Ok I\'m getting a new tv come nov but I really don\'t wanna buy a dvd player since I watch them on my pc cuz my current tv is a piece of shiznit and I got a 5.1 sys on my pc anywayz. I\'m gonna get a new card by the end of the year ands I was wondering when you hook up a tv to a video card though the s video do you get sound also or just the picture and sound from the regular tv speakers.
I wanted to know if I could use my pc\'s soundcard/speakers on my tv if hooked up via the s-video. Is it possible?

S-video connectors carry video only. Audio is carried by a different cable, or sometimes the same cable with two RCA connectors added on.
BTW there\'s no guarantee that you\'ll be able to view a DVD played on your PC through a television hooked up to PC\'s video card. You may encounter macrovision problems. I\'ve never tried it, but I\'d look into if I were you.

I use Windvd 4 and it has the option to display the image on a tv and even has various display options. I\'ve gotta look around more for some audio info then.

seraphim, if yer TV is close to yer PC speakers then their will be no problem with sound especially since u have a 5.1.
i got 4.1 speakers and regularly watch movies thru my cards tv out with no problem at all, at first its gonna be a little weird coz the sound will be coming from somewhere else but u will easily adjust to it (my tv is nearly a metre from my PC).
another option is to just move yer speakers to yer TV.

I was considering your setup by just putting the tv next to the pc. I\'m gonna have to rearrange my room when I get it anywayz. Thanks for the help. :)
