a stiff arm, and with a guy like Barlow around, why risk your health?

What, no credit to the Giants defense for making the Niners play like shit most of the game?  I hate to tell ya, but it wasn\'t just Terrell Owens that stopped Terrell Owens.  I think Will Allen had a little something to do with it too.  The Giants made the Niners play like crap in the beginning, but they got tired at the end, and the Niners are too good of a team to do that against.  They took advantage, and won the game.

By the way, of those interceptions, 2 of them were handed to you guys when Giants players couldn\'t catch the ball :(

Yeah, I\'m a Giants fan week 2.

And yes the Giants defense had us for the first half but thats because even coming out of the preseason we never established a good rhythm so the Niners went out rusty. But as the game winded on you could see the Niners slowly and steadily emerge from their shell until they blew it up in the 4th.

If the Giants beat the Rams, and I hope they do, and I know they can do, then it will really be good for the Giants to prove to everyone they can contend with the top dogs, and the Niners would have a nice road to reclaming the NFC West.

Saints running back is really good, at least in real life...couldnt get a damn break from vid,lol..good game btw vid....also if aaron brooks produces hell kick ass cuz hes got potential. Wide recievers Horn and Stallworth(also if they play like they should) will also help the team a lot. The defense i havnt seen too much of so i cant say anythign  good/bad about them. Havnt really followed them in real life, just the broncos. So dont count the saints out yet. But Carolina and Jacksonville dont have a chance. I think at the end Tampa will come out on top(at least in the division). For a superbowl prediction, even though its the first week, but thats what predictions are for, id have to go with the steelers. But of corse it would be nice to have the broncs win another.

And Brad Johnson is a great QB, he kicked ass in his days in Minnesota before he got hurt. The guy could throw the ball like a cannon. Its Dungy\'s conservative shit of an offense that never let B.J. break out. Lets hope Mr. Constipation, John Gruden, knows how to utilize Johnson.

I have a Jeff Garcia jersey, a Steve Young jersey that I don\'t wear anymore for obvious reasons, and a Terell Owens jersey that was destroyed in the washing machine so I only wear it when I\'m in the house. Niner fans have a large eye on Parrish because we lost Lance Schulters who was a bad ass on the field and we hafta check if Parrish can fill his shoes.

Parrish was awesome in Week 1 and even though Tiki got in the endzone the play after, he laid a nice shoulder on Tiki to prevent the TD. He reminds me of Schulters in a lot of ways.

heres the deal with parrish (trust me i studied this guy for 3 years)

he pretty much is a small linebacker... he lets some recievers go, not a very good cover guy, even for a strong safety. BUT... he is a frickin monster hitter, causes fumbles like crazy. also blitzes great, and his most impressive point in my opinion is when you put him on the line, its like a 4-4, cause he plays the run and blitzes like a linebacker.

like i said im a big fan. was very sad to see him go.

HAH BITCHES! I HIT MY UPSET PICK!

I knew the Rams would lose. Knew it. Never doubted myself no matter how much others told me there was no way.

Now the Rams have to play a proven Giants team that has came close to beating them before, and its highly possible the Rams will go 0-2!

I hate the Buccaneers with a passion now. God I can\'t believe I picked them to win. They have the lousiest offense and not even John Gruden can create any kind of chemistry there. What a hopeless situation.

I was so pissed at the Cleveland game. Being born in Ohio I am also a slight Browns fan, but believe me there is a HUGE gap between being a Niners fan and a Browns fan. I love the Niners much more, but I still like to root for the Browns. That game was their\'s, and KC knows it. All you need is one dumbass to sink the ship.

I almost hit my upset pick with Buffalo. Bledsoe was pretty solid but the special teams blew it in OT. I was only 6 points off.

Aside from other things this was the best first week I\'ve ever seen and I\'m really loving NFL Sunday Ticket.

That Browns game looked kinda crazy.  Everytime I saw some highlight of it the Browns were going 50 yards down the field like they were the Rams or something.  I also was very pleased with Denver\'s win over the Rams.  The Jags and Colts game was pretty good too.

Tonight\'s game Pats and Steelers...Steelers by 10.

There are just too many holes to fill in that roster. Quincy is a lousy scrambler and has a shit of an arm. I think he was 11-30, no tds, and a pick. Against an expansion team\'s first game that consists of second rate players (besides sharper) in their secondary. I\'ll check up on it though.

Second rate players in the secondary?  Hardly.  The Jets were great against the pass last year, and forced the most turnovers in the NFL.  The Texans have their 2 starting CBs from last year.

I said from the beginning that this was the best expansion team I had ever seen.  I stand by that even more now.

Perhaps their secondary is proven, but their defensive line is not. The only one who stopped Emmitt that game was the men blocking in front of him.

You people that think Jake Plummer is horrible. He\'s never had a decent o-line since he\'s been in the NFL, never. Sure, he\'s not the best QB, but if he had an o-line he would be a solid starter. And hopefully with Lenord Davis coming in that\'ll help. We\'ll see.

