Mine would have to be Michael Vick. Even though he didnt get a win the first week, i think he is the best all around quarterback. He is also young and has a lot of time to get better. Who do u think is the best/your favorite quarterback?
-
Mine usually is Kordell Stewart, but after watching Tom Brady for the last three quarters of this great a$$ whooping of a game, he is becoming one of my more favorite people to watch!!
-
this probably could have been done in the NFL thread, but since I can\'t move it, oh well.
Mine would be currently Jeff Garcia, but fav of all time is Steve Young.
-
But this is asking about quarterbacks, i was thinking a lot of people would say who they like as a quarterback and tehres enough posts about nfl in general in that topic as is.
-
Tom Brady, no questions asked.
Honorable mentions: Donovan McNabb, Trent Dilfer, and Brett Farve.
-
QB\'s...pfft. Half of them belong in dresses. But, if i\'d have to pick a favorite it would be Vick, but still, he\'s not even in the top 5 of my favorite NFL players.
-
^^
I\'m with Fayded here, even though Steve Young is still my all time favorite player, I\'m a running back and defensive man myself. My top 5 players of all time would be;
1. Steve Young
2. Ronnie Lott
3. Barry Sanders
4. Dick Butkus (can\'t spell his name right though)
5. Ray Nitske
top 10
6. Deion Sanders (yeah I know he can\'t tackle, but was the best cover man ever)
7. Michael Haynes
8. LT
9. Derrick Thomas
10. Deacon Jones
-
My top 5 evar:
1) Barry Sanders
2) Barry Sanders
3) Derrick Thomas
4) Neil Smith (when he was with the Chiefs)
5) Charles Woodson (he was my favorite in college, but now that he\'s with the Raiders it takes away from how much i like him)
But Barry Sanders - will probably be my favorite player for a LONG time. And whoever says Emmitt was the better runner when they were both in their prime deserves to be beat over the head with a blunt metal object.
-
Barry was the greatest. And when he was playing he absolutly owned Emmit. If Barry would have had the cowboy line, he could have gone for 2500+ yards a season. Just think if Barry had the supporting cast that Emmit had, he would probably still be playing and would have shattered Payton\'s record, and Dickersons record.

THANK YOU!
Man, I guess there are people out there that have half a brain...
I think this living where there are 2x more Cowboy fans than Cardinal fans is really getting to me.
Usually when i try to argue it goes like this...
Them - "Oh Emmitt is the best, he\'s gonna break Payton\'s record"
Me - "I hope he blows his knee out"
Them - "You\'re just mad because Emmitt is better than Barry"
Me - "No, compare the offensive line for the Cowboys during the 90\'s and the Lions o-line of the 90\'s"
Them - "That doesn\'t mean anything Emmitt did it by himslef"
Me - "*sigh*"
Yep, it always goes somewhat like that, damn Cowboy fans.
Oh yes, those idiots on Pardon the Interuption think Emmitt was the best RB of the 90\'s. *shakes fist*
-
Walter Payton owns both of them.
-
Barry > Payton
Jim Brown = Barry
-
Top 5 players now:
1) Terrell Owens - So electrifying. Every time the ball lands in his hands my eyes just grow. The guy is the best WR after the catch to play the game. He can turn a 2 yard dump into a 40 yard gain. A huge player that knows how to get a crowd off their feet.
2) Jeff Garcia - Oh did I mention I was a Niners fan? Garcia is the new mold of QB starting to merge. The agile breed. The guys that are hard to sack and don\'t hold on to the ball. He makes up his small height with tremendous heart and is the toughest QB in the league. Sure you can say Culpepper or Vick, but look how big those guys are. They can afford the hits. When your as small as Garcia, and you take monster hits and just knock the dirt off your pants, than you have a warrior.
3) Tom Brady - I like this guy alot. He\'s got a great arm and works really well with what he has. He can float the ball over defenders or zip in a bullet. I not once doubted him or the Patriots and I would be surprised to not see the Pats in the AFC Championship game again this year. Brady really has all the ingredients needed to repeat, and it will take a huge powerhouse in the AFC to take them down.
5) David Carr - Had a good start but got rusty, but I see him shakin off his first game jitters and start actually moving this Texan team in the right direction. This guy is just like Tom Brady except rather than accuracy he has power. What he has is a cannon that can knock reciever\'s unconscious.
-
best running back, id say for the 2 years he was healthy terrell davis. But then injuries caught up with him and couldnt go a play without hurting something. Now, even though i dont like him, you have to admit Marshall Faulk is a good player because many times he has madew a nothing play and turned it into something.
-
My all time favorite player.

