Title: LOTR Games/Which One?
Post by: Ace on September 16, 2002, 06:08:25 AM
I\'m looking forward to the LOTR games but I am not sure which one I want yet. I\'m leaning toward the Universal version more than the EA version. It looks like the Universal game is more story and the EA game is more hack-n-slash.

So which one are you guys thinking will fill your need to roam around Middle Earth?

That might be true, but there is always hope. Any advanced word on these games saying they are going to suck?

I usually do, but I\'m excited about this group of games. I\'m sure it won\'t live up to my expectations. :(

Surreal is doing a g LOTR game based off the books. They\'ve even hired some Tolkien experts to help them shape the game properly

Surreal is the makers of Drakan and Drakan 2... Drakan 2 was a great game. They will be using a good protion of the game engine from Drakan in there LOTR game

I suggest keeping an eye on that version as well....

I\'ve watched 2 versions of the game on Tech TV.

The PS2 game(which based more on the movie) looks fabulous with great animations...a bit like Omnimusha but I think the graphics more realistic.

The X-Box game(based on the book), suprisingly looks like crap Lots of lags and looks very cartoony.

I think I saw the same segment. Was this the EA game?

Is this the Universal game. Because I thought it was just the opposite. Not sure though. BTW, for some reason games on TV always look choppy to me.

Like I said do not ignore the LOTR game being made by Surreal

Ea\'s game looks cool and if based off of the movies

Not sure about Universal\'s game, but the preliminary Surreal shots and knowledge of how good Drakan 2  was definitely include it when you making your decision !!!!!!

Thanks ddaryl,

After reading your last post I found out that Surreal is developing the game for Universal. Here\'s a short quote and a link to the info.

Quote
All in all, Universal\'s The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring already appears to avoid the trap of the bad-game-made-from-a-movie, by not even having anything to do with the movie in the first place. But even better, Universal\'s game looks to deliver the rich details of the book that hard-core fans are so keen on seeing and playing, while proven developer Surreal is sure to make the game look and play right on the money. We\'re looking forward to seeing a lot more on this title in the upcoming months.

Check it out here (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/361/361198p1.html)

Maybe that\'s why I have been keying on the Universal game.

Thanks!