His golden year when the Cards actually made the playoffs and people were actually calling him, "Jake the Snake". It was 98\' or 97\'.

Perhaps you can blame it on a rusty o-line and a lousy run game, but god damn do I hate side-arm QBs.

Yep. Bernie Kosar did suck, didn\'t he?

Jake Plummer - trash. If Arizona State didn\'t beat Nebraska in \'96, he would have never made it to the NFL. "Jake the Snake", what a horrible nickname, and already used, too. Don\'t pull that O-Line crap, it\'s fine. Aaron Graham was one of the best Centers in all of College Football back in his day. If his O-Line is truly that bad, then how was it that Michael Pittman was able to be one of the best RB\'s productivity-wise in 2000?

They used Pittman on alot of screen passes. And most of the rushing yards he got was from him making something out of nothing.

And saying that Plummer would have never made it to the NFL without beating Nebraska is just...retarded. He was a great QB in college, and he could be a solid one in the NFL.

First off, not related to that: http://msn.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/pasquarelli_len/1430682.html

Crouch Retires from Football.

2nd off: How can a quarterback get so great after one off-season? The Sun Devils won 4 or 5 games in \'95, losing to Nebraska 77-28 in the process, then they beat Nebraska the next year. You don\'t think that had SOMETHING to do with it? I loved that Rose Bowl loss, way for that great defense to choke *rolls eyes*

I don\'t doubt the Niners.  I saw how good they are.  I just think that the Broncos, when healthy and when all is going right, are an incredible team (as in best in the AFC).  They have a great offensive system, and a defense that pretty much shut the Rams down.  Gonna be one hell of a game though.  It was one of the matchups on the schedule I really think could go either way.

Hell, there are like 4 games that could be GOTW next week...Giants Rams, Niners Broncos, Fins Colts, and Jets Pats should all be great games.

Hey man, you know I gotta go with my Jets too.  Either way though, that should be one hell of a game.

The Jets are such an interesting team to me though.  They have a way of getting outplayed, and pulling out a win anyway.  They\'ve done it ever since they started playing well again (after those 1-15 years :().  The Bills game week 1 was a great example of that.  Last year, they forced the most turnovers, and gave up the least.  That says something about a team, I think.

If the niners dont fix their crap they pulled on the giants they have no chance IMO to beat the Broncos. Week 1 the broncos owned the best (statistical) team, and SF barely got past the giants and their offense wasnt clicking as well as the broncos.

Viper the Giants are a GOOD team. Everyone struggles against them at New York. What I was impressed with was the Niners ability to leave there with a win, that was a tough game, and their first game at that.

Niners are at home now, where they play best. And I think the Griese v. Beurelein battle is gonna hurt Denver.

I wasnt saying the Giants werent a good team. It did sound like i said that after i read what i wrote but i still think SF didnt have as much timing as the broncos had against the rams. For homefield advantage, that will also be a help towards SF. I think Griese knows what he has to do to keep his job, but if shanahan sees he needs to put in beurelein, i dont think he would hesitate to do so. I shouldnt have said SF has no chance cuz they are a good team.

The Giants are a good team (nice to see that other people see that now :)), but I do agree that the Broncos looked sharper in their opener than the Niners did.  We\'ll just have to see how it plays out though.

Post by: SwifDi on September 14, 2002, 11:06:17 AM
Of course the Broncos looked sharper, they were playing at home. Like I said, no one plays well in New York. And the Broncos only saving grace was its defense, and the Niners plan on disrupting Griese\'s game so he can lose his job to Beurelein and that always creates a mess when your changing QB\'s.

Also, Niners have allowed only 3 points their last 3 home games.

The refs in the Giants-Rams game blew it...

The Giants were on the Ram 5 when Collins fumbled... a St.  Louis DB picked it up and was headed to the other endzone when the ref called it back!!

Result=rams lose by 5.

If that fumble was called the rams would have won.

There is no way the Rams score on that play, if it\'s called a fumble.  The whistles were blowing, so people stopped, and the running back, and even part of the recovering of the ball was after the play was dead and most had stopped playing.  The refs didn\'t blow it, and I\'ll say it again, only the shallowest fans blame refs.  The refs didn\'t blow it, the Rams did.  Shut up, and take the loss like a man, instead of making bullshit excuses.

Are you telling me that Oklahoma didn\'t have a chance to score after that, or score more before that?  A single play can win a game, but it can\'t make a game.  Besides, even if the Rams recover that, they don\'t score on that play, and the way the Giants were playing, they don\'t score that drive either.  The Giants outplayed the Rams, and the Rams had plenty of chances.  They blew them, and they lost.  They deserved to lose, because they were outplayed and didn\'t take advantage when they had opportunities.  They have no one to blame but themselves, and a true fan of the sport would see that.  Besides, don\'t tell me they haven\'t gotten those calls in the past.

I\'m not a fan of either team. But I\'m not blinded by the fact that it WAS  a fumble.

