I\'ve recently aquired a list of some of the US\'s most haunted places, and many of them are in the Bay Area. So I\'m going to go down there and will stay with a friend, and she and I are going to investigate these places. I\'m bringing my video camera, so that I might be able to catch some of the cool shit on film. Here\'s the list of places we\'re going to visit;
Antioch - Black Diamond Mines - These mines are haunted by the White Witch. In life, her name was Mary. She was a nanny in the 1800\'s when there was still coal mining in the mines. All of the children died of illnesses and she was accused of Witchcraft, then executed. She guards the mines and when people see her, she is all white.
Antioch - Black Diamond Mines - The Rosehill Cemetery - haunted by Sarah Norton, also known as the "White Witch". She was a midwife and on her way to deliver a baby her carriage fell over and she was crushed. She is seen in the graveyard floating around the tombstones.
Antioch - Brentwood - Gravity Hill - In the 1950\'s a school bus was driving kids home from a field trip. It skidded into a wash and all the kids drowned. If you go there, put your car in neutral around the turn, you get pushed up the hill. It\'s supposedly by the kids who died in the bus crash and they want to keep you from the same fate.
Antioch - "Gates of Hell" - In the middle of Empire Mine road, there is a Stuckko wall with a bunch of spray paint on it. If you like to take hikes, this is the place to go. There is an old Insane Asylum at the very end of this road. You will come to another gate then behind their lies this old decrepit Structure of a hospital. Many people were killed brutally in this place, and it is VERY haunted by not so nice spirits. Things have been thrown at people, they have been pushed and screams have been heard from the people being tortured by themselves or another.
Antioch - Rail Road Mine - At the end of Empire mine road, there is an old railroad track tunnel that is pretty spooky inside. There are bats inside it and you can hear voices at the end of the tunnel.
Antioch - Slaughterhouse - Empire Mine Road in Antioch holds about three haunted places and this is the first on this road. An old slaughterhouse stands in the corner of the road after the first bend. It is haunted by an old man who walks the grounds and makes sure that everything is ok, and that no one gets hurt while there. Strange noises are heard inside the first building where they chopped up the meat. Clanking inside of the circle figured tubes towards the back of the property. Chains clank all around and you can hear footsteps behind you like someone is watching over you. Just remember to watch your step!
Antioch - St. James Presbyterian Church - This old church, located on Leland Avenue in San Francisco has a history of hauntings. Late at night, footsteps can be heard walking up the stairs, doors shut, etc. Also, on more than one occasion, late at night, doors that normally open easily will be impossible to open, as if a ton of bricks is on the other side of the door. Later, the doors will be found wide open.
then the first weekend of October, she\'ll come up to Nor Cal and visit me, and we\'ll check out these places;
Grass Valley - North Star Mine Lodge - Was converted into a Christian boarding school in the 1960\'s. It was shut down in the mid 80\'s. Doors opened and closed by themselves drastic temperature changes pictures flew off walls windows opening and shutting these events were witnessed by quite a few of the other students often by groups of us at one time the temperature changes and things flying off the walls seem to occur at the same time.
Meadow Vista
This site, which now lies deep in the woods, was once a mental institution for many "crazy" children in the 1930s. There is also a hospital associated with the abandoned cabins that lies 10 miles away. The children, who were violent or depressed, were sent here for treatment. Children who misbehaved were strapped to the beds with belts and beaten until they were unconscious. Many the children were killed and due to this cruelty, the facility was closed and the gate around the hospital\'s perimeter was chained closed. Many have seen not only lights in the windows, but shadows of children as well.

So has anybody here explored the realm of the paranormal?

