Do you feel differently about a console now than you once did?
My mind changes all the time...I was extremely content with my DC back in \'00 and shocked at the announcement of its\' death. I had to move on, yet I wasn\'t impressed with the offerings of PS2, GC had a meager line-up, and MS didn\'t have anything that impressed.
Eventually I became dead set on getting a GC. I was drooling over Star Fox screens, and just thinking of what next-generation Mario, Link, and all things Rare were gonna be like. I had seen that Star Fox was slated as a launch title, that\'s the only reason I wanted one. Well, Nintendo pushed it back to Spring...I got upset and pre-ordered an Xbox, 3 games, DVD accessory, and an extra controller. It was an impulse buy more than anything because I had not been kept up on anything to do with MS. I just wanted to jump on the new console band wagon.
I was also a little mad that PS2 "killed" my DC so that was out of the question.
Xbox
It arrived at my house on Nov. 15 with Halo, Munch, and Dead or Alive 3. I was extremely impressed and satisfied with my purchase...I picked up Project Gotham, NFL Fever, and NHL Hitz a week later. This year has been lack luster to say the least in the way of releases but this fall looks to make up 3 fold.
GC
I always intended to get one, but I\'ve decided to wait until Metroid, Star Fox, and Mario Kart are all out. My friend has one so I have access to play the big games as they come out. I still get upset with the constant delays, but I remind myself they always end up to be well worth the wait.
PS2
I didn\'t like PSX so I was dead set against PS2. Well, Final Fantasy X was the game that pushed me over the edge and prompted me to buy one. I was not happy with FFX, but was satisfied with games like Jak & Daxter, Devil May Cry, and ICO. The "Big Guns" like MGS2, GTA3, and GT3 did not sway me in the least...but I\'m looking forward to a few Sony offerings and 3rd party exclusives.
At the moment, I am impressed and looking forward to what all 3 consoles have in store.

im the opposite
the "glory days" of console gaming are gone
its gonna take a hell of a lot more than a couple updates (PDO, T&E, etc..) to change that
my GC hasnt tasted electricity since i beat RE months ago.
my xbox hasnt been out of the bag i took it to a friends house in to play co-op halo for 6 months.
my PS2 only gets two games placed in it. madden and socom.

PS2 - I still think it has tempting games, but too many hardware-related issues. (some that hold back innovation)
GCN - I still think it\'s my favorite, but it needs more 3rd-party love. Why isn\'t MGS:S going to GCN, eh?
Xbox - I like this system more than I used to. Good games, good future; like the GCN, except with no Nintendo.
Me = owns GCN and Xbox. GCN bought at launch, Xbox bought in August 2002.

PS2 - I still don\'t like the system much. If you would split my gametime with my PS2 (my newest system) between PS2 titles and PSOne classics that I missed out on by not getting a PSX back in the day, it would be something like 20/80 PS2/PSOne, respectively. My Sony library mirrors the attention it gets, btw.
GCN - Still my favorite of the consoles, though I honestly play my GBA more than anything else, and starting with Eternal Darkness, an impressive sweep of GCN games has begun and will probably carry me into next year, so by now, the GCN has more than made itself a worthy member of my collection.
Xbox - Still don\'t own one, and surprisingly, my dislike for the console and the majority of its games has actually INCREASED, over the past year. Heh.

Play anything on any console that was released before any of the current 3 and you\'ll ask yourself: "What the heck happened to video games???"

The PS2 is the only console where my opinion has changed on it. I never really enjoyed my PSX and assumed PS2 would be more of the same...which is true. The only games that I have truly enjoyed are ICO and DMC. I\'ve had alot of fun with a few others, but those are the only two that I would consider buying.
My opinion on Xbox has changed though. Before launch I thought it would just be inferior PC gaming...which couldn\'t be further from the truth. To be honest, the only games I like on Xbox are Jet Set Future and Halo, but Halo alone makes the Xbox a good purchase. Its easily the best game of this generation so far. Plus, its getting Shenmue2, Project Ego(the promise of this game has me drawn into it),Panzer, and Halo2. That\'s good enough for me.
My GameCube opinion changes from time to time. I thought this would be the greatest console ever with games like Smash Bros, Re:R, Star Fox, Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Metroid, Zelda, Too Human, Kameo, and Mario Kart. The problem is most of these games aren\'t out yet. Smash Bros gave me around 50 hours of fun with single and multiplayer, but after that there was NOTHING. Then there was RE:R...possibly the most disapointing game I have ever played. I never played of RE before, so I thought this would be amazing. Too bad the story was awful, the gameplay was horrible, and it wasn\'t even that scary. I thought the Cube was a terrible little piece of plastic at this point.
Thankfully Eternal Darkness came along and gave me a great gaming experience. Great story, scary, superb gameplay, and a reason to play it over again(different ending).
The Mario Sunshine came along and provided me with another great gaming experience. It wasn\'t as great as I thought it would be, but its still easily the best game I\'ve played this year so far. Now I\'m glad with my purchase of my Cube again.