Did Oklahoma score? They didn\'t. Why? Nebraska was up by 10 with 6 minutes left, and the momentum was obviously in Nebraska\'s favor. Oklahoma didn\'t score once in the 2nd half of that game.

See yuz.
Title: ~Official NFL 2002-2003 Thread~
Post by: shockwaves on September 17, 2002, 03:22:30 PM
Well, there you go.  Oklahoma could have scored before that play, but didn\'t.  They set themselves up for that situation.  That play doesn\'t happen...say it\'s incomplete...well Nebraska is still winning, and the Sooner O still is struggling.  It is very possible nothing changes.  Sure, there are momentum switches, but teams can take momentum back.  If they can\'t, they don\'t deserver to win.

Yes, it was a fumble, and a blown call, but from the angle the refs had, it isn\'t as obvious as the angle we have.  It\'s not like that was the only questionable call in the game, it\'s just what the losers will focus on, because they can\'t accept the fact that they were beaten.  Besides, let\'s not forget that the giants were kneeling down the ball in field goal range to end the game.  If the Rams scored, the Giants could have easily gotten it back there.

Only if they would\'ve thrown it to.....SHOCKEY :)  Blown calls happen in every game, Im sure the Rams have won before on a call that could\'ve went the other way but didn\'t....btw another blown call on Sunday- Edgerrin James on the 3rd attempt on the goal line, he was in the endzone and they pushed him out and the refs said no TD...thus proving my above point.

But if a team puts themselves in a situation where one play can make the difference, then the game isn\'t really in their hands.  If that is the case, then they don\'t deserve to win the game as much as you think they do.

Those power rankings are horrible, by the way.  I\'ll say it here and now, the Giants have a much better team than the Jets this year.  They also have beaten a better team, and looked better in their games.  Yet, for some reason, the Jets are ranked higher.  Go figure.

The Giants are pretty formidable, their defense might be in the top 3 in the NFL at the end of the season, and their offense is good enough to put some points on the board.  Collins and Barber are no Faulk and Warner by any means, but they\'re adaquit enough get some scores and let the defense win the games for them.

LUKE FYI, New Orleans is probably one of the best teams not noticed IMO.  I feel they have a momentum going their way, and with Chicago just barely getting past it\'s last two games, they\'re simply dodging bullets at this point. :)

Eagles fans are the worst fans ever.  Nobody is close enough to match their unsportsman like attitude.  I remember once when Michael Irvin almost broke his neck and was seriously injured, and there they are the Eagles fans cheering! WTF!?  Thats a human being down there not just a cowboy player.  And today they start to chant "Cowboys suck."  I really think some of the refs are like this too cuz they called uneccesary roughness on a tackle.

well...

the beloved had a 20-0 lead going into the 2nd quarter and all was good.

then the saints marched down the feild and scored a TD on a good drive... then the bears fumbled the kickoff and the saints got the ball at the bears 5.... another TD.

14 points in about 35 seconds.

20-14

then John f*cking Shoop and his retarded play-calling made it so we couldnt score again untill a feild goal in the fourth...

here my imitation of John Shoop...

"hey, i know were throwing the ball all over this team, but i think we should stop doing that and just run for 2 yards a play and let them win"

This kinda almost brings up another point that has been bugging me for a long time. Why is there a need for 1000 different coaches and assistant coaches nowadays? Seems that the list gets longer every few years as well.

Har! I picked the Saints!

My picks are sweet this week, I\'ve only missed two. I picked the hopeless shit of a team known as the Vikings, and the Cards.

HOW BOUT\' DEM NINERS?

Can you say, 250 rushing yards?

Hearst- 98 yards
Barlow - 94 yards

Oh so very close...

And that Owens run, with the Jeff Garcia block? Someone please argue with me and tell me another WR that can run better than Owens?

Yes, Vanover was great...too bad he decided to get into drugs with Bam Morris, and effectively ruin his career. He was good, though...

Tyrone Williams was another great one for the Saints in the early 90\'s out of Nebraska. I remember a game he played in against the Vikings - returned 2 kickoffs for Touchdowns, and the Saints won in overtime. It was teh great :)

Sorry LUKE gotta disagree, I\'ve been watching football all my life, and watched Vanover and while he was good he had no where the skills of Owens.  If he did Vanover would have been a much better player that he was.  He was a mediocer WR and a great kick returner.  As for Rice, he had the best hands EVER...well I guess he still has hands, but you know what I mean.  Even though he had the great hands, he could still not run with Owens.  I should really know because I live in a niner family.  We have just about every game since 1980 on tape.  And Rice didn\'t have the moves, speed or strength that Owens has.  Unfortunetly Owens doesn\'t have the focus or hands that Rice had.
Title: ~Official NFL 2002-2003 Thread~
Post by: SwifDi on September 23, 2002, 04:38:19 PM
Yeah I agree with Omen. I\'ve watched Rice his entire career (a majority through highlight reels) and the guy didn\'t have Owens explosiveness. Owens is a BIG reciever. Him and David Boston are alot alike. Owens is nearly impossible to bring down in the open field, and his acceleration is ridiculously good. If you watch him closely you notice he doesn\'t even run normally, he brings the ball with both hands to his chest like he\'s praying and just takes quick gigantic strides.