Awesome. ITS AN ADVENTURE!!111
Know any haunted places in Vegas?
-
Las Vegas - Bally\'s Hotel/Casino - It used to be the old MGM which burned down (with people in it) and Bally\'s bought the property. (The new MGM is located further south.)
Las Vegas - Benford Elementary School -Every 11:00 PM, a bunch of shadows appear by the windows. Some female weird shadow appears. Nobody knows what they are. They are some kind of paranormal activity. By the double doors, more shadows appear. People say [mostly a bunch of Asian kids] that they have seen more unnatural occurrences in the surrounding areas.
Las Vegas - Flamingo Hotel & Casino - This Las Vegas landmark is haunted by its founding father the infamous mobster Bugsy Segal. Guests lounging by the pool in the late evening hours when the pool is less crowded see the apparition of him. And a cleaning lady quit after seeing Bugsy on the fifth floor.
Las Vegas - Las Vegas Academy Main Theatre - Since the opening of the theatre students have reported hearing strange sounds and seeing the apparition of an elderly main named "Mr. Petre". The legend says the man used to live on the property before the theatre was built in the 1930\'s and appears when the theatre is empty.
Las Vegas - Luxor Hotel and Casino - is said to have a ghost of two construction workers that died while building the Pyramid.
Las Vegas - Nellis Air force base - a grayish figure and footsteps are observed here.
Las Vegas - Sahara and Sandhill - If you drive down the dirt roads in that area you may be chased by an elderly woman in a car. If you leave the street she won\'t follow.
Las Vegas - Traylor Home - Ghostly apparitions and a phantom cat have been seen in the master bathroom.
Las Vegas - Tropicana Hotel & Casino - Over the years visitors to this hotel are greeted at the entrance by a large tiki mask face, and many people have reported getting a terrible purple rash after touching it. And when people take pictures in front of it they report seeing a strange purple hazy cloud of smoke in the picture after they developed the pictures.
Las Vegas - Whiskey Pete\'s Casino - Whiskey Pete\'s ghost is watching players play in his casino.
-
Even though me and you don\'t get along on many things...
That takes some balls to go out and do that...
Good Luck.

They were cornered however, and when her gun misfired her husband was killed. She was sentenced to be hanged, and her only request was that she be allowed to be dressed as a woman. The building has been the site of a number of freak accidents including fires and structural collapses.

I used to drive past that place on my way home from work/school. It is a very spooky looking place. The whole area has been chained up for as long as I canremember. A couple of friends and I were going to go up to the building but got a really bad feeling right before we hoped the gate and left.

I want to see that video.

Hindsight is 20/20. We went to this club my freshman year for an underground hip-hop concert. The place had a really weird vibe. I have been to a lot of clubs in my time and this place was not right. Maybe its a coincidence and I just wasn\'t feeling the place that night. Needless to say I have not returned to this club.
[EDIT] I looked up the club\'s website to make sure I am remembering the right club. How could I forget the club that calls the different sections "Heaven", "Hell", and "Purgutory"?
-
Hope you come back alive!
-
if I don\'t, atleast whoever finds my video can make some cash of off it.

these two are the only ones that seem to provide a bit of a challenge;
Meadow Vista

