This game is out very soon in US, UK and AUS. Anyone got the JAP version?
Is it any good, are the arena\'s fully 3D? As in, can you fall off ledges etc like in DOA2?
Also, are the jaggies getting fixed for the PAL version like TTT did? T4 has got really bad jaggies in the JAP version, and I don\'t know why they didn\'t clean it up like the PAL TTT version.
Also, anyone tried it with progressive scan?
-
Tekken 4 jaggies???
i heard of it like a very clean game
it has an antialiasing feature
-
It has no jaggies.I dont know what he is talking about.
-
yea played the arcade and import constantly for the last year or so
ummm. . . game looks great and there is no edges to fall off - although things are all 3d
-
Doesn\'t the progressive scan mode need a special type of televison?
-
What exactly progressive scan is?
-
to answer your question about progressive scan I\'ll post an old link ign had explaining what it was and the benefits. Note this is from a gamecube article so you may see the name gamecube in there a few times.
As you have probably gathered by now, progressive scan is the most important factor when it comes to GameCube\'s digital video output. By hooking your GameCube up to a progressive scan capable TV you will be able to see 60 full frames every second as opposed to 30 full frames per second. This means every frame of a game running at 60 frames per second can be seen. This is as opposed to normal television sets, which produce a 480i (interlaced) picture. Interlaced pictures are never presented as one consistent picture , but rather are broken up like window blinds.
Non-progressive scan TVs display frames in interlaced odd and even fields.
There are also only 30 full frames displayed each second as opposed to progressive scan\'s 60. The question then arises, if a game is running at 60 frames per second, can you see the difference (as opposed to 30) on your non-HDTV? Absolutely. A normal 480i TV will normally display one "half" (interlaced) of a frame every 1/60th of a second. Think of it this way. You have 30 different paintings and each painting is broken into two pieces (60 pieces total), so you can only show one piece at a time. You have exactly 60 seconds to show your friend all the pieces. To do this you\'re going to have to show one half of the painting every second. It is the same way with 480i TVs, because they can only display half (interlaced) of each "painted" game frame at a time. Conversely, a 480p HDTV can be thought of as a "full-framed" format. Going back to those 30 different paintings, you could instead show your friends the whole painting in one second. Meaning, every 60 seconds you could have shown your friend 60 of those paintings instead.
-
well its got 30 and 60 hzs modes, and p scan, and you can adjust aliment o the pic....
it good, its all 3d, but you dont knock peep off levels....
its good, but to be honest im still a bit disappointed in it, every ending has been very pants, ive only to see jlia and panda/kumas.....
i think ill be taking it back to get the thing on fri....
there isnt many new characters, i mean chrissie, is basically eddy. its a bit annoying there isnt many new characters...
bonus game is tekken force, but is it me, or is the one in t3 better
-
Very good, I got it a day before release, been playing it alot, I took a year out and didnt get TTT and got VF4, I am now back in the Tekken 4 grove and kicking some major ass, I still own with Bryan but my backup is now Steve, I cant beleave how good he is.
-
Do Wega Tv\'s have progressive scan?
BTW I think Bob\'s ending is the best in the series.
-
bobs?????? wtf??? whos he??
i actually think all the endings are very poor, i thought most in t3 were excellent, but i still think my fav was kazuyas in tekken 2
-
Bob is Howarang.Thats how is called by some people in some places.Because of its strange spelling he got the nick "Bob" as a short and easier spelled name.
-
I would like some opinions about T4\'s visuals compared to DOA3\'s.Some people call me stupid because I see T4\'s graphics almost comparable to DOA3\'s.
-
I think the gfx are better in T4
-
I\'ve ordered my copy. It looks absolutely fantastic. I\'m not really sure if it can be compared to DOA3, but knowing NAMCO it should be something special.
-
man i took mine back for the thing. im much happier..... its just tekken 3 with better graphics....... very dissapointed
-