Damn if Marvin Harrison weighed about 20 more pounds I could make an argument for him being the best WR.  His speed and agility is so good, shook the hell out of Glenn all game on Sunday.  Owens\'s height and weight make him the player that he is.  He is much stronger than most of the smaller corners and can brush them off with ease.  How about that block by Garcia though...that was nice.

if I were Daunte Cullpepper I would have bitch slapped Randy Moss for that wannabe one hander, that turned into an interception.  I\'m willing to bet that if Randy had a little bit less talent, he\'d be a better wideout.  Because he thinks that his huge talent alows him to half ass it all the time, while a less talented reciever like Marvin Harison is probably a better player.

My picks for week 4: Winners in bold

New Orleans vs Detroit

No contest here. Detroit(IMO the worst team in football) has no chance against the Siants.

Carolina vs Green Bay

It was a nice run by Carolina; but Green Bay, despite their own problems, will bring them down to earth.

Miami vs Kansas City

I want the Chiefs to win SOOOO bad. I see Holmes running all over the Teal Mammallian Fish. However the Chief\'s D is seriously lacking. Hopefully KC will prove me wrong. Go CHIEFS?!

Chicago vs Buffalo

IMO, If Bledsoe continues to play with the heart we haven\'t seen since the Tuna days of Pats football they could pull this out. But then again, the Bears have Urlacher. Bears win.

Dallas vs St. Louis

Rams are struggling; but the Cowboys still aren\'t good enough to handle a struggling Rams team. Dallas is going to be fired up about this one. Could be a good game.

Houston vs Philadelphia

One of the best QBs in the game verse expansion gimme team? Eagles all day.

Cleveland vs Pittsburgh

Cleveland doesn\'t have the firepower to air it out like the Pats and Raiders. Steelers win.

NY Jets vs Jacksonville

I could really care less. Still, I\'m going to say the Jaguars because I can\'t stand the Jets.

NY Giants vs Arizona

Giants win. Cardinals Don\'t.

Tampa Bay vs Cincinnati

Bungles and Smith will be stuffed by Sapp and Sice.

Tennessee vs Oakland

The Geezer\'s paradise squad should be able to pick the Titans apart. Will the loss of Woodson be a factor? More than likely not.

New England vs San Diego

I\'ve gotta go with my Pats in this one. The Chargers have not beat anyone of significance yet and the Pats D showed some kinks last sunday. This should be a good measuring stick for both teams. GO PATS!!! :D

Minnesota vs Seattle

Vikings are struggling for a win. I think the Offense should click this week giving them a win.

Denver vs Baltimore

Denver wins. Period.

Absolutely correct. Go Chiefs...their defense is horrible. The Secondary is bad as it is, and now Warfield and Crockett are hurt. NFL\'s worst Pass Defense...and rightly so. Only way they can win is if they reach the 40\'s in points...and if they don\'t, they end up giving up even more. Horrible.

What\'s sad, was that Jacksonville game...gave up 9 points the entire game, and gave up 2 big plays and ended up losing by a TD because the defense couldn\'t stop the Jags on 3rd and 4. God.

4 touches? The Chiefs run defense isn\'t the problem, unlike last year. The Pass Defense is giving up about 360 yards a game during the first 3 games...Brady passed for about 420, Holcomb for about 380 or something like that.

no F\'n Way!  the Browns lost in OT!  FG attempt and the ball ticked off a helmet and went wide!...........Pittsburgh gets the ball goes to around the 10 and kicks not 1 but 2 FG\'s (the first one got blocked but Pittsburgh got it back and then GAME over 16-13 Pittsburgh. Maddux (yes the EX-XFL player) came in for mr "limp wristed" cordell stewart and on his first posession he leads the steelers to a TOuchdown.......then in OT throws and interception and the browns almost had it wrapped up.......IMHO they should have thrown it a little to try for more yardage and not gone for the running game........  a great game tho!  At least the Indians won!

ROAR. CAN YOU FEEL IT NOW. 48-30, Trent Green with 5 TD Passes, and the Defense came up with some big plays late to seal it.

Sure, gave up 30 points...but when you score 48 points against one of the best defenses in the game, you\'re doing something right.

*goes out on the proverbial limb* Chiefs - best offense in football right now. 40, 16 (bad game), 38, 48. Pure Greatness.

:( An upsetting loss for the Patriots.  A really tough game, but the true difference was Tomlinson.  I give San Diego credit, they are the real deal this year.  Let\'s just see if they can avoid what happened last year.

As for my Pats, we\'ll you can\'t win them all.  You have to pick your head up and look foward to an important division game next week against the Fins.  A loss is never a good thing, but it can lead to improvement, something the Patriots desperately need to do on run defense.  We\'ll, I screwed up my picks this week, too many upsets.

well I\'m getting ready for Vid next week, I\'ve picked up a couple backup QB\'s \'cause Dante will have a bye week.  I\'m trying to decide between T.Green, or Pennington.  With that horrible pass defense of KC, I\'m leaning toward Pennington for some reason.