--------------------------------
the Gates of Hell bothers me a little bit, because I don\'t want to become possesed or the likes and hurt the person who is accompaning me. I\'m thinking about giving her some type of weapon, just incase things go astray. And the Meadow Vista insane camp seems a bit hairy, because I have to drive 10 miles out into the woods to get to it, then I have to hop a big ass fence. I\'m just a little worried that if things get bad, and my car is somehow dead, we\'ll be stuck in the middle of the woods at 2am.
other than that, everything else should be cake.
-
This sounds awesome... if you do see and record anything, you gonna get the video on the net for us to see?
-
most deffinetly, I just need to figure out a way to hook my camera up to my computer.
-
Hehe, I love the Gates of Hell... sounds spookey as, well - hell.
Have you seen Session 9? You might wanna watch that movie first. ;)
-
Antioch - Brentwood - Gravity Hill - In the 1950\'s a school bus was driving kids home from a field trip. It skidded into a wash and all the kids drowned. If you go there, put your car in neutral around the turn, you get pushed up the hill. It\'s supposedly by the kids who died in the bus crash and they want to keep you from the same fate.
We have a place here in Florida called Ghost Hill. There are so many variations to the story i don\'t remember them.
But if you put your car in neutral here, your pushed up a hill by some unknown force. We use to do it all the time when I was in highschool. It was kinda cool, worked every time.
We also have a place called Cotton Bridge. Supposedly a mother and here new born went off the bridge and drown. The story goes if you take a candy bar, open it up and put it on the middle of the bridge. Go get back in your car wait about 10 mins then go and check the candy bar and you\'ll see a bight taken out of it.
We also did this in highschool, doesn\'t work everytime, but to my amazement on Halloween one night it worked! And we never took our eyes off the spot that we put the candy bar in. To this day I still am amazed that ghost story came true.
-
Where do you find this stuff? Also, got any spots in Chicago or Southern Florida?
-
What about Ft. Wayne or Warsaw Indiana?
There are a few stories about this railroad crossing up north of South Whitley. Supposedly a jelouse husband hung his pregnant wife from a tree near the railroad tracks. Supposedly if you travel those back roads you\'ll see her hitchhiking and can give her a lift. She dosen\'t say anything.. and appears like any other normal girl until you cross those tracks. She jus screams and dissapears. I don\'t believe it tho.
There\'s also an old Miami burrial ground out behind Ridinger Lake where people have heard what sounds like people running through the forest around them and they\'ve seen weird glowing lights.
We really don\'t have many ghost stories that I know of.. be we do have a monster. Up in Cherabusco there\'s a legend about a humungous snapping turtle that lives in one of the lakes. Fishermen in the area have reported seeing deer carcasses sheered in half and gigantic footprints. There was a story about how some guys caught it while it was on the shore resting.. but when they rigged it up and tried to haul it completely outta the lake it bulked and pulled the dudes truck into the lake.
There\'s a festival up there every year called "Turtle Days" named after the beast.
-
I don\'t wanna insult anybody but... do you really believe in those stupid legends?
There is a CONTEST opened in USA since 1999 in which you can win 1 million dollars if you demonstrate the existence of any abnormal facts or acts, like ghosts, ufos, all that stuff... NOBODY has been able to demonstrate that any of this stuff is not a fake. If you can, try it. You can win a nice amount of green bills.

Happy ghosthunting!

I live in Nellis AFB. I suck.

Kick ass... definately trying that sometime.
Las Vegas - Traylor Home - Ghostly apparitions and a phantom cat have been seen in the master bathroom.

Las Vegas - Whiskey Pete\'s Casino - Whiskey Pete\'s ghost is watching players play in his casino.
Uh, ok?

So what if you try to get jiggy with her? Will she just be like air, or can you touch her boobs? :nerd:
-
That sounds like fun... Dude, you should get it digital, and post it on the forums... for all to see, if you ever get anything.
Good luck man
-
Yeah man, where are you getting that stuff? And anything for Albany NY?
-
Good hunting, just be careful. There are still things on this world that we do not understand, call them what you will. See any good sites in cincinnati ohio. I know of one. It\'s an old cremetory we used to go to when I was younger. The road it was on was,get this, devil\'s backbone rd. you could actually hear sounds that sounded like wails and moans. Of course this could have been the wind or the partying:D
-
cool some are freaky
i remember watching about one, it was about a school bus that stopped on train lines, and was hit by a train, there is a angle up to the train tracks, as in there on top of a small hill... now if you drive you car to this place, and turn off your car, it rolls up the hill.... they done it on this show, and it wasnt fake, the camera angles didnt hide a ting, also after tehy done a finger print thing on the back of the car, there was all kida fingerprints all over it
any in rochester, kent , england??