I\'d have to go for David Carr on this one. Although he didn\'t show too much of his raw talent this past Sunday, he did show that he had TONS of potential and the possibility to become one of the greats. He just has a beautiful spiral pass that just astound me every time. The best part is that he stays in the pocket, but he can take off if he has to and dive head first just like Steve Young used to. ;)
Of all time, I\'d go with Joe Montana.
-
You would have to be a Niners fan to say Owens is the best in football.

your a crackhead, WP was the greatest football player ever.
barry could run like a mother, no doubt, but walter could run, block, catch, and pass.
he had like 8 career touchdown passes.
-
Damn Luke I was just about to post his career TD passes.Barry couldn\'t block nearly as well as WP,couldn\'t catch as well either.
I consider Barry to be the finest pure runner ever, but that\'s not what a RB is.I guess it just comes down to personal preferance. Some people like a guy who runs around tacklers,I prefer one that\'s runs over tham.
-
Vapor reminded me to post my favorite current player, Terrel Owens. Since I watch every single niner game, I get to see alot more of this guy than most people. And every single time he touches the ball, he manages to something, whether it\'s catching a 20 yard pass over the middle, and juking the safety and running for another 30. Or if it\'s as simple as catching a short 5 yd out rout, stiff arming the db and getting a 1st down. The guy is amazing!

was i right!? i just took a guess that it was eight!
god do i know the bears or do i know the bears? seriously.
-
I\'m not completly sure.I thought it was 6,but I know you\'re a bears fan and figured you knew better than me.
-
Living in tampa I have to say it\'s hard to have a better QB than Trent Dilfer. He\'s a winner.
-
Well, favorite quarterback, at this moment, has to be Vinny Testeverde. A very close second though, is McNabb (go Orangemen!).
But, yeah, I\'m definitely more of a running back/defensive guy too. My two favorite players are Strahan and Curtis Martin.
And oh yeah...
Jim Brown>Walter Payton>Barry Sanders>Emmitt Smith
Like people said, Barry could run, but his game wasn\'t as complete.
-
1. Derrick Thomas. One of the Top 3 Linebackers of all time. Wonder if that will get any debate...
2. Ahman Green. Labled as a fumbler when he came out of Nebraska, even though Nebraska ran the option extensively. Traded to the Packers for a 3rd round pick, and is now the 2nd best running back in the NFL. **** you, Mike Holmgren.
3. Any Chief that played at Nebraska. Neil Smith, Will Sheilds, Brian Washington, Ed Stewart, Toby Davis, Eric Warfield. Nothin\' beats a Husker that played for the Chiefs, except for Tom Rathman, Roger Craig, and my man, Ahman Green :)
4. Joe Montana. Can\'t forget the day that he was traded to KC. Had to drag my dad into the living room to watch Sportscenter, becuase he wouldn\'t buy a damn word that I said :)
5. Cory Sleshinger. Sure, might be a Detroit Lion, but he\'s the best player that they have in the backfield right now. Great blocker, gets the job done. Oh, and ran for 2 TD\'s in the 4th quarter against Miami in the 1995 Orange Bowl :)
See Yuz.
-
Yeah I definitely like defense a lot better...anyway favorite QB...you didn\'t say NFL right?
Ken Dorsey :)
Right now though on defense I like the trio of Raiders secondary...Rod Woodson, Charles Woodson and Philip Buchanon.
Runningbacks right now Edgerrin James and Priest Holmes, man Holmes tore it up on Sunday.

Maybe, but without question the best WR. No one is better.

I would debate that 2nd best RB in the NFL part.
And what happened to #89 for the St. Louis Rams?
-
You aren\'t talking about Issak Bruce are you?You smack him in the mouth once and you don\'t have to worry about him for the rest of the game.I don\'t even think he\'s the best WR on the rams anymore,Torry Holt has really been coming on the last two years.
-
No, I\'m talking about their rookie WR out of Nebraska :)
-
Oh yeah.Isn\'t he like #4 on the depth chart?I\'m not surprised to see a converted QB struggling, what does surprise me is seing how well Antwan Randle El is doing. He could really turn out to be something amazing.
Back on topic,fav. QB right nowPayton Manning.All time,Joe Montana.In 4 Super Bowls he threw 12 TD\'s and 0 interceptions.

The comment stands just placing "WR" before in.