I also picked up some WR\'s who are facing off against the leagues worst pass defenses during week 5.  Even if I can\'t deal Taylor or Dillion for a starting WR, I\'m feeling pretty confident for week 5.

Somebody has some math skills.

I have WR\'s. Most of them were on the bench, today. I could probably use a good RB, but I probably won\'t trade with Theomen. Why? Because every trade you propose usually gets ass raped as far as their team goes (literally and figurativley). Just offer something that is FAIR. That\'d do it.

James, I would offer you a trade...BUT, people don\'t believe that Taylor will stay healthy for the season, and only want to trade a backup wideout for him.

Understandably people are affraid of Taylor because of the injuries, but I\'m not going to trade him off and get nothing in return.  If need be I\'ll ride him all season, or until he goes down.

Why don\'t you offer a trade, and we can go from there.

I couldn\'t believe I found Jamel White lying around! Man what a snag.

Well since I have my new best friend Shaun Alexander with a bye next week, and Thomas Jones isn\'t in full health, I picked up White so I can fill the RB position. Then I lost Stallworth and Mason to injuries so I got Brian Finneran the number one reciever in atlanta and deion branch from the pats.

I\'m also starting Bledsoe for the first week over Favre considering Bledsoe has proven to play well against any defense at home. By the way, Bledsoe is another guy that I picked up who was just lying around like 2 weeks ago. About 70% of my team consists of good free agents that we\'re just lying around.

a few of my fav players on my team came from the free agent pool.  Like my number one WR Conway, my San Diego defense (which helped me thrash Vapor a couple weeks ago :)) and pretty much all of my back ups.  God I love being one of the few people who checks the FA pool regularily.

BTW, I saw White earlier, I just couldn\'t get myself to part with Barlow for him.  I have emotional atatchment to Kevan.

Not necessarily.  It is also about knowing what it will take to win each week.  For example, this week I knew that I would have injured running backs, but I also knew that it wouldn\'t be necessary to make any improvements in that area.  I could have traded for taylor, which would have boosted my points this week, but would have hurt me in the long run.  I knew I was playing someone who was hurt by byes his players had, and wouldn\'t need such a move.

And by the way, I could very easily have more points than you when the points update, considering that I have 2 WRs and a kicker playing tonight.

And theomen, I\'m interested in Taylor.

they need a lot. They need a turnover, touchdown, 2 point conversion, onside(if theres not enough time to kick a normal kickoff), and at least a field goal. Im a broncos fan, but with all the penalties theyve been making, itll be tough.

Well I lost. 2 minutes left. Denver has no timeouts and the ball, so if the Ravens got the ball they wouldn\'t create a chance to turn the ball over.

So, I lose. Shit.

im looiking to trade peerless price though, so anybody interested make me an offer.

ill throw in deuce mcallister too for a really good running back, so thats price AND mcallister for a bad ass RB.

well your offer of Owens for Ricky Williams wasn\'t too great.  No way I\'m going to trade the most consistent RB in the league, for a wide reciever who hasn\'t done anything through three games, and has a QB who got benched in his last game.

Yeah I know Garcia had the flu, but I\'m a Niner fan, I watch their every game, and every play, and I\'ll tell you right now, that Mooch didn\'t bench Garcia because of a flu.  I think Vapor will back me up on this.  Mariuchi is trying to light a fire under Jeffs ass, and so far it\'s not working.

So you\'re saying that Tim Rattay isn\'t going to give Terrell Owens the ball? Last I checked, Mr. Rattay could throw the ball around pretty damn well. If you truly think that Terrell Owens isn\'t worth Ricky Williams, I guess we\'ll have to wait and see. You and I both know that when Terrell is getting the ball, he\'s the best. Against that Rams defense w/o Aneaus Williams, he should have no problem. Breakout game for Mr. Owens, if I may say so myself.

Oh, and Ricky Williams rushed for a whole 66 yards against the Chiefs. Albeit, he recieved for about 40, but Preist Holmes owned him. Priest Holmes is the better Longhorn.

See Yuz.

Priest Holmes get\'s some props, but I still think Ricky is better.

As for Owens, he\'s my favorite player in the league, but I\'m not going to take the risk that he has a sub par season, which is very likely.  Who knows, he may have a good season but until the niners prove to me that they\'ll revamp their offensive strategy and start spreading the field and not zoning in on Owens, he will be shut down.

I signed up on nfl.com and it says there is a draft tomorrow for me...is there a draft every week or do u have one draft and have that for the rest of the year. If its only one draft ill be pretty screwed since everyon will be taken...i just wanted to get my foot in the door since its my first time and learn how everything works. Also is it a weekly \'prize\' or a season \'prize\' for doing the best. Cuz if it a season \'prize\' then again im screwed since i missed the first 4 weeks, but o well. Thanks.

well Jamas, I may not need Owens if a trade goes through.  And even if it doesn\'t, I\'ll still have 4 1000yd recievers, a really solid RB, and Ricky Williams.  Also if Cullpepper get\'s his act together, then I\'ll be rolling.  And in the second half of the Vikings Seahawks game, Cullpepper was looking good.  If Moss would have been catching those balls, I could have gotten 30+ points out of Daunte.

