Thanks, every bit of info on Halo 2 is well appreciated.
Alot of good news for some. They have a new engine that will make the enviroments and the spaces in them seem more unique, more vehicles, and the AI is going to be even better.
Tactical thinking on the enemy\'s part...that\'s just cool.
so far away:(
-
this is probably a stupid question but o well. Is Halo for Xbox only because it looks really fun but i only have ps2 and from what iv heard, tribes:arriel assault doesnt match up to halo.
-
Bungie is owned by MS, so yes. However, you can expect a PC version to be released probably a year or so later.
-
WOW!!!!!! I Hope more coming!!

Halo 2 looks awesome.
I\'m still playing through the original Halo, and it\'s a mixed bag altogether.. but definitely on the good side.
-
thanks for the info
but its hard for me to be the least bit excited knowing its almost 1.5 years away
-
^^^I kinda feel the same way. I guess I\'ll go fire up Halo again.
/me drools at the new vehicles.
I can\'t wait to drive/pilot the new vehicles.
-
MORE!!

/me shrugs
-
Nothing interesting yet....
pstwo... you\'re getting a little excited about this Halo2 stuff...
-
Very cool vehicles. I can\'t wait to pilot those...I also like the fact you can fit some troops on them.
Co-op play on the internet is going to rock.
-
Why wouldn\'t people get excited about Halo 2 stuff?
-
i believe that question answers itself

NEW SCREENS!! WOOO!! Sept. 25

great gfx but it\'s probably gonna have the same standard fps gameplay as the first one. I didn\'t find Halo the least bit interesting so I\'ll stay clear of this one too.
-
Master Chief looks AMAZING. And it\'s good that the tyres on the Warthog look better too.. they looked silly in the original :p
Can\'t wait.
-
All i can say.............   Game of the year of 2003!!!!!!
-
if it comes out in 2003, that is
scheduled for xmas, and you know what that means
-
Nice per pixel lighting
You guys should get quake tenebrea to get a taste of what this and doom 3 will be like
-
I think the excitement for this is a little premature as it isn\'t going to be released for over a year!
-
WOW, look at those incredible high resolution pictures.
-
now please direct me to some in game shots...

Galapagos isleand!

Well, if Microsoft decides to release a PC version of this one too, it would look that good... too bad it wouldn\'t be out until 2005. ;)
-
Looks awesome.Truely great graphics. But I really wonder how smooth the game will be.Halo1 didnt have smooth framerates.Neither Yakuza.Every game I can currently remember on XBOX with many textures, many characters and big enviroments run at 30 fps and perhaps slightly under.Seeing this game\'s detail, shadows, polygons and the possible number of enemies on screen I am kind of not sure if the framerate will let the game to be playable enough.
-
as any xbox fan can tell you
its not the framerate that counts, its the textures
-
And as PS2 fans will tell you, it\'s not the ugly textures, aliasing and low-polygon count that counts, it\'s the framerate. :)
-
yer a clever one
/me hands cookie to D-Day
-
i remember reading in a new magazine(EGM,i think) that Halo 2 was supposed to be released in spring of 2003. I dont know if i read that correctly though...but if it does come out sometime around there i\'d be very happy!:D

Hmm... the framerte never really got low enough to annoy me, even in two-player co-op.
Though Halo @ 60fps would look pretty sweet. Guess we\'ll see when the PC version comes out.
-
If Halo 2 is 60fps than it truely is a gorgeous game.
If it\'s not, I\'ll be pissed off. I hate games that have all sorts of high res textures and a bazzillion plygons/sec when they COULD have improved the frickin\' framerate!

Exactly! :p

Dead or Alive 3 comes to mind :) Even though it\'s a fighting game the environments are quite huge :)
-
hmmm why does the model look different in the two pics where he is sitting by the warthog and the other with the close up of the gun
hes looks really smoothed in one and not the other ??? hmmm
-

Halo\'s are more huge. And its textures are more detailed too.
-
i just hope the ending doesn\'t suck

yOU can\'t have everything you ask for, but it still is a awesome game and that is what counts.

Halo\'s textures are actually fairly washed out unless you\'re RIGHT up next to them..

