Title: Armored Core 3 pretty sweet so far
Post by: EmperorRob on September 10, 2002, 10:10:25 PM
The intro to this game is pretty cool.  And by cool I mean totally sweet.  It\'s awesome.

While the movement is pretty familiar you can tell it\'s been re-worked.  There\'s also some new features/improvements of AC2.  You\'ve got the ability to take up to 2 \'consorts\' with you on a mission.

I haven\'t tried it yet but it says in the instruction manual you can jettison empty weapons from your mech and pick up others.  I\'ll write some more later if anybody\'s interested.

Can you play cooperative mode by I-link?

Thanks.

I\'m not sure about co-op but I will check it for you.

Once upon a time:

Yes you can i-link for 4 players.  There\'s team battle and battle royale modes.   Another interesting thing is that you can actually i-link 3 PS2s and 1 of them is for watching the match.

And they lived happily ever after.

From what I\'ve read AC3 does use the analog stick.

About damn time is all I have to say.

The only thing that I can\'t stand is the slow turning speed.  I hate being shot the hell up while I\'m turning at 1 cm per minute.

Other than that AC 1,2, and 3 are GREAT!

That\'s what made AC2 so frustrating. The lack of analog control! SHEESH!

Yes the analog stick is useable in this version.  Another positive thing is that you can assign each indiviual button config via the options.  The only bad thing about this is you can\'t assign the directions of the analog (to setup movement like most FPS TS, Halo, etc)

The turning is still slow but they have many new parts/extensions.  One of the new extensions is a turn booster.  I haven\'t tried it yet to see how well it works.

The cores are now divided into 2 groups: those with overboost, and those with \'orbits\'.  The new orbit cores have 1 or 2 orbiting parts that can be ejected from the core and fire on your target.  Not sure on the energy cost of this maneuver.

Didn\'t they take out AC3\'s online mode?

There\'s no mention of online mode in the manual or onscreen.

You can\'t play co-op for the missions.  The new cores (orbits) rock!  They basically have 1 or 2 pieces from the core that detach and hover slightly above your AC.  Everytime you get an enemy in your sights they automatically fire on him.

Something else I noticed in the manual is that some units can cloak.  But this can be countered by radar that detects cloaked units.

I haven\'t got to try out all the new parts b/c some are very expensive.  But here\'s basically the slots available for every AC:

Yeah. Im gonna get this one real soon.  I might trade some games this weekend for it.  AC2 was one of the first games I played for the ps2 and I fell in love with it.  Juslight and I (and another dude)  have had many of hours of arena mathces via Ilink.  I was really hoping that AC3 was gonna be online.  That would be friggin awesome.  Maybe they will come out with an extension like AC2 another age only it will be just from online use.

Friggin A\' man I HATE the fact that they can support 4 PLAYER Ilink with one other spectator screen,  but NO ONLINE MODE!!!!!!!  I mean WHO is going to bother to set up another TV and PS2 just so somebody can WATCH!!!!!

BAHHHH!!!!!!   They should just call the Network Adapter the "SOCOM machine"  Because that\'s about all it\'s good for right now.

I want my free Twisted Medal Online!!!!

I guess I\'m going to have to start playing those lame sports games to get full use of my "SOCOM machine".