And if Randy get\'s suspended, Daunte may be better off because he won\'t have to zone in on  Moss half the time.  He could start doing what QB\'s are paid for...READING THE FREAKING FIELD!!

Good question. I just reviewed my picks for each week and have noticed I\'ve picked the Giants only in week 3 against the seahawks. I think they\'re pretty inconsistent and I like Dallas at home. If it was in the meadowlands.... I\'d think about it for awhile... and then I\'d go with Dallas still. :D

And I also hit that Cardinal pick over them last week so I\'m more comfortable picking against them.

I thought I\'d win this week for sure too. If I lose to 49Raiders next week then I\'m quitting guys. Thats just the sore loser prick I am.

At least in my other private league I\'m 4-1. The problem is sometimes I have a player in one league that I need to do well and I\'m playing against him in another. Its so god damn frusterating sometimes.

If I win next week, I\'m gonna build on it and I\'ll win 9 straight.

I find it a bit funny that James said that Taylor was a piece of trash, but is now trying to pimp him off to Vid.  I don\'t know what he offered but I think it was Driver & Taylor for J.Smith & A.Green.

Yeah, I guess he thinks that because Driver had a huge Monday night game that I will think that he will be worth that every night.

I want driver, but is he worth Green?  Um, no...  Driver is only worth a point maybe two on average more than Jimmy Smith.  and Fred Taylor is right on with Green, although he will probably get hurt soon.

And this is with Green not doing shit.

Green is going to break out of his shell soon.

This trade is just useless.  Like I said in the other forum, "It\'s like trading five dimes for two quarters."

My need is a WR.  It actually isn\'t a need, eric moulds is doing very well and Gardner and Smith are doing better than average as well.

But Driver has been doing a couple points more than my guys all year.  So my eyes are open to him.

quite frankly, I\'d like to see Vid do the trade because he\'ll be alot easier to beat if he does.  But other than that, I see no reason to do the trade.  It\'s a huge gamble.  Taylor will go down sometime this season, and Driver isn\'t that far above Vids current recievers....  But if he wants to do the trade, well then good for me.

As for myself, I was simply stating that I didn\'t think it was a wise trade on Vids part, there was absolutely no need for you to cop an attitude.  I\'m not sure what your problem is, maybe you weren\'t breast fed, maybe your daddy didn\'t love you enough, but go get some prefesional help, keep your bitchy attitude out of the forums, and leave me the hell alone.

No, you weren\'t talking to him.  You were trying to hurt his chances of having a trade he\'s working on accepted, so it involves him.

As for it being unfair, Taylor is ranked higher than Green, and Driver is higher than Smith.  With the offense in Green Bay, I wouldn\'t expect that to change.  Here\'s a stat on Green you might want to look up.  How many TDs inside the 10 do you think he had last year?  This is Favre\'s team, and no where is that more apparant than in the red zone.  While everyone else rated him as the 2nd best RB in the NFL, I rated him as the fifth or sixth.  So far, his fantasy numbers have backed that up.  They have also backed up my predictions that Holmes and Williams would have better seasons.

well James made the same exact comments about Taylor just a few pages back, when I was trying to trade him, but I had the class not to attack him.  I simply took it for what it was worth, and continued on my way.

For some reason James is harboring some type of resentment towards me, and I\'m quite unaware of why?  He goes out of his way to inusult me, and I\'m honestly right on the verge of tearing him a new asshole.  However if he is kiding around, like how Vapor and I do, then \'whatever\'...  But it seems to me that it is nothing but prepubesent pent up rage.

I\'ve ignored your league?

Well maybe I should hunt down cloud, and kick him square in the sack, because he\'s been quiet in the PSX2league?

God damn James, stop taking shit so personal.  Until recently I really never even paid attention to you, so why would I go out of my way to make your life anymore miserable than you\'ve already made it.  It\'s the damn internet, you need to learn to let stuff role off your back, because if you take everything so personal, you\'ll probably go insane and be the next "Maryland Sniper"....or Nebraska Sniper in your case.

Did you ever consider that maybe there was a reason you were the one invited to that league?  Of all the people on this board, James thought the highest of you, and chose you over everyone else to take the final spot in the league.  You then accepted it, and proceeded to completely ignore the league, not ever showing up for the draft.  It\'s not like you don\'t have the time or opportunity...I mean, you\'re constantly on the fantasy football page for the psx2c league, and it doesn\'t take much to take care of another team.  I think that it is very sad though that when someone thinks so highly of you, and you respond with such complete disrespect, you have a hard time seeing why that person might have some anger towards you.  You brought this on yourself.