Personally I see it as different Tekken.
-
well its prob cos my bro has moved out, so i dont get to play it against him, i used to love doing that...
but i dunno it just seemed way to similar to tekken3...
there isnt amny new characters in it either, chrissie is eddy, only new characters are steve, and marduk, though jin is kinda knew, but still has a lot of old moves , and i guess lee/violet are new, though he was in t2, but they have changed most of his moves
they shouldnt of had kuma/panda, id rather had jack in it than them 2
-
Kopking, you are the weakest link, goodbye!
-
no im not.. i dunno , i used be abe to play tekken on my own ofr hours and hours. i dunno though, i just didnt seem to enjoy it as much, i used to love learning all the peeps move, but i guess i already know them all..lol
also tekken force is bad, i prefered the one on t3 more
-
Virtua Fighter players (me) will hate this unoriginal outdated VF clone. Tekken enthusiasts will love the improved graphics...
The original SOul Calibur is still Namco\'s greatest fighter IMO.
-
Bleh, can\'t even spell Hwoarang....pitiful.
*fav Tekken character* :D
-
It\'s correct spelling is "Whorebag"
And it\'s the best fighting game I\'ve ever played. Followed closely by Virtua Fighter 4.
Kopking, you\'re on crack, Force mode is great (awesome graphics!) and the endings are perfect. You\'re just a graphics whore who misses all the FMV.
-
Does Tekken 4 runs in DVD format or CD format?
-
DVD
-
I was pretty disappointed with the quality of the endings (if they are gonna use in game models, then they may as well render it in real time. It looks kinda dumb with this super smooth rendering and kinda bad models).
Still a great game though.
-
Storyline wise, the endings were as good, if not better than any other of the Tekkens.
The sketched art with narrated voice overs were a nice touch..
I tell you, it\'s been a while since I\'ve played a game 2 player for 3 hours straight without getting up from my chair ONCE. Great, great game :) Also in this one, the characters seem to be much more even. In Tekken 3/Tag (can\'t remember about 2) Paul was EASILY the best character, but in this he appears to be on even with the others.
What\'s everyone\'s favorite level? Personally, graphically I like the jungle level the best. Nice rich greens, fine design and beautiful water :)
-
Pros :
- Pleasant to look at (though far from perfect)
- Classic Tekken gameplay (yum) with some new stuff
- Lei\'s in it (whee!)
- Tekken Force is suhweet! Me likey!
Cons :
- The arenas should be more interactive (and expansive), you can bring down tons of concrete with a few light hits, then you godfist someone against a big glass door and it doesn\'t even wobble? [Dr. Evil]Rrriiiight... [/Dr.]
- The animation sucks for the most part, same old same old... and all the clipping in most (if not all) throws... good grief...
- Crappy music
- Not enough new moves for most of the old farts, feels maybe a tad too "old"
I\'d score it a healthy 8(/10).
-
Graphically, they are all amazing. The beach scene is nice, though I would have liked swaying palm trees.
The Dojo stage is nice, though I am yet to unlock it.
Force mode has sweet graphics, though i always die at the end of the Temple (level 2).
I wish it had continues.
-
Hey Hawkey, I really liked the animation in this one. It looks to me like they\'ve really reworked everything. Clipping still exists, but nothing to take away from the gameplay.
New moves would have been nice tho.. :(

Are you guys playing the Arcade version or the PS2 version??????? it isnt supposed to come out here i the states till tuesday............
:hat:Scottyj:hat:
-
no its not cos it not fmv, i dunno, i just didnt like them, they were all to goody goody, or trying to be funny...... i wonder what bryan will end up like in t5
im not saying teken4 is bad, its still very good, but i was expecting more!!!
-
I didnt like Bryan\'s look in Tekken4.His face looks terrible compared to TTT and T3\'s and so are his clothes
-

