Title: Piercings/Tattoos
Post by: Troglodyte on September 17, 2002, 07:17:52 AM
Funny how many body alterations you can get within a few months.

But seriously, let\'s share our piercing/tattoing experiences.

So one day a few months ago I got my left ear pierced (Cartiledge).  No biggie.

But a few weeks ago I got my nipples pierced.  Now that was an amazing experience.  I had two piercers do them at the same time.  Not even a full second after they pierced the skin I was riding on cloud nine.  My body got all hot, and a whole bunch of blood rushed to my head.  I was on that high for a good ful 10 minutes, then for the rest of the day I was just riding the after-shock.  Today my nipples are healing great.  I\'ve got about another monnth b4 they are totally healed.  I absolutely love them.  Having them pierced has got to be one of the best experiences of my life.  And believe-you-me, I\'ve done a lot of pretty great things in my time.

And on the tatto subject, I\'m planning on getting a tatto of the eye of ra, w/ probably a pramid in the backgroujnd on the inside of my lower left arm. (Just below the elbow).  I\'ve been drawing it for weeks now, and I\'ll probably be settled with a design by November.

So, how \'bout y\'selves?

C\'mon Trog tough it out and get it on your side on the ribcage,I promise it wont hurt.J/K of course,I used to work in a studio and most tatto artist won\'t even get one there.Me?I\'ve had both nipples done, eyebrow, one ear,and tounge.Removed them all for differant reasons. The ear and eyebrow just didn\'t look good, tounge because I get to many throat infections and would have to leave it out so long that the hole would partialy close and I would have to force it back in(lot more painful than the first piercing). And the nipples, well that didn\'t last too long before I relised bball and pierced nipples don\'t go together.You\'re right about the expierience though,it\'s exhilerating.

Got a few tattoo\'s too and don\'t regret them one bit.I\'ts not like the tat\'s you see on old people, since back then they used plain old india ink and now the ink is specificly made for tattoo\'s.They will fade some but unless it\'s constantly exposed to the sun it won\'t fade bad.And you really won\'t have a hard time finding somebody to re-coler if you want that done.

Just remember cleanliness and quality.It\'s permenant so don\'t feel like just because you walked in the shop you have to get it done, just walk out.And cleanliness is the most important.It\'s much easier for disease to be spread from a tattoo than intravenus drug use because of the amount of time the needles is going to spend in your skin.Clean needles right out of the packaging aren\'t enough, the equipment must be sterilized as well.

You\'re right, I HAD one on my right arm just above the wrist. I didn\'t like it 2 years after I got it cause I would always have to wear long sleeve shirts at one of my jobs to cover it up.

So I had it removed with laser surgery. Now I have a faint scar that isn\'t noticible at all. I plan on getting another one, but not where it\'s so easily visible.

Trog, you should try branding.  It\'s like a new thing and they take a hot iron and just score it into your flesh.  Can\'t remove it either.  There\'s even a class (I think in SF), where students get to perform the branding and receive the branding.

There\'s one dude, I saw on CNN, who uses his body as a hobby in collecting Disney characters.  Each time there\'s a new Disney movie he would have it tattooed.  He\'s got all 101 dalmations and couple of Micky Mouse hidden all over the place.

Me personally, my one earring on each ear is enough for me.  =)

This reminds me.....I saw a special on HBO a few months ago about piercings, tatoos, and branding. And the new "trend" cathing on, gun shot wounds.

Ya I\'m dead serious! This guy actually charges you money to let him shoot you. And it was funny as hell, they showed the entire thing.

Guy gives him money, he wipes some sort of liquid on his shoulder, (to guard from infection) Says you ready? On 3...
1, POW!!! Guy starts balling like a baby and gets in the ambulance waiting outside to take him to the hospital. He says "wow, thats going to leave a great scar"

Yeah we did branding at the shop too.You have no idea how bad it smells.I would have to open the front and back doors to get air circulation before we even did it,otherwise any customers that came in would walk right back out.

I saw that gunshot thing on HBO too.Can\'t wait for somebody to die because it ricochets off a bone and into something vital.

Most ignorant post in recent forum history. Why would you not pierce your nipples or gentials? If the pain is not a factor a detterent than there is plenty of reasons.

1) Personal body decoration and despite what you may think - it is not about being "cool" or having piercings or tattoo\'s people can see. Infact, a lot of times it is better to have hidden ones as not to have to listen to ignorant comments, etc. I\'ve had plenty of visible ones and non-visible ones and I must say, I prefer the non-visible simply because I don\'t have to listen to people\'s comments.