Yes, it is the internet.  But that doesn\'t mean that if you treat him this way, even if it isn\'t as obvious as what he\'s done recently, that he can\'t treat you like shit back.  It\'s the internet, yes, but that doesn\'t mean that you can just treat people like shit and expect nothing to be returned.

Yes, I like sarcasm too, bud. That ties in with the class thing, right?

Not once did I mention that I was having mental anguish over the fact that you doing the things you were doing. These are things that grate on me. Not once did I mention you "going out of your way to make my life more miserable than it already is" (nice shot at my personality, too). If you interpret it that way, well, you must think pretty highly of yourself.

Nebraska Sniper? Wow. That was out of nowhere. I\'m sure that soon enough, I\'m going to turn into some 45 year old who thinks that he\'s god, and goes around shooting children. And yes, again, horray for sarcasm.

I had no idea that much thought was put into the invitation.  While it\'s not an excuse, I honestly completly forgot about that league.  I have now looked at my team in that league, and will be playing from here on.  But I still am under the impression that James is an extremly over emotional person, and takes things far too serious, but I will not harbor any bad feelings towards him.

However, it kind of evens out.  He has Muhammad, Holmes, and Walls on bye weeks.

Well thankfully Kev Johnson doesn\'t start for me, but I\'ll have to put D-Jax in as a starter for Keyshawn....but Ricky Williams will be playing against the piss poor Jet\'s defense, so he should be a lock for 50fp\'s ;)

GO DOLPHINS!

Way to beat those Broncos, giving the Cheifs a chance to make a move next week against Denver in KC.

I predict that the Chiefs will win, 45-42, Holmes has 3 TD\'s, and Gonzo catches 2.

Sad thing is, that doesn\'t seem realistic...but it\'s probably true.

I see them every week(id rather see denver every week but thats besides the point) and they are a very good team. Tomlinson is one of the best running backs right now and Brees is having a good first year as a starter. Their defense is shaky right now cuz seau is out with a hurt ankle and hes day-by-day but with him they stopped a lot of running games. They have a good chance but their the best division with the broncos, raiders, and the chiefs.

Next week is huge for the NFC, their two best teams, Niners and Saints are gonna have the deciding battle.

And I\'m not worried one bit about the Seacocks, considering they always play well with the spotlight on them at home. That was their only shot, and they blew it, I can\'t wait till\' we annihilate them when they come to 3com.

The next couple of games are gonna be rough, first they have the Saints, then Arizona and finally the Raiders.  The Cards don\'t worry me, but with the Saints and Raiders in there....I\'m a bit worried to say the least.  i think the Niners are capable of beating both teams, but that doesn\'t mean that they will.

The Rams are 1-5.  Face facts, they aren\'t that good.  It is very possible to miss the playoffs at 9-7...teams did that last year.  That means to guarantee themselves a spot, they have to win all but one game.  They aren\'t that good.  Warner is out, and the team has been very beatable this year.

Dude I\'m easily in the top 5, look at my point total. Remember the more you inflate your head, the bigger the pop.

Man, I had some respect for the Seahawks as an admirable contender in the NFC West, but I guess they are typical cry baby sore losers, with the exception of Shaun Alexander. All of them inculding that hog Holmgren were crying and pouting over Owens\' "signature" move. Focus on your shitty joke of a defense and quit worrying about our skills. I hope next time we play them Owens whips his penis out and pisses on the Seahawks logo.

And Owen\'s, "signature" move just gets more interesting!

Here\'s what the "losers" have to say:

Mike Holmgren: "shameful\'\' and "a dishonor to anyone who ever played this game.\'\'

CB Willie Williams: "It\'s eating me up, and I\'m not going to forget about it, I can\'t wait until December. If I get a legal shot, I\'m going to take it.\'\'

DE Chad Eaton: "To come into our stadium and show us up like that ... Just goes to show you he has no class."

Majority of Seahawks team: More than one Seattle player suggested retaliation might be in order when the teams play at San Francisco on Dec. 1.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What the vertebrates have to say:

Terrell Owens: "My coach wasn\'t bothered by it,\'\' Owens said. "He thought it was funny, just like a lot of people. I think (Holmgren), being on the losing end of it makes him bitter. It\'s not like I\'m disrespecting the game or I disrespected him. They\'re going through a tough time where they\'re 1-4 and they got beat in their home spot. Obviously, he has some issues that he has to deal with.\'\'

CB Shaun Springs (A seahawk!): "I felt it was harmless, (and) at the same time, I thought it was funny, being creative. So it has gotten more attention than I really expected.\'\'

C Jeremy Newberry (Niners): "It\'s really getting blown out of proportion,\'\' said center Jeremy Newberry, who also vowed to help protect Owens from any cheap shots from the Seahawks.

RB Terrell Davis (Retired): "Hey, that was cool,\'\' said Terrell Davis, the Denver Broncos\' recently retired running back. "I don\'t care what nobody says, man, that was cool. That was all right. That was original. No one else thought about doing that. Only Terrell Owens could do something like that, you know?\'\'

Bottom line. Tune in December 1st. After only one meeting the two teams have already created a heated rivalry. I just would love to see the Seahawks try to pull one on Owens AT 3COM.