:hat:Scottyj:hat:
It was released in AUS two weeks ago, UK last week.
I have had it since the 14th.
-
IC! 2 of my pre-orders are on tuesday (Robotech: Battlecry and Tekken 4)......I have bought 4 games in 2 months......(MAdden 2k3, Robotech,Tekken 4 and Timesplitters 2)
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:
-
Confirmation! I have it and it\'s sooo darn full of body bashing brilliance! Namco have done it again. I agree with Bob\'s Hardware. The voice overs are surprisingly good. Graphics is truly eye poping and gameplay is solid as. All that is really needed now is to unlock all charactors and learn all moves and comboes! Aye it is the most fun you can have with your pants on!
EDIT: Bob, what are you talking about? There are loads of new moves.
-
kopking you\'re on crack
and Law\'s ending was funny as hell
-
Notice how that seems the case with the Laws? They have all been humorous affairs.
-
I saw some endings for the game in progressive scan mode and at first glance it looked like pre-render cg. The models look like they could have been done in real-time as they are way too basic for a pre-render. Are the endings real-time graphics? If it is I\'m out of words, \'cause it\'s the best i\'ve seen.. EVER. Absolutely NO jaggies. It could have been a real-time render, but it would have jaggies present. Is the progressive scan that good? (remove ALL jaggies)
-
Tekken 4 is THE smoothest PS2 game ever. Probably the smoothest console game I\'ve ever played (graphically). No jaggies at all.
I still can\'t figure out if they are in-game or improved in-game.. because the in-game models are EXTREMELY good.. although subtle.
-
yeah was good, but dunno not really funny, i dunno i prefer tekken 3 more, but kazuya in t2 is my fav, would of been cool if they put all the old endings in there....
yeah there wasnt many new moves for the old guys :(
-
well you guys are lucky, tomorrow is the day when i get mine!!! i cant wait, i dont own any other fighting game so im looking forward for this one.........
ohh and by the way.....ill whup all yalls ass with hworang
-
Unlikely, Steve and Bryan own your ass.
-
I think the biggest improvement over previous tekken games is the fact, that most of the stupid characters have been thrown out. Who likes playing against Gon? I sure as hell don\'t.
On the other hand , they should have added a few more new moves for the old folks, cause I\'ve done the rolling death craddle a few to many times with King, the only new move I\'ve discovered so far with him is that new elbow drop of his (looks a bit like the Rock\'s people\'s elbow(sp?)
-
That\'s just a different looking version of his old elbow drop.
And Armour King had the People\'s Elbow version.
-
I\'m with SirMystiq...
Hwoarang owns Tekken.

