Title: New gfx card... ;)
Post by: Samwise on September 15, 2002, 12:20:22 AM
I\'m seriously considering getting a new gfxcard.. but the thing is, my PC isn\'t really that fast anymore - only 466 MHz. But I saw a test in a magazine where they had like GF3 and Radeon 8500 cards tested on (slow) machines like mine, and it came out quite  well (60 fps in most games).

But now I have to decide... should I go for:

- GF3 Ti 200 (cheap)
- GF3 (faster)
- GF3 Ti 500 (even faster, even more expensive)
- GF4 Ti 4200
- Radeon 8500

The Ti 4200 and R8500 I can get for the same price - but I wonder which one will perform better in my POS, I mean, PC?

If you guys have any other suggestions, then feel free to add them.

PS. I can\'t wait to play BF 1942. :D

PPS. Don\'t bother telling me I should get a new PC; that\'s not an option right now.

Yeah, but only at higher CPU speeds... I have a feeling most of the cards will perform similarly on my PC. But of course, a Ti 4200 would always be nice. :D

I think I\'ll see if I can find a secondhand Ti 4200.

Well I got a GF3 TI500 128MB DDR for only £112, it was well worth it, running Warcraft 3 and UT2003 on full everything really does make me happy I spent a little extra.

Get a GF4.. don\'t get a card that you\'ll end up updating in a years time..  I wish i brought a GF3 or 4, instead of this shi#ty Gf2mx card.. If only i payed that little more..

I\'m planning on upgrading the video and sound card on my PC also. Probably getting a GF4 but haven\'t done research on soundcards yet. I want a better graphics card so I can play higher graphiced games. Gateway put a really crappy graphics card on my PC (btw, is graphics and video card the same thing?)