December 1st. Bring it.

He pulled a pen out of his sock and signed the football after catching a touchdown pass.  He then gave it to someone in the luxery boxes right on the field.  I have no problem with it other than the fact that it just shows the massive egos these players have.  And their is such a thing as excessive celebration.  IE, the game where he went to the star.  When Owens is the best WR he can maybe do half the stuff he does now.

celebration is celebration, i bet if anyone of us felt the way it feels to score a touchdown and upset a team, we would do the same things. i dont see anything wrong with celebrations, the star one was the greates one ever. if they didnt like it then why dont they do the same thing........ohh they cant cuz they lost!!! if the seahawks would of won then it would of been stupid...but if you know you got the game locked then why not do it, if your one of the best and you know it why not celebrate. and owens is the best WR, well not the best, but hes damn good.

Why Moss isn\'t better than Owens:

1) Owens has a better recieving corp around him.

2) Owens has a better QB than Moss. EASILY.

3) The Niners running game helps the passing game spread out, and the Vikings have a joke of a running attack.

4) Owens is a ball hog. He needs it every down. He wants it every down. Moss plays when he wants to play.

5) Owens knows how to control himself off the field. Sure he says a few things here and there regarding the Niners coaching decisions, but most all star NFL players do anyway. Moss has had catfights with Culpepper, sprayed an NFL referee with a water bottle, and presently on the league\'s substance abuse policy.

SirMystiq, having Moss come to SF would not be cool. He actually would be on the bottom of my list if the Niners were looking for a WR. Moss and Owens on the same time? No way, that would be chaos. Owens just needs a WR to compliment him, I personally have alot of faith in Stokes.

If you ask me, Moss doensn\'t even get the number two spot, because I think Marvin Harrisson is better too.

the onoly problem i have with celebration is when  it either holds up the game, or it is gay and lame.

owens running to the star held up a game, he deserved a penalty and i think i remember he got one.

the autograph thing last monday was funny and it didnt hold up the game, so its fine by me.

as far as the gay and lame thing... whatch donald driver dance after he scores... he dances like a girl i swear to god... like a girl.

That celebration was great.  I\'m for all the celebrating a player wants to do after a touchdown.  Ego or not, I don\'t care as long as he plays hard, which Owens does, and doesn\'t hurt his team, which Owens doesn\'t.  It\'s entertaining, and it hurts no one.

Moss is better than Owens in terms of skill.  However, he doesn\'t try as hard, takes plays off, and hurts his team.  He destroys their team chemistry in a lot of ways, while Owens doesn\'t.  Moss is the better player, but I\'d rather have Owens on my team.

I have 2 questions for my fantasy football this week. For QB\'s i have Vick, Mcnair, and Maddox. Vick is probable, mcnair has a bye, and Maddox is doing pretty decent. I dunno whether to start Maddox and be safe, or trust that Vick wont get hurt again. Also, i have the broncos defense and the browns. The broncos have been doing pretty good but have the chiefs who are good offensivly but denver has been shutting down the run, and trent green is out(i think). The Browns have been sucking but they play the texans who average 13.5 points a game. Can anyone give me their opinions on whther to start vick or maddox and the browns or the broncos?thx. l8er.

Owens crossed the line there. He lost a lot of respect from the players when he pulled that stunt.

George Teauge was absoluety RIGHT for what he did! Teague being an ALABAMA boy, he is one of my favorite players. I just wish he had broken one of Owens bones when he slammed into him.

Owens is a character in his own right. Now he is trying to blame racisim on his fine.  As BOZCO stated earlier, players are fined all the time for the shirt tail violation. It\'s just never in the news.

I didn\'t have a problem with Owens pulling the sharpie out of his sock and signing the football. I actually thought it was rather cool. Even Springs didn\'t have a problem with it.

90% of the time, it\'s not OWENS actions that get him fined, it\'s his mouth. I don\'t like him one bit, but he is still a pretty good player. But to pull the race card out on this latest fine, is just plain ignorant!

He says white boys can\'t score TD\'s! Well I want to see him tackle Alstott in the open field when he is zeroing in on Owens chest! Then we\'ll see what he has to say about those "white guys" that never get into the endzone.

OWENS = PUNK

Yes, he is...absolutely. He\'s still a good fantasy player, though :)

As for Vapors picks...the 2-3 Ravens beating the 4-1 Jags isn\'t an upset? That\'s a bit confusing. I do like the confidence boost with the Chiefs, though. Chiefs are goona win 45-42 :-D

See Yuz.

Well the Jags are likely to be without Brunell, and its in Baltimore..... and Jamal Lewis is hot, while the Jags run defense is not. However, just to make myself seem cooler when the Ravens do win, I\'ll add it to one of my upset picks.

Baltimore won\'t have the best linebacker in football in though.

I\'m a Marvin Jones man myself.  Coles isn\'t bad either.  Neither is Cowart.