Personally I can see jaggies.Or perhaps is it my TV?Does the progressive scan eliminate the jaggies?
-
I haven\'t seen any jaggies..
-
I see nothing but jaggies... :p
When I play RRV (lame one, eh). Tekken 4 has its share of \'em too, at least on my crappy telly. Too bad I don\'t notice them while I\'m playing this outstanding game.
-
i thought when you get punched into a wall and it falls down looked real poor, also would of like to get punched through waslls into new areans, floors etc, ala doa2
-
i don\'t think it looks that poor. I\'m not concentrating on the wall, i\'m concentrating on the fight, and it\'s VERY satisfying to hit someone so hard into a pillar of concrete to have it smash :D
And yeah, the DoA2 aspect could have been cool :)
-
They fall like fake dolls in DOA.
-
im not saying its bad at all, but unlike prevous tekken it hasnt done a big step in improving ti... do you know what i mean..
-
I bought it yesterday and WOW! he extras during the final FMV\'s......you know what I mean...I wont spoil anything.....and the FMV\'s are SWEET! and Blasting opponents through stuff is a definate plus!
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:
-
I actually thought the FMV\'s were quite disappointing. Sure, the stories are excellent, its just they seemed really rushed quality wise.
I would have liked to have seen swaying palm trees on the beach scene, much like the grass in TTT. I think Soul Calibur 2 will br Namcos true fighter.
T4 is still an AAA game though. The moves rocks, and the graphics are so fluid and smooth.
-
I know what you mean kopking.
Did you play it 2 player?
The game is boring as shit one player (I\'ve hardly touched it after practicing with Steve and Jin). And really only worthy as a multiplayer game. In which case, it\'s the best of it\'s category that I\'ve ever played.
-
I am spending hours trying to master the ultra hard mode with every character possible. The 2-player rocks.
-
"Ultra Hard" -mode????? Where!?!? I can only find this "Play against fookin\' stoopid bots who fall for stupid **it and just generally pose as much threat as a pile of hamster dung thrown at your general direction from three miles away by a blind, crippled midget" -mode... I think it was called "Ultra Hard" in my copy, yeah, but I think that\'s just a simple typo.
I need someone to play with... :(
-
hehe:)
-
not against anyone of any major skill..... but i used to play tekken 1p alll the time, practising, learning everyones moves... honestly i was amazing at tekken , no one could beat me, and was banned from playing it for years, cos i was to good.... im still good, but a shadow of my former self
-
I ll play against u when an online Tekken becomes a reality.
-
I\'ve heard it all, "I was bannned from playing it for years, cos I was so good" . Just doesn\'t get any better than that, does it?
;)
-
heh thats what i was thinking
and man i cant wait till fighting games go online
now thats gonna be the thing to kill arcades
which is good and bad imo
-
I haven\'t been to the arcades in years.
It\'s all good.
Kopking, it doesn\'t count when you beat your little sister 50 - 1 with her on 40% health and you on 150%.
And then threatening to hit her if she beats you.
-
This game is awesome its a must have for any tekken fan its my fav figther this year so far. GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!
-
look im not lying, i WAS excellent at it, was told by many peep i should enter a tournement, i really sat there and practiced it one my own, with every character so i knew all the weaknesses, and my mates were good, some very good, but htey couldnt beat me..... i played one kid noone could beat.. honestly. my mates was like rick (me) would beat you.... i hadnt played for a over a year....... we had it best out of 7 rounds.... i thihnk i beat him 11 games in a row. and he didnt win a round...... honestly im not joking, seen a vid of the guy who wona tournement..... my mates say i could whoop him.. honestly i spent stupid amoutns of time on tekken 3, learning it all. there was about 2 moves i couldnt do. one was paus knock to ground, then punches them a few times, turns them over on there back.....its in t4, but u could do it in t3 and t2, but wasnt written in the practice bit...
-
^^^big fat liar
:D
-
kop, if you played it that much and became that good, then you need to GET A LIFE.
Geeez.
-
I find it a bit hard to believe kop too...
I\'ve played against many people (in the army) with pretty much the same background story, and GOD did they stink at T3... :p
Next wednesday, there\'s a Tekken 4 comp in a nearby town (120km away). The winner will participate in the finnish finals, and then one lucky bastard will be sent to the European finals.
Too bad it\'s so far (got no car and pretty low on dough) and in the middle of the week... got craploads of schoolwork... :(
-
Are u better than the ones in http://www.tekkencentral.com
-
There\'s an Australian National Tekken 4 comp coming up.
I should enter :) The winner gets sent to London for some more Tekken :)
It\'s probably on the Arcades tho... I can\'t play on the arcades. :( Plus I\'m not all that good at Tekken 4 yet.. if it was Tekken Tag I\'d rawk over everyone ;)
-
i dont care if none of you believe me, and i played it so much cos me and my bro are like very competive... if i beat him i get to bitch about it to him etc etc, and i hate it when he bitches, but since he has mooved out i dont never play it, and doesnt hold my intrest as much.....
and bob im not lying at all.... though i suck alot compared to what i did before
-
I was actually surprised that some of the sample combos they had in the command lists required some skill
-
Yepp.. the end movies ARE real-time.. I can\'t really understand ppl who are labeling the end movies as bad, \'cus it\'s easily one of the best i\'ve seen ever. What\'s the beauty in a CG movie? Even a PSX can play CG movies of Tekken 4 intro quality. The real benchmark is the real-time movies wich let\'s us compare the quality between consoles, and right now I\'m really starting to get impressed with the PS2\'s capabilities... And it can only get better;)
-FluKe
-
I believe you Kopking. I used to be like that too with Tekken 3. :) Me and my brothers (although only one of them is actually a challenge, the other two are, um, less good ;)) have been playing Tekken since Tekken 1, both in the arcade and home versions. I grew up playing Tekken, so I was extremely good.
Now I suck though.
-
Just about every Tekken thread turns into a "I\'m better than you because I beat my brother and the scum at my local cade" scenario. I guess that\'s good and bad in a way. Good because it shows there\'s people who dedicate a lot of time to learn the many inputs and setups which shows it\'s truly a deep game. Bad becuase if you\'ve never entered a big tournament you most likely suck. Not trying to get people riled up but if you\'re good then you\'d be known throughout the Tkn community or have some awards under your belt.
I think Tekken 4 is trash. The 3rd in the series is considered to be the best one, and will probably be the best one of all the Tekkens. :(
-

