I just imported FFXI, or placed the order actually. I wanted to know how long it usually takes for me to get it. The placed I ordered from usually takes about 2 weeks so they say. I just wanted to know how long. I don\'t want to wait another 2 months.

and they plan to let you play it online from the states?
and the game is in japanese, no?
-
Should I say congratulations or express my condolences? I\'m leaning towards that latter. I hope you (can and do) enjoy it, regardless. :)
-
Awesome! You gotta tell us how it is.. I\'m planning to buy the game when it comes out in the US (if it ever does...).
-
well if you can speak / read japanese, you are one lucky bastard!!!!!
-
Ive imported it, yes you can play from the states, hell you can play from anywhere in the world. Warning, EVERYTHING is in japanese, if you cant understand it, forget it. If you know Kanji then you should be ok, the install/setup takes about 2-3 hours and thats including downloading the latest patches/version up\'s for the game. Broadband has an easier setup. Once your setup, try and get on the Raganarok server as thats where most if not all the English speaking importers are playing. You will need a World Pass to do this. Believe me starting out on another server with no English speaking players is a nightmare, even if you do know Kanji. If you need help or setup advice just let me know.

So what do you think of the game tricky? (or anyone else who has imported it)
-
I do know some Kanji. And i practise all the time. And yes you can play from here. I don\'t know when I will get it though.
-
You know some Kanji? I say your screwed.
I seen FFXI at an import show last week and it is really, really, really full on. There is no way you could play it without being an expert in Japanese.

You can if you party with english speaking players on Ragnarok server. Gameplay is awesome and the world is huge. True that most if not all menus are in japanese, but if you know kanji you can learn as you go along. If in doubt speak romanji, most japanese players will understand what your saying. A linkshell is THE most important aspect of the game in my opinion. What this does is enables you to communicate with other players throughout the world. There is an importers linkshell at the moment which is housing something like 46 odd english speaking importers and its growing day by day. So you will always have someone to party with. For the first 10lvls you cant really move very far outside your starting city as the monsters are too powerful, the only way is to lvl up just outside fighting wild rabbits and the such, the other way is to form a party this way is better as leveling is faster an easier. Before you know it your level10 and you can really go out exploring. Once you hit level 20 you can start to ride Chocobos which is soooooo much easier than running accross the world to get to another city. There are ships in this game as another mode of transport as well as airships which are awsome. Everynow and then there are events hosted in the world by square, one recently was to find lost Mog\'s. Believe me this game is the dogs bollox, and it will just grow in popularity when the NA and Euro versions hit, whenever that may be.

Gawd damn.. between FFXI and PSO, I dunno if I\'m gonna have much time to any other gaming. How addictive is it? I mean.. is the gameplay actually smooth and enjoyable or can it be cumbersome in some situations?
