when I put in a game and start it there is a light in the PS2 (you can see it through the front grill)that flashes....anyone know what that is???????

it is a flash and it looks orange.

I noticed it after I installed the Network Adaptor.  It\'s an orange flash from the inside face of the Adaptor when you initialize your modem, it freaked me out at first as I thought the inside of my ps2 burst into flames.

has anyone noticed while playing socom that if you just tap the reset button your ps2 will go into stand by and not just reset?

.....i found that odd.  So now i have to press it once to go into standy and another time for it to come out of stand by.

Hey, I just got my network adapter yesterday and I\'ve noticed the orange light also.  This didn\'t happen until I installed the adapter.  I\'ve also noticed that I cannot reset my ps2 after playing games on the demo disc that came with the adapter.  If I hold in the reset button long enough (longer than usual) it will finally go in stand by mode...

I just found this explanation on google groups (don\'t know if it is true or not)......

"this is the internal HDD activity LED. the single flash is normal when power is sent to the network adaptor."

"Once a device is connected to the external "ss" bus connector the PS2
changes the way it will reset and power up/down. This is to allow
devices (such as a HDD) to safely shutdown. You need to hold the
"standby" button down 7 seconds approx to shut it down with the
network adaptor installed. All is normal :)"