There\'s the Sarah Winchester House in San Jose, if you\'d like to go there, theomen. They say her servants haunt there still. The house has 13 everything in every room and she kept building and building until it was a huge mansion of mazes. Sarah Winchester held seances too. You might want to go there. I think they\'re having this Halloween thing where you get to walk around at night with flashlights.
Also, there\'s a tour group you can join up with that explores the haunted places of San Francisco if you\'re interested, which is also for the Halloween season.
With a camera...try not to look through it every minute. You\'ll miss the atmosphere and what the place really looked like when you\'re walking around with the camera in your face. Trust me...I did that and I don\'t remember the places I visit as much as I do with the places when I wasn\'t holding the camera.
Hey I hope you have as much fun though! Hope you come back with stories.
-
Be sure to let us know if any of the ghosts rape you.
-
Oh yeah... or how many ghosts you rape
-
what website did you go to to find this info????? how about Ohio??? I know of a couple around my area...
-
Do Austin, Texas....
There is also a bridge around here that is sloped upward...if you put your car in neutral you will be pushed up. You can even see the handprints afterwards...there always near the left side tail lights.
Also, about 2 miles from where I live is supposedely a haunted house. It was actually featured on 20/20 about 10 years ago as one of the most haunted places in America...I have my doubts as I knew a family that lived there for 6 years and they never once saw or experienced anything.
However, one of my neighbors went horse back riding in that area and happened to look up at the attic window and saw a women staring down at her. The house was vacant at the time.
One more, there is a creek bottom which is really freaky to visit and there have been numerous stories I\'ve heard. The only one I\'ve experienced is when you go down there, something is throwing rocks at you. It seems like it\'s coming from everywhere. You can go down there in broad daylight and see for miles, but have no idea where the rocks are coming from.

I think this is a urban legend for every city. In San Antonio there was the same thing, and once people put powder on their bumper and hand prints showed up.
Don\'t be suprised if it doesn\'t happen.

here\'s the link to a site that has a bunch on there, for every state;

Albany - Cherry Hill - a unidentified ghost has been seen on the lower floors and terrace.
Been there, seen nothing
Albany - Junior College of Albany/Russell Sage - Fine Arts building on Albany Campus have numerous ghosts that still can be heard. Buildings were at one time a Children’s Sanitarium (Parson’s home for children) is located next door. This was a branch of the above.
Wouldn\'t go there, ghosts or not
Albany - The Capitol building - said to be haunted by a custodian who was killed in a fire many years ago.
Been there, seen nothing
Albany - The College of Saint Rose - There are 4 houses reported here to be haunted. 3 of them have been identified to some extent. One is a 7 year old little girl killed in a fire, another is a priest, another is a musician who committed suicide in Chicago and another is a gardener. The Dean of Students has all the details and gives a presentation on it every year. Many students have witnessed many things.
Albany - University at Albany - Mohican Hall - Located on Indian Quad. A young ghost is said to wander the halls late at night and has startled many residents of the dorm. The first known sightings occurred in 1994.
Albany - University At Albany - Pierce Hall - located on Alumni Quad is said to be haunted by the spirit of a woman. Nobody knows who she is or why she walks the halls late at night. Many students have claimed to seen this ghostly specter all year round endlessly walking the halls.
Leave it to college students to make this stuff up ;)
Albany - Wolf Road - Professor Java\'s Coffee Sanctuary - Middle age gentlemen seen in walking past mirrors but when you turn there is no one there. Workers hear noises at night and sometimes lights come off and on. Spirit does not like to be around when there are many people but late during the night you get a strange feeling of heaviness and even hairs sticking up on your arms. A spirit of a dog can also be sometimes heard and seen. Building has gone many extensive renovations. It was once an old house, and then renovated to a hair stylist, it also has been reported by several people to have been at one time a secret illegal meth production house that was shut down. Spirit has been felt standing behind people and in some cases breathing down their necks behind them or being lightly touched or pushed. The activity stems from the basement. Some workers refuse to go down there by themselves.
Wolf Road...wouldn\'t really think of that area as a haunted type of place. Of course, it\'s probably no coincidence that the stuff happens when no one else is around :)
Albany...pfft
Glenmont - Henry Hudson park - Haunted slave house - in the Henry Hudson park, there’s a road that will take you to the park rite off of RT9w. if you turn onto that road and follow it down it will bring you to a trail that is marked off no trespassing! The trail is marked with 2 large lion statues. If you walk this trail there is said to be a slave house where the white settlers had dropped off the slaves when they came in from the river. The rumor behind this is that in the 1980\'s 4 kids went in to look 4 ghosts and they never came back, so 2 cops were sent in to look 4 them and only one came back out, the other was never seen again. Also sometimes you will see the lion statues eyes reflect light like if they were glass, but there cement. This whole area is said to be haunted.
Well, I\'ve been in that area before, but never seen anything involving a slave house. This one is the closest to me, and sounds the most interesting. If I were to check something out, that would be it :)
-
Way to ruin a great thread shockwaves. Man you know what? You really suck.
-
If you guys like this stuff - do a search on abandoned psychiatric hospitals. You should pull up names like Northampton and Danvers State Asylum. Some websites have pictures of some creepy stuff!!! The morgue pictures really freak me out. Still some old blood samples and stuff. Wow found these links:
http://www.abandonedasylum.com/links.html
If you like the movies about asylums ie. The House on Haunted Hill etc. you will like these sites. I only wish some of these places were nearby as I would like to check them out. If you are in the Northeast you shouldn\'t have any problem finding one of these.