2) Pleasure. Yes, there is pleasure in pain. Since I\'ve pierced my nipples they are 5x more sensative - in a good way. See\'ing as this is a PG rated board, I won\'t go into the benefits of the nipples or gential piercings. Sum it up: pleasure.

Then there is other personal reasons that differ from person to person. Just because you think something like branding is sick , doesn\'t mean it is. I happen to know someone with a branding and it looks gorgeous. Same with some scarfications. Infact, I cannot stand people who seperate tattooing, piercings, branding, scarification and the other forms of body modification. It\'s all the same. You\'re altering your body. No form is more or less disgusting. And while you may not like it and can\'t understand why someone would do it (which is fine) - to think it is sick is very narrow minded. There is all different walks of people , from different lives and these people have different views on what is beautiful and what isn\'t. My idea of beautiful is an asian girl with a bunch of body mods.
Yum.

My bad, it\'s been a while and I had a lot of threads to go over.  Sorry I missed yours.

Piercing is not for everyone.  One must be in calm with their own self, in better awareness of their body\'s flow of energy.

N E ways, I\'m always hanging outside my flat w/o a shirt on, but I got the piercing for myself.  It was something that I wanted to do, I wanted to have the entire experience and have the memory/proof of taking control of my own self.

I definately didn\'t do it for my parents.  ;)

The tattoo I\'m planning is to be a visual representation of my own beliefs, my own self at this point in my life.  It probably won\'t be relevant ten years down the road.  But that\'s the point, I want  a reminder of when I came from, and a concrete step to let me decide where I\'m going.

BOZCO, I love the wing tattoo.  I couldn\'t get one myself b/c I don\'t have the balls for it.  But I absolutely admire those w/ the wing tattoo.

I think someone like LIC realizes this, while some kids I don\'t think do at all.  Thats why in reality I would never get one.  There is no way to stay in the same shape when your 50 as when you were say, 18.
Title: Piercings/Tattoos
Post by: Living-In-Clip on September 18, 2002, 10:51:44 AM
I realize this and I encourage people to realize this. I also encourage people to think of the consequences of any form of body modification. You take a risk of infection and many other things. Not to mention the risk you take as a social person , trust me people, it is not easy to get a job with a bunch of visible body mods and people set you into a certain sterotype-  even if you don\'t fit it.

The main thing when you modify your body is to do it for yourself. Not to do it for a girlfriend, or because your friends dared you. Don\'t do it because it is trendy and because you like a certain band - chances are you will out grow that band, but the tattoo won\'t outgrow you. Realize what you are putting on your body or through your body and what it means to you, as a person in the enviroment you are currently in. That is the best advice you can give anyone.

My other advice for people into body modification is not to rush into it. A lot of times you will get a tattoo or piercing and then a month or two later, want another. It\'s addictive, this I know, but your best bet is to wait awhile. I personally have a four year rule with tattoo\'s , the rule is based on the fact that I cannot get another tattoo for at least four years after my previous one and within that time, I must come up with the design and still like it \'till the time comes that I decide I should get the tattoo. Body piercings are not as bad , due to the fact that they are not permament, but the scars are! A lot of people forget that, but it is a crucial thing to remember. The scars from your piercings are visible and will be there for along time, if not the rest of your life. I\'ve currently got two scars on the bridge of my nose, neck and a couple others. They are not big scars, but they are big enough to have people ask a question if they notice them. Do I mind the scars? No. But, I knew from day one that I would have them when I got the piercings.

Sum it up: Think a lot before you do even the simplest of body mods.

I think it\'s mutilation more than modification.

And I have a close friend with over 50 piercings, so I have no problem with it. It doesn\'t bother me at all when we hang out. He\'s one of the coolest people I know.

/me applauds LIC

my thoughts exactly

if yer gonna do it, do it for yerself.  not because yer friend did it.

i see these kids that have these big tubes in thier earlobes to stretch big holes in them.  wtf is this?  yeah, that will get them a good job real quick, let alone the permanent damage done

but it gets worse.  i saw a web site a few months ago that featured a new method of body modification (mutilation).  it was people cutting thier toes off.    i swear to you, this is true.  they would take bolt cutters and clip off a one or all of thier 4 little toes on thier feet.  truly disgusting

There is laser sugery to remove if one really wants to..usually with little to no scarring if done correctly. Holes also close and heal(like my tongue and eyebrow) Ya cant tell unless someone already knew..

Well..2nd thought..those gauges in ears dont heal :D

I will agree to think long and hard b4 doing something to yourself though. It isnt like a pair of shoes you can just stop wearing.

eidt* missed the scars.. a slah across my chest..a slash on my left fore-arm..nice little scars above my left eye and on my right check. ONe on my left foot and I think thats about it.
