Got it yesterday.  I have to say its damn fun.  Way better than MOHAA.  Nothing like manning an AA gun and shooting down a plane.  I went online last night and played Iwo Jima (really fun - we held the island from the Imperialist Americans), Omaha Beach (much better than the MOHAA version), and Battle of the Bulge (this was the most fun).  Its great when you can jump in a tank and someone on your team jumps aboard and mans the machinegun.

I saw some people trying to use the standard jump and shoot that has become so popular in FPS\'s like Quake and Half Life - it doesn\'t work for them.  This game is a must buy for anyone that likes FPS\'s like MOHAA or RCW.  It is more realistic, but at the same time the controls are easy - even for piloting a plane.  This game also has a single player option which looks pretty good.  I tried playing the Battle of Kursk as the Germans and got whooped.  The AI for your teammates (bots) is my only complaint.  They don\'t seem to help you gain objectives.  I basically took my Tiger I to an objective point and captured it only to have the whole Soviet team surround me while my teammates were off doing who knows what.

I have played the demo since day 1... and I love it.. I play it everyday now :) But we Europeans have to wait till next Friday :(
There is so much to do in this game... My favourites are:
-APC full of infrantry... attacking enemy base, its so beutiful when u see 6 infrantris running out of that apc and owns everything :)
-Controlling the Destroyer... and have a teammate as a scout on the island, he gives u artiller targets with the binolucar and u can then be a like miles away... and shoot on all kind of targets. Its just great when I see enemy tank blow up from the Destroyer artillery cannons. :)

Love it! Played for four hours last night. We battled for Iwo Jima in one game for thirty minutes before we took it. I really like how you can choose your spawn point,  makes for a nice team effort. I also like the battle for Berlin and Stalingrad. Pure carnage. LOL Between that and Mafia my gaming days are filled for now. Got to go with a Ti card. Im greedy I have a Ti4600 and love it. Yes its a bit pricey but Im crazy like that. See you on the battlefield! Msgt Jiggs.

Advice... use the 1sp persion view.
I used 3rd person view in the begining, it was ok... but I never hit what I wanted to hit... bombed mud, dogfighting was imposible etc. So use the 1st person view :) And if u dont know... there is 2 different 1st person views in the plane.
F9: u see all instruments etc..
F9 x2: u only see a crosshair
I have practiced with airplane a lot singleplayer as well as multiplayer.. I can now fly upsidedown under bridges etc :)
Another advice is to use the torpedo bomber the way it is supposed to be used. If u have seen Pearl Harbour , u know what I talk about :)
Fly low over the sea... and drop the torpedo, but drop it only in deep water. And u have to fly VERY low, or else the torpedo goes under the ship.

Great game. Although flying planes is a bytch.. They need to add joystick support.. It\'s pissing me off using a mouse.. I hate using mouse for flying. I\'ve got a Saitek Cyborg 3D Digital Joystick, which is GREAT for flying games. and i can\'t use the bastard..  The Anti Ship cannon things are crazy (3rd or 4th mission).. Untill u get bombed by a plane :/

Great game... :)

Yea, i figured out what was wrong..  It\'s pretty crappy support. Configing a controller for the game s@#ts me. so i\'m just using the mouse..  I\'ve got 2 controller ports on my pc. (one on mb, one on soundcard)  I\'ve got a Sidewinder Controller and The Joystick, I\'m meant to choose a prefered device.Once i did that i could configure the joystick in the game. I\'ve got a throttle on my joystick plus roll, pitch etc.. But the game just doesn\'t support it all that well.. here\'s a idea of my joystick, mine isn\'t usb or gold.. but it looks the same.

Yea dumbarse.. maybe that\'s alittle harsh ;) there\'s what they call a FLIGHT SIM part in the game, thats when u fly a plane mm..   If you have the game, you would know this.. You can configure your controls or AIR, Ground etc.. It\'s not just a fps, You can fly planes, use tanks, jeeps, anti aircraft weapons etc.. ahh all good. I was only using the joystick to fly the planes. Although it doesn\'t support it as well..  Better then a mouse though.
Open mouth insert foot award... mm u just got it.

Omg !!!! Yamato all the way
I sank 2 destryoers, 1 sub and Prince of Whales with the Yamato yesterday ohh and 5 airplanes :) They sank me in the end, but that was after respawn for their fleet... I got the whole fleet on me... and had no back up :( Was fun though
Whats your favourite map so far ?
So, what is your favourite vehicle ?
Mine is the m7 priest artillery tank :) and Yamato ofcourse... that ship is so sexy !!!

i\'ve done that too.. quite fun. Spent a whole amount of time just attacking ships.. Funny when they sink too, because i took over the intire island, they had no place to respawn, so there counter scrolled down fast.. pretty funny..   I like to use the anti aircraft gun. The one you sit in.. It\'s kewl. My fav vehicle would have to be any of teh planes.. :)

I finally got the joystick working.  So my favorite vehicle is the big A$$ german tank, I love rollin up in that thing and laying the pain.  Im pretty good with the tanks, my second favorite is the Bomber, that thing is awesome.  Flying in this game is difficult though, but its alright.

Driving the battleships around is fun as well, escp if someone calls in a target for artillery, thats when you lay the pain!

I dont like the german planes... they are damn slow to turn compared to yak and the japenese planes.
And my new artillery toy have to be the russian rocket launcher truck :) When u first get a target with that truck... they have nothing to say, 6 rockets falling down from the sky :)
What servers are u guys playing on btw ? Im mostly on Boomtown #1 to #5 hehe

Kharkov is my current favorite.  I love sniping from across the map.  I haven\'t tried any of the ships yet.  I think the funniest thing about the game is when you run over multiple enemies with a tank - they sort of become like hood ornaments.  I swear I had like 4 of them plastered to the front of my tank in one game when I caught a group of them bunched up together.

Give me the Panzer IV over the Tiger anyday.  In the game it has a much higher rate of fire.  I find the Tiger (in single player) is always the #1 target of enemy planes.

Yamato is in Midway.

I like Omaha Beach hehe... all action is focused into one place, require a lot of infrantry teamwork. And scouts have to work together with the flatcher team. Its a great map for teamwork even though there isnt that many vehicles in it.
El Alamain is also great... lot of flat desert, great for flying low over targets with spitfire planes :) And damn fun to use the bomber and have like 4 spitfires support u in the air... carpetbombing enemy basecamps. Yesterday we all went into each our plane and 3 in the bomber... parachuting over the middle camp... I think I saw 7 or 8 parachuters in the air at same time... realy looks cool :)

Omaha Beach is a bytch on the AXIS side, Even when your in the bunkers above the beach. They still manage to pot u off, No madder where u stand in them.. I found the best spot for snipering is just abit above where the allies have to come up to get to the first bunker etc, I lay there as close to the right side of the mountain as i can when your facing the beach. Your covered from shelling and you\'re free to pot the bastards off. If one happens to get past because there is a blind spot when laying down, i pull out my hand gun and BAM, Good fun.

I play both, but haven\'t played Midway yet on MP.  BTW have you seen how much servers for BF 1942 cost!?!?  More than what most mp servers cost.  Something about using more bandwidth.

More bandwith and a much bigger computer. Requires a monster pc to run a bf server.