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............have you played halo before halo perhaps may have the best textures on xbox. Have you seen the grass and the rock textures just plain amazing.:sconf:

FOR ANY game on any console or system
yeah but you can\'t fault us on wanting a silky smooth frame rate plus great Multiplayer options..
pointing no fingers

Maybe you should read what I said again.

i have had the same problem too.
why do you thing i start using LARGE TEXT to get the important points across for all the thick-o\'s around here.

The unwashed textures of the objects and surface near u seem to take a lot of hit to the framerate. Also the characters are a lot detailed than DOA3\'s.
-
what?
DoA3\'s characters are FAR more detailed than Halo\'s.
Can\'t figure out what you said about framerate :)
-
Personally I see lack of detail on DOA3 characters. Its mostly lighting effects that make the characters look great than texture detail.
I ment that whatever on screen is near you, seems to affect the framerate which are supposed to be in full detail(when near).

So you\'d rather the detail in a game be cut in half to get 60fps? You\'d never even know the framerate of a game without the developer stating what it is, anyone that thinks they can tell a constant 30 from a constant 60 in most games is talking out their ass. The only games where you\'d be able to tell is where the camera pans very quickly, with 30 it will be a little jerky, and that is really only in Quake3/UT deathmatch games.
-
not exactly, integ
anyone with an average set of eyes can tell 30 fps from 60 fps
ive been looking at monitors for so long, i can tell 60mhz from 85 mhz from 100mhz
3dfx made a demo that shows 30fps running next to 60fps and the difference is disgusting. if you have a video card capable of doing glide than watch this
http://www.3dfxzone.it/files/demo3dfx/demo6030.exe
and read this when u get bored
http://www.daniele.ch/school/30vs60/30vs60_3.html
-
And just see how Yakuza looks on PS2 even if its running in less texture detail. And I prefer Timsplitters2 than Halo(not comparing gameplay there) if u know what I mean.
-
Please Inteq
You play something like Halo or Red Faction, then play TimeSplitters and just TRY to tell me you can\'t tell the difference.
Okay, you listed FPS\'s.. how about Racing games...
Ridge Racer was released on PSX at 30fps. It was RE-released (as a bonus with RR4) at 60fps. The difference was HUGE. (Just 2 examples).
Or fighting games, or 3rd person games, or whatever.
It\'s not something that would deter me from buying a game, of course. But with the level of graphics we are at now, I don\'t CARE if one has a few less poly\'s and slightly less textures when the games can be MUCH SMOOTHER to play.
Take a look at Nintendo\'s first party offerings. Wave Race, didn\'t have extremely pretty graphics (great water tho), but it had a PERFECT framerate, even in 4 player. Same with Super Smash brothers. And others. THATS what I want to see.
-
indeed
ill take a graphics hit for true 60 fps
i used to play quake 3 with uber players that would strip the game of ALL textures for the highest FPS they could get
-
I always wished that beautiful graphics and high framerates would go hand in hand, it looks like my wish is still generations away.
-
^throws a rock at Hurricane...
Have they officially announced or hinted at the fps?
-
... In the newest EGM they said they wanted to keep the intence action while having it run at the same framerate(smoothness) as the first game.
There\'s a small possibility that they\'ll be able to bump it up to 60. Time constraints were the reason they couldn\'t do it last time. They have plenty of time now.
-
Let\'s hope.
-
I don\'t mind 30fps as long as it\'s a rock solid 30fps. The problem with 30fps is at times of extreeme on-screen action, the framerate tends to dip down around 20.. sometimes to 15.. and that\'s just unexcusable. It\'s annoying in games like Shenmue where the action is farily slowly paced anyhow.. but in a game like Driver2 where high speed is necessary to gameplay, it jus turns the entire title to trash. I would have easily sacrificed graphics for framerate in that title anyday.
Yet.. provided they can keep a rock solid 30FPS throughout the entire game, I\'ll sacrifice those extra 30fps for some enhanced graphical capabilities anyday.
-
DAMN! I wasnt a huge fan of the first but i must say that it was pretty fun. Im not a grafics whore but oh my gentle jesus these are nice. It really does bring an overwhelming experience to the table and im interested in how this is going to play. If it reaches 60fps then that might be the breaking point for me getting an xbox, (eventhough i still adore my ps2 :D )

please, when you work in a project like this, there is no such thing as plenty of time.
belive me, I have worked in projects for several big companies, and no matter how much time you have, you will always (ALWAYS!) end up short on time !