Hey I posted an entry on that page! In Georgia - Columbus - Springer Opera House. That place is haunted!
-
San Antonio - Six Flags Fiesta Texas - If you go to the very end of Six Flags Fiesta Texas on the west side of he park right next to the Chaoz ride, you will see a giant ride called the Jockers Wild. That ride has been closed for over a year because last year in April, a little girl who was riding it died while she got off the ride and some people say they see her riding next to them during the ride so they just closed it.
I was wondering why it was closed this year. I asked an employee but they wouldn\'t give me a reason.
I\'ve also been on that ride before...it goes backwards through loops, corkscrews, and the likes. It\'s extremely rough and there\'s always been problems with it. In fact, when I was on it. the ride got stuck on the tracks for 45 mintues.
They are making the track line/station into a haunted house for Fright Fest...I\'m so there.

Wow, nice site Omen... here\'s one I\'m definately gonna try here in a few days when I head to Ft. Wayne next. - Stairway to Hell
------
Fort Wayne - Lima Road - The Old Byron Health Care Center - "The Stairway To Hell" - The old health care center was shut down and a new one was built next to it. You can still walk around in the old building, and you can feel a very ominous sense all around you. Keep walking around until you come to a staircase leading to the Basement. The word "Basement" has been covered and people have put up the phrase "The Stairway to Hell" in place. Shine your flashlight down the staircase and you can see the end, but when you start walking down, turn it out. It has to remain out. As you walk down the stairs, it gets colder and colder, and more unsettling, but you can NEVER reach the end. You can keep walking for a long time and never reach the basement at all. But no matter how long it takes you to walk as far as you dare, when you turn around to go back upstairs, it only takes a fraction of the time to get back to the staircase. One witness reports, “We walked downstairs for 20 minutes once, and it only took us 3 minutes to get back to the top again. When we got back to the top, we shined our flashlights down the stairs, and once again, we could see the end. It is very very scary, and it makes no sense whatsoever.”
-
sonyman, go there, sounds very freaky, let me know what its like, sounds very very scary...... take a few pics too....
-
well my trip may be canceld, or I might have to do it alone. The girl I was going to go with has said she won\'t go at night, because it\'s on Bay Point, also known as Gun Point. I don\'t see a reason to drive 2.5 hours to see these places during the day.
However I might go down there and stay at her house, and just go to these places by myself. I haven\'t made up my mind yet.
-
man take her with you. to be honest i wouldnt do them alone