Sorry.They arent real-time.
-
My friend bought Tekken 4 yesterday while it doesn\'t require as must stragety of the 2 mile and hour Virtua Fighter 4 it also lacks the insane hits of DOA but I still found it funny.
Since I pretty much suck at tekken I had Mastered Eddy in T3 but sadly he\'s gone in Tekken 4 so I tried Christina while I was a little rusty I managed to kill him a few times until I used Steve...mwhahah. This guy rules though once I got the hang of his dodges my friend cursed me out repeatedly cuz he could barely land a punch.
To add insult to injury after I beat him like 12x I offically retired from Tekken 4:D
-
yeah, i was better at t3 than t2, i played t1 but didnt own it, i played it on my friends ps1, when i got a ps2 t2 wasout. so i go that, but yeah my bro is actually quite good, but not as good as i was.....lol
he prob beat me now, cos he got ttt, i had it but felt unimpressed and took it back...
but i mean guys have i ever boasted about how good i am at a game b4??? no, its mainly my friends that say im good... not me, them
and yes i did spend crazily amount of hours learning combos / moves etc
-
but i mean guys have i ever boasted about how good i am at a game b4??? no, its mainly my friends that say im good... not me, them
..So they logged onto your account and started posting about how you were beating them so easily?
Damn man.
-
You were good only at Tekken3?Bah you arent that good then.
-
no i was good at all of them, but tekken 3 is the one i got banned from, then my bro moved out,,,,,
and bob, no i was just saying what they said,
-
You werent THAT good on the other ones then.
-
well i mean only ever played tekken 1 like 1 weekend up mates, but was very good at tekken2, and 3, but tekken 3 being the newer one, so learnt a few new things, like how to chicken etc
-
Edit: nevermind. I\'m not up for a debate right now. :)
-
Eddy is still in it.........beat the game with his Student and I think it is the Start button (Like you did to get Tiger) to select him. He has her moves....but most of her moves are his also.......
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:
-
Woah thanks I gotta try that next time I go to my friends house:D
-
Yeah I was gonna ask if anyone has gotten the hidden characters yet. I\'ve got the game for a week and it\'s ok but if I had to choose I would take VF4.
-
The endings are not realtime, they simply use the same character models on a more powerful graphics workstation.
As for Eddy, and Chritie for that matter, they both piss me off big time. The way they dance around and swing their legs... They are so hard to beat if the CPU is on Extra Hard...
-
About the smoothness of it. If you look close enough you might see a very thin outline around the fighters. That is what is giving the effect of smoothness, though it is very very subtle. you naver see it on first hand.
-
Eddy/Christie always has, and always will be the easiest character to beat in Tekken.
-
The CPU is very vulnerable when it controls Christie. She keeps laying on the ground and gives the oportunity to give her a hit or even a compo.Howarang can do a 3 hit compo when she does that by pressing down+left kick, right kick, left kick or Lee can do his uppercut kick, throw her to the air and start left punch, right punch, forward,lp,rp,forward,lp,rp,forward, right kick, left kick(9 hit compo).2 very nice examples.
-
I still like VF4 a lot more than Tekken4... the characters are much better and more likable and VF4 has a lot more depth.
T4 is still fun though
-
thre are actually 3 hidden characters (Panda, Eddy and Miharu Hirano (Lings School pal) the only one with an ending is panda......as far as I can tell.......
To play as Miharu.....beat Story mode with Ling and then press RK you also get she "School Girl" outfit by pressing RP.
To play as Eddy Beat Story Mode with Christie and then press RP to select him
To play as Panda press either kick button
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:

