For instance, Tekken 4, will playing it in PS make that much of a difference?
We have a ful on home theatre setup at home, including something called a scaler or something. I know we watch DVD\'s in PS, but I have never tried it with the PS2. Will it make that much of a difference?
Dad isn\'t home (he\'s a Audio Visual Specialist) so I can\'t ask him, just thought you guys could help.

It interpolates the interlaced lines and makes progressive signal out of it.
Sure it looks nice. Any time you can run your interlaced signal into a line doubler, quadrupler, whatever it will look better.
I don\'t have a line doubler on my system because I use an HD receiver for most of my viewing and that does it for me.
DVDs I watch regular and it kind of sucks, but it still looks good. Doublers, etc are pretty expensive so it\'s not worth it for me right now.
I\'d say try it. Playing games on the big screen will spoil you rotten though. I could never play the game on a 27" again.
Thing I hate though is madden has an online bug in the lower right corner that stays up the whole time. Serious burn in if you use it too much.

Tell me about it. I was used to 36" wega(bedroom) and a 55" pioneer(living room ps3..dvd..vhs..etc) b4 moving to FL
We left the WEGA with my mom and sold the 55...have since bought a 47 wide screen samsung..but in the time being..we were renting a 36" sony..man did I miss those inches :(

Video, I have an actual home theatre setup. The screen I use is about 4 metres wide. Its masive. Makes me feel sick when playing GT3 in the inside car view.
Hmm, so, is a scaler a doubler? I know we run TV and DVD at 1024x725 or something through this box or something. I don\'t really know much about it, dad is the expert.
-
Yeah, I know what you have. It\'s a lot like what I have. I think your projector may even be the exact one I have.
A scaler will take your video and make it certain resolutions to match your projector. Some have built in doublers and such. More than likely that is what you have. They are a couple grand.
My screen is only about 7 feet, but next house I\'ll make it bigger. It can go up to 300 inches. Not quite as big as my penis, but pretty big none the less.
The only bad thing about it is your right, it\'s too big to watch fast paced stuff. Like NYPD Blue. It sucks in HD on my system. Makes me sick.

When is Tekken 4 out in the US? Its out in two weeks here. It will be my first PS game, I thats why I am curious.
Can you make it run at a higher res? Or does it stay at 480 or whatever?
-
I can\'t imagine it can do more than 480p. Your doubler will pump it up more than that though.

PS....... as in playstation 1 , or something else.
I need to get more "geeky".......

:)

i thought it meant penis size....
anyways to get somewhat on topic, Vid how much did your theater setup set you back?

heh, well... umm..... My projection unit was originally used by the school board. It\'s a 30,000 unit. The school board has auctions all the time and my dad has gotten to be real good friends with the kids who take care of the inventory. He gives them hundreds of dollars as tips because they give him crap for like 10-20 bucks. Stuff that he turns around and sells for a grand. It\'s pretty funny.
Well, they didn\'t know what the hell this thing was. They thought it was a hard drive system or something that didn\'t work. So my dad gave them 5 bucks to get it off their hands. So, I got a 30,000 projector for 5 bucks. shhhhhhhh.... You can buy them on ebay now rebuilt for about 6 grand, but there is nothing better than a front projector. Blows away rear projection any day.
BTW we have 4 of them.. hehehehe
The rest of my system is in the thousands, but hey, back when I had money I needed something to spend it on.
-
True that..nothing better than spending your money on what you enjoy :)

I see nothing wrong with what Vid did, all he did was punish the stupid. and that is almost a public service.

Ok I have a question I finally decided on the tv I\'m buying for my B\'day it\'s a Samsung 30in 16x9 HD upgradable. I wanted to know if I\'ll be able to get progessive scan in all PScan compatible games with a component cable on PS2 & GC or would that require the actual HD converter box?
-
The HD convertor box would have nothing to do with the PS or the GC. It just brings the signal in from either a satellite distributor or the terestrial antenna.
I\'d think you would just plug it right in with the component cables, but to get progressive scan you would need the PS2 adapter which as far as I know has not come out yet. Although there are some 3rd party ones that I wouldn\'t trust. But I\'m an idiot so it may already be out and I just don\'t know about it.
-
I\'ve played on 13" and 20" tv\'s my whole life. Hell the "big screen" in my house is a 27" in the family room.
-
I know what you mean man...my 25\' rca tv sucks ass but that\'s all gonna change come Nov. Pscan:D

The component cables should be all that you need, at least that\'s all you need for the GC\'s P-scan games. I would venture to guess that is all that is required for the PS2 as well, but I have yet to try a P-scan PS2 game and therefore cannot definate answer.
Btw, at the moment GC component cables are only available from Nintendo\'s website which is somewhat annoying.

this might sound stupid...but what exactly is progressive scan,....and how would one go about aqurieing it???????