AFAIK PIRACY and Sega\'s past failures killed the DC.
On Topic:
To tell you the truth, I don\'t care about the consoles themselves at all (except for the controller, but I can always use one of those adapters).
For me, it\'s more about the games. If I have a good time playing them, then everything\'s ok. Shame that most of the games I\'ve been playing for the last few years have been almost depressing.
System or company loyalty is lame IMO.

PS2 - Yes, better than I expected.. I never thought that I would own 27 games already! :)
GC - Im way more positive twoards the GC now than I was before.
Xbox - Still Microsoft last time I checked. Console has not proven worth my time. Opinion = not changed.

My opinion has never greatly changed on a console over time. I still see ps2 as the best console out there, gamecube is still the best fit for me, and x-box is still not a system I can really speak highly of.
What has changed over the past 2 years or so, though, is my opinions on PCs as gaming systems. I now think that they are by far the best way to go for gaming, in many ways. I didn\'t think that way before.

Somewhat. I\'ll explain..
DreamCast : I was skeptical entering into it. I had been one of those who bought all the Genesis add-ons and even the Saturn and for the most part , it didn\'t live up to my exceptations (at the time, remember, I had no way of imports,etc). I got a DC and ended up lovin\' it and still consider it one of the best consoles.
PS2 : I was excited about it until launch. Got it launch and was dissapointed with it for a year. Finally some good games came out and I\'m startin\' to enjoy it. Took long enough though.
XBox : I was a huge Xbox supporter until launch, where I think MS has dropped the ball. Ever since then I\'ve not enjoyed my Xbox , \'cept for Munch. My opinion has went downhill a lot.
NGC : Loved it from day one.

PS2: I was never looking forward to playing Toy Story when PS2 launched so I haven\'t been disappointed. With the exception of The Getaway(maybe) all games released for PS2 so far have looked as good or better than their previews.
GC: My mental image of Nintendo is a giant holding five year olds, their parents, and developers by their ankles, relentlessly shaking them down for every bit of loose change. While that picture remains set I\'ve softened a bit and realized childish looking games aren\'t just for children and Nintendo is justified in charging as much as the market will bear.
Xbox: Since IMO MS=evil empire, try as I might it\'s hard to be objective when looking at what the big black box has to offer. Not much point in going over what I\'ve seen vs. what was expected other than to say as far as looks go it\'s not even close to the ‘pS2killah\' some folks were convinced was coming. What has changed over the past year is my opinion of why MS released the xbox, from the obvious of wanting to carve out a slice of the console pie to it being more a matter of insurance against the empire\'s foundation being eroded.

PS2 used to suck, now it is merely tolerable. I never buy multiplatform games for PS2, because I always feel like I am getting shafted. Haven\'t played it in weeks. Looking forward to Vice City (GTA3 is probably still one of the few PS2 games I have played in depth), Shinobi, and...
GC - I actually bought one! It helps that starting in a couple weeks all my games will be free, though. Used to loathe the thought of playing GC games, but a few (namely SMB and SMB2) have great games. Looking forward to Sonic Team\'s next game, Metroid (sort of), Too Human, and PSO eps. I and II.
XBox - Didn\'t care at all for this console until Sega support was announced for it. Then I played Halo and Project Gotham and all opinions were changed. I bought it at launch and have since enjoyed many great titles, the most underrated console of this generation on message boards. I don\'t know why people choose to buy inferior versions of sports games and multi-plat games in general when 9 times out of 10 they are better on XBox. Looking forward to Sega Sports, Panzer Orta, Shenmue II (yes, I am a Shenmue whore!), Ninja Gaiden, Mech Assault, Steel Batallion, Halo 2, Project Ego, and Project Gotham 2.