Har, I wonder what Unfocused has to say on THAT manner. Crouch - might even be out for the year with his shoulder problems. Had blood draind about 17 times due to infection...might be on the IR or the Physically Inactive to play list.
Either way, he still 0wnz. Death to the Sooners.
See Yuz.
-
Yes, ask unfocused about Randle El...but if you do, expect the response to have the words "trash" and "asshole" used numerous times during the post :D
-
Some guy doesn\'t like Randle El?Please fill me in on why. This sounds interesting.
-
unfocused goes to the University of Indiana, and had classes and such with Randle El. He claims that Randle El is basically an asshole in real life.
-
I can understand that, some guys are just so full of themselves.I used to do some work two houses down from Mike Alstott and had a Warren Sapp expierience once.
-
I met Steve young...he bought me an ice cream cone, I guess that\'s not much of a horror story is it?
-
Big differance between a Steve Young and a Warren Sapp.
-
yeah, Steve Young is a white Mormon
-
Steve Young\'s white?!?!?
-
I know, I was just as surprised as you are, when I first met him. I was like, WAAAAA?
-
Ok, Randy Moss > Terrell Owens talent wise. But Owens is the better WR because he wants it, Randy just goes out there and goes half-ass.
I didn\'t see Payton play, so I can\'t judge who\'s the better RB. But, if Barry played a few more years he would have broken the record, bleh, I dunno who\'s better....as long as Emmitt isn\'t even mentioned.
And you didn\'t know Steve Young was white? WTF? I hope you\'re just kidding.
And Vid, Trent Dilfer is the best evar! *rolleyes* (Tampa Bay is one of my favorite teams) Now there\'s Brad Johnson, *sigh*
-
I was kidding about not knowing Stevie was a cracker.
-
Yeah dude I know he\'s white.I\'ve been watching him since he was at BYU.I\'ll put in a smilie next time so you\'ll know I\'m kidding ;-)
-
I knew theomen was kidding, didn\'t know about ben_high though. Meh...*runs*
-
[glow=red]New question[/glow]
Who is the best CB in the league today?
My vote is a tie between Ty Law and Champ Bailey.
-
i like woodson
-
^^
agreed
-
My favorite is Will Allen. I think he\'s gonna be a good one, eventually. He did a hell of a job on Owens last week.
I don\'t know who the best is right now though. There are a lot of good ones that come to mind, but no real dominant ones.
-
again, im a huge broncos fan so i have to say Detha O\'neal. He is one of the best if not the best at covering the deep pass. Woodson is also a very good corner.
-
Woodson.
He was my hero when he was in college, thus i\'m biased and i say he\'s the best.
-
Eric Warfield *rolls eyes*
Favorite CB of All Time - James Hasty. Man, now that guy kicked ass. Most consistent Corner in the game for a while there, was one of the best defenders...then the Cheifs organization wasted him. Truly one of the unsung heroes of those great 90\'s Chiefs teams.
Present - No, it\'s not Charles Woodson. I saw him in a game last year...got burned horribly by David Boston, and that\'s just not right for an Ohio State vs. Michigan WR vs. CB matchup. Tell you the truth, I really can\'t think of one - they all seem above average at best. Out of all of them, I\'d probably have to say Rodney Harrison for the Chargers. Pure Gamebreaker.
See Yuz.
-
Best CB in the league...well thats really too easy...ofcourse its Idrees Bashir
Seriously though, Charles Woodson.
Yeah Randle El is a jackass btw incase you were waiting for me to reply about that.

Didn\'t he played for Michigan. If its the guy I\'m thinking about he was one of the most overrated college players I had ever seen. He\'s finally doing pretty good now though.

Says the Ohio State fan ;)
Though I agree he was overrated in College, he still was good. In my humble opinion, though, he didn\'t deserve the Heisman at all. Peyton Manning was robbed. Just like Tommie Frazier was in \'95. Eddie George had no business winning that award.
See Yuz.
-
He played like trash through the same year he won the Heisman, it makes no sense. Oh, and the Eddie George comment was a low blow. ;)
-
Not to mention untrue :)
There should be a buckeye looking smile on here
-
Eddie George not deserving the heisman is an untrue statement?
*looks at Tommie Frazier against the #2 team in the nation in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl*
*looks at Eddie George against a Bottom teir Top 25 team in Tennessee in the Cirtus Bowl*
Yeah, Eddie George deserved that trophy *rolls eyes*
See Yuz.

Yes, I forgot, one game makes the season
-
Well we all see whos talent carried them farther into their career.

Appernatly in Ohio State, it does. They lost to Michigan that year, too. Tommie Frazier - had the better year that year. Arguably the best collegiate football team of all time.
And on Bozco\'s note - the NFL doesn\'t let running QB\'s do anything. The only QB doing anything in the NFL right now is Michael Vick, and Frazier was just as good of a passer as Vick is. The only reason Frazier wasn\'t taken - He had blood clots, and still kicked ass.
Something about running for 199 yards against the #2 team in the nation in the National Championship game, pretty impressive, wouldn\'t you say? Too bad. Mr. George never had that golden opportunity. I wonder why *rubs chin*...
See Yuz.
-
When healthy though, George is still one of the best RBs in the NFL. Had Frazier been given a chance, do you honestly think he\'d be one of the best QBs? I sure don\'t.
Oh, and he wasn\'t nearly as good of a passer as Vick.

When healthy, yes. When unhealthy, the Titans actually turned into a good passing team. Eddie George is nothing, basically. Just another RB who gets injured frequently. Nothing compared to Ahman Green these days :)
Wasn\'t nearly as good of a passer as Vick, huh? Becuase you saw all of Frazier\'s games, I\'m sure.
And all we\'ve been hearing is "Tommie Frazier can\'t throw, Tommie Frazier can\'t throw! -- We\'re tied." - Chris Collinsworth, 1995 Orange Bowl
Fear the greatness.

Ever occur to you that maybe there was a reason people were saying he couldn\'t throw? Just a thought :)

has to be just has to be
JOE MONTANA WHEN HE WAS WITH THE 49ERS OFCOURSE!!!
49ERS ALL THE WAY!!!

Wayne Gretzky... oh crap wrong thread...