You never have been a good lier. :p
Mercury_Shadow:

I am not a huge fan of Tekken 4, but because I\'ve grown up with Tekken, I like its style better than VF4. I probably would think just the opposite if I grew up playing VF.
What do you mean by "the characters are much better" ?
You are the first person I\'ve ever seen argue in favor of the VF characters. I\'ve always considered the VF characters generic and boring, but to each his own I guess. :)
It\'s great that VF4 has "much more depth"...if you like that much depth in a fighting game. Tekken isn\'t lacking in depth (I think it is severely underrated in the depth category), but it admittedly isn\'t as deep as VF4. What does that matter though? Both Super Smash Bros Melee and DOA3 sold better than VF4 and Tekken 4, so that tells you something about the importance of extreme depth in a fighting game to the casual gamer.
KillaX:
Don\'t forget about the Lee/Violet costumes.
-
I couldn\'t even play VF4 because the graphics were so bad, they almost cut my eyes out.
Why do all SEGA games on PS2 seem to be lacking graphically? Even their DC counterparts have better visuals (Ecco, Ferrari F355). Shenmue 2 on Xbox on the otherhand is amazing.
Hmmm...
-
I don\'t agree that VF4 had very bad graphics racer, they weren\'t the greatest admitedly, but the were okay and have a few jaggies. VF4 has excellent playability also IMO.
-
VF4 graphics was off the hook G.
Tekken 4 are alright but sometimes you can see where they antialiased too much on the back of the fighters\' legs. Kind of like the seam of a GI JOE toy.
Law should be taken out of the game b/c I hate him. Hwaorang is the man.
-
Virtua Fighter 4 had horrible graphics!?! Wow, I thought it had beautiful graphics.
Even their DC counterparts have better visuals (Ecco, Ferrari F355)
You try comparing VF4 to VF3tB :crap:

oh yeah...I forgot about him that is Lee (LP or LK) or Violet (RP or RK) you cant select Lee until you beat the game with Violet.
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:
-
there is also a kinda secret player in violet/lee mishima... he was in tekken 2... the bloke with white hair
-
Jin is the man, he is my favourite character.
Combot is actually ok too, he is very fast, and I like that.
-
Once u beat story mode w/Hwaorang u can play as Jin.
-
I rented it. It sucks. Thats all I can say. The voice acting is one of the worst, I just mash all the buttons over and over and win. Levels aren\'t interactive at all. Single player gets boring in a matter of minutes. Tekken Force also gets boring as all you do is get the same enemies in different colors and sizes, as you keep doing the same move over and over, and over.
Just not my gig. Better than VF4, but still not a solid fighting game.
-
I wonder why in the replays the character graphics look misplaced. They look kind of "oily" and the enviroment lighting effects dont seem to affect the character models.Has anyone else noticed?

Jin is the coolest character in any fighting IMO.
Combot is as fast as the character he is mimicing.

well he never played vf4 in multiplayer, so guessing he didnt this either

How do you know?

ahh finaly got to play the game for a straight 12 hours.. I gotta say. It\'s unreal. GREAT game, Jin and Steve rock. I hate murdok though. The graphics rock too, if only you could smash em through windows etc. Great stuff though.
VS play it multiplayer.. See if your button mash tactics work. i would CAIN your arse all over the place.. button mashers.. BAH
Or try putting it on a HARDER mode.. easy is easy after all.