I thought the PS2 is the best system of the three. I still do, though not to the extent of say the difference between the N64 and the PSX. Simply the support the PS2 is getting from developers, and the leaps and bounds that Sony itself is doing with its first party games adds to my feeling that the PS2 is the still the best (still has a ways to go from say, Nintendo and Sega at its prime, but still vast improvement in quality when a "Sony" game was for the most part 989 [989 still sucks, but even they are improving. Not to mention, Sony games are longer just 989, well, it never was, but 989 was the majority of Sony games before if I\'m not mistaken. We have developers like Team Soho, developers of ICO, San Diego team that made Mark of Kri, Naughty Dog now, and many others producing quality games]).
I didn\'t have much opinion on say the Gamecube or the Xbox. With the Gamecube, everything I heard about it before, I thought it was going to be another N64, except with better graphics. After seeing the games and the growing support, my view of the Gamecube is much higher then it was before. Especially with games like Resident Evil, Final Fantasy Crystal, and Metroid. Now, with this Rare thing, not sure anymore. But my feeling is, they don\'t need Rare to do well, and won\'t affect the quality games that Nintendo is well known for.
As for the Xbox, again, before, didn\'t think much of the Xbox. Heck, at first, didn\'t like the fact that MS is behind it (had an MS is evil feeling at first. I felt that MS is just trying to take over another industry [which I still believe, though I nolonger see it as a horrible thing]). After I look past my "MS bias", I did find a great system with great games like Halo (and subsequently Halo 2), Project Gothem, Ninja Gaiden, Sega\'s games, and other games that look amazing.

PS2-Not disapointed.Expected to see the results we see now earlier.Son I never got the chance to feel very very excited when bought it(especially when GC and XBOX came).Tons of quality games though
GC-Didnt like it much at first.I now like it more.Metroid and RESI!!!I NEED THEM!!If only the majority of its quality games were more mature...
XBOX-Hated it at first.Amazed and wanted it badly later.Lost excitement and interest after seeing mostly graphics.Example: DOA3 rocks visually but boring.

PS2- My console of choice. Hell it\'s even broke and I don\'t have the slightest problem buying a new one here in a few weeks. There are to many games to list that I enjoy on it.
XBOX- Never have been interested in this machine. However, Halo 2 looks promising, and I might buy one just for that game. I\'ve played many XBOX games, my friend owns all 3 consoles. So if I ever want to try a new game out, I head over to his house.
NGC- Not interested at all. Again if there is something I want to play I\'ll use my friends. He doesn\'t like it, the only reason why he owns it is because he traded for it. No game can come to this console that would make me buy it. I just don\'t care for nintendo. PERIOD.

I\'ve always been a PS user. I mostly play sport games and since I\'ve only used PLaystation versions I am at the least bias to the others.
Gamecube always seemed like a joke to me. I\'ve never seen a game I\'ve thought I must have fpr the GC, so the need was never there to have the console.
The X-box graphics from what I hear are amazing and that Halo is a kickass game, but after all it is MS and there really isn\'t any reason BG entered into the console market except to have a peice of the pie since Sony for a short while had the "microsoft" identity in the console market as the "the one and only one" since sega and nintendo fell on there faces.
So for now I\'m a PS2er and don\'t see anything that will change my mind.

PS2 - IMO, the best next-gen console this generation. BUT it\'s the best only because the other 2 sucks even harder.....the main drawback with the PS2 is it\'s horrible jaggies and shimmeries which shouldn\'t be such a major issue for a console of this generation.(not to mentioned the hardware reliability) If it\'s not for the games, I would have throw the PS2 out of the window....

Dreamcast - I really wanted this one to be a success.
PS2 - Well, who didn\'t see this one coming? Everyone knew it was going to be successful one way or another. Great console, so far.
Xbox - It\'s level of "suckiness" is very high right now, however, its future shows potential.
GC - It\'s good... It can do better.

DC - I got mine on 9/9/99 and loved every minute of it. It had a consistent stream of excellent games and IMO was the best console since the SNES.
PS2 - At first I was agianst getting one because I could easily see that Sony was putting less than stellar hardware out to capitalize on their success and that they were not trying to inovate AT ALL. Then I saw Madden 2001 and forgot all of that stuff. Not the best console or even a very good console, still it has the games. So, it has me.
GCN - I got one at launch. Boredom. Got Smash Bros. Joy. Three Months later....Boredom. I have not seen or touched a GCN controller since around May. Maybe I\'ll go back when Zelda comes out.
Xbox - My opinion has changed the most on the Xbox. I had no plans of getting one until I played Halo. I love that game. :D Anyways, I think MS has the best designed console this generation and are in a good position to dominate next generation. My MOST anticipated games are all coming out on the Xbox.

Oh yeah I forgot DC.It was a dream come true.My console of choice.The console that would bring Sega back to the throne.It didnt happen.

My opinion has definately changed, I use to love the PS2 over any other console, now I love it even MORE! My flatmate\'s xbox just collects dust \'cept for when we play around on HALO every now-and-again. Didn\'t even get a gamecube. I have over 30 PS2 games, and play the system a few hours every day. Altered might be proud to hear that I\'ve been playing the DC a little more than before, and am enjoying the surprising quality that the system has to offer. But my love is still for the PS2. One of the best investments I have ever made in my gaming life.

Why would you assume such a thing? I\'ve got well over 20 and my friend has at least 25. It isn\'t that far-fetched to have 30 or even more.
Don\'t make assumptions.
