Title: Animal Crossing
Post by: cridgedaddy on September 09, 2002, 11:56:29 PM
I was on IGN and noticed that this game got a 9.1; it is an insider thing, though, so I couldn\'t read it.

Is this game even out yet?   Either way, anyone know anything about this game?  Thank you.

There was a thread awhile back about it, which I don\'t know if it\'s still around or it got deleted in the shuffle of forums. I\'ll look up the link here in a second, but basically think of it like the SIMS but with cute furry lil critters. The gameclock is set to the consoles internal clock, so events happen weither your there or not. I don\'t quite think this is a GREAT idea, but it does help fulfill the illusion that it\'s a living breathing world you\'re watching and manipulating.

There\'s also a card reader peripheral (Not sure if it\'s included or sold seperately) which you can use to scan off cards you buy at WalMart or other stores which unlock mini-games, events, and secrets.

I\'m all over this game. It is a game that has no real end or no real point. Just to chill out in the game world and play old NES games or if you want, run errans for other animals. Great premise, in my opinion.

Comes out the 12th, if I do remember correctly.

Supposedly ships on the 17th, so some Blockbusters have it now for rental.  I\'ll be picking this up ASAP.  It\'s really quite unique, quirky, eccentric, different, and it sounds like pure fun.

Is this similar in any way to Harvest Moon on PS2?

Not sure. I never played Harvest Moon.

Animal Crossing is being dubbed by Nintendo as a new "communcation" genre, I believe.

Think Harvest Moon meets The Sims meets Zelda:MM, which then sleeps with Nintendo EAD.

It should be a nice, humble little game that you can potentially play for years.