There\'s too many attacks that hit them when they\'re down. That\'s all the comp does to me otherwise i would be untouchable.

Untouchable? So how did you end up on the ground?
;)
You just gotta learn to get up quicker, or in most cases, get up slower. :)
-
I was kinda hoping after finishing with Kazuya I would be able to choose Devil. I think he can be unlocked somehow.

Yes, booby is right. Sometimes waiting alittle while someone sweeps you (bryan fury for example) is teh difference between getting cained again.. or having the sweep completely miss u. :) Good game though, me and my mate have the best matches. VERY close indeed.
I\'ve now learnt Jin pretty well. he\'s Square, X, Triangle, Square, Circle combo rocks.. or add alittle f,f X to the start of it and you\'ve got fun. :) Great game, although i just hired it.. Soon i shall own it

Yepp.. the end movies ARE real-time.. And it can only get better

Sorry.They arent real-time.

How do you know?
How do u know its real time:rolleyes:
-
From what I heard, it is NOT real time. It is prerendered using a souped up in game engine. If it was in real time, it would probably chug along at less than 10 fps. :)
-
I donno iron. I know there not real time.. but i think ps2 could handle them. Maybe it was just easier to make it CG
-
Yeah, I have no doubt that the PS2 could do those kinds of graphics if the developers put the effort into it. But like you said, it is much easier to make it CG rather than trying and tweak more power out of the PS2.

You may want to ignore Vapor\'s viewpoint, as I\'ve yet to see him say a fighting game is good - yet he still insisits on givin\' his two cents on them, even though it appears its a genre that he isn\'t quite fond of. Eh, Vapor?
It would be like me rating a football game and posting my review. Obviously, my viewpoint is goin\' to be that the game sucks, because I can\'t stand football and I don\'t have the foggiest clue as to what is goin\' on in the game. Therefor, the game sucks. Yes, it\'s my biased opinion, just like your viewpoint on VF4 and T4 is a biased opinion against fighting games.
Though I must comment. Vapor, if you was just "mashing buttons over and over" and winning , than you obviously had it on easy, because even on the normal setting the CPU would of beat you. My advice, take the difficulity up, try those tactics, lose and then decide to learn the tactics and depth of any given game, before you judge it for not being deep enough.
I do agree on Tekken Force though. It was a lame mini-game that needed quite abit of work. Not what Namco was hopin\' for, obviously.
Honestly though, Tekken 4 bites. The new characters look like someone from Tecmo\'s \'Team Ninja\' went over to Namco and designed them for T4. The endings was a complete dissapointment when you compare them to previous Tekken endings (tho\' the intro was awesome).
As for this complete argument about VF4 and T4 depth, well.. Iron nailed this one. Super Smash Bro\'s: Melee an DOA3 both outsold VF4 and T4, so depth doesn\'t matter to casual gamers and the fact is, depth just isn\'t craved in fighting games anymore. For the most part, the arcades are dead and the quest to be the best is dead also (\'cept in some parts of the country and over in Japan , where they are keeping the spirit alive.) .
The way I look at it is like this... VF4 does have more depth, maybe too much for some people. It requires an inmmense amount of time to just learn one character properly. And if you don\'t have a friend with the same amount of dedication, than multiplayer isn\'t fun, because it\'s an un-even amount of skill. Where as T4 has depth , though not as deep as VF4, it still has the reward for the player who wants to better themselves. While at the same time, it has a easier learning curve allowing for good VS matches and allows people to get into the game more. It\'s all what you want. I personally prefer VF4, but I also apperciate earlier Tekken\'s (I hate the new walls in T4!).
And why is it every Tekken threads turns into people boasting how great they are? THX nailed this one also. If you don\'t have any touranment wins under your belt, than you probably aren\'t to good. And even if you are - do you really need to brag? I understand the need for competetion and how it drives the ego, but I don\'t understand the point of it , when there is no way to back one\'s comments up. Someone clue me in? And honestly, do you believe you\'re that good? I mean, I grew up on Capcom fighters and have played them since I SSF2, yet I know I couldn\'t take on a hardcore SF player, therefor I see no need to talk trash and brag on myself.
The next time you guy\'s go to talk trash about how you was "banned" from such and such game or how you can "cain " someone\'s arse, I suggest you go download some video\'s of people with actual skill and who are not afraid to back it up and actually want to prove themselves, not talk trash to faceless people on a message board.

If this is lame attempt at Criticism towards my CAIN comment. I never said I could kick everyone’s arse and no one could beat me. I was simply saying VP is a button masher. Any half decent player at Tekken could kick he\'s arse. If he learnt the game or even a character then he\'d probably be a challenge. Till then, I will and continue to state. ANY button masher will get CAINED by a person who\'s bothered to learn the game. You even said it yourself. :) No button masher will grasp the reality of winning against a person that\'s learnt the game and no longer “button mashes”.
If this wasn\'t directed at me. Then I’m sorry. But the little "CAIN" part in your post kinda points towards me.. as I’m the only one that i believe even said it in this thread.

The dudes at Tekkencentral are really great at Tekken. They are masters.
-
Well, they were masters... until their little sisters banned them from playing it.
-
I wasn\'t trying to talk down to you, Souly. I was just using keywords in the thread to point something out. Basically, selective highlighting.
lol @ Bobo...;)

You biatchs need to start proving. What are some scores eh?
-
Hey Racer, are you planning on entering the Australian Tekken Championships in a couple of months time? I\'ll be there :eyemouth:
-
I didn\'t play it multiplayer, and so what? If I thought the game was lame in all its single player modes, how would its multiplayer portion revive it?
Great Fighting Games: Super Street Fighter II, Tekken 3, Super Smash Brothers, MKII, X-men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom War of the Games.
Primarily CAPCOM fighting games own. However I liked Tekken 3 alot. You must admit that this is the same thing except better graphics and 3D environments.
My opinion. I think its boring and during its 5 day rental, I stopped playing after the first day. Just nothing to keep me playing for.
-
Personally I cant see Tekken4 the same as Tekken3 except with walls and better graphics.
-
Hey guys,
I never played Tekken before, and I just bought Tekken Tag Tournament for $20(greatest hit). And I don\'t know how to play to win and see some ending. Your help is very appreciated.
-
Number one, almost all fighting games are rated on their multiplayer facet and how well it provides frantic and skill based multiplayer battles.
As for your list of game..
Good, at least it\'s Capcom games.
;)

Tekken 4 is alot more different then Tekken3.. Giving the graphics are better D\'oh, but the gameplay has changed quite a bit. Timing is different. Some new characters (wouldn\'t be tekken without some oldies) The game may have some of the old feeling in it. but play tekken 4 for awhile then play T3, you\'ll find there quite different. Mastering the Walls is good, the walls can be your best friend. Hell the roof can be too. :D

By the way... is my best friend Eddie a secret character?

That he is, select Christie using the Right Punch button and you\'ll have eddy after you complete it with Christie. but he doesn\'t have any of his own moves, Just hers.

U mean hers and his

Well I had $22 store credit at wallymart so I used it to get T4. The presentation of it all is pretty cool, better than I expected. Gameplay is fast with good graphics but it\'s still the same \'ol system.
I dunno what all the fuss is over the difficulty, I just beat Steve\'s story on Ultra-hard mode and didn\'t lose a round. It is harder than TTT but basic tekken skills save the day.
-
lol.. u did it with steve. That explains a lot. Do it with kazuya, jin or paul. Then it gets alittle more harder. :)
-
Heh, beat it with everyone now. I lost 2 rounds and had to continue with King cause I was trying to set up one of his combinations and wasn\'t paying attention to the lifebar. :P Everyone else though was fairly easy. We have this game at our college along with Tekken Tag, though Tag gets almost all our play.
Kudos to namco though for making the AI actually come after you instead of just sitting there like a log waiting to throw as in TTT.
