Title: need help ASAP, can I turn a CDRW drive off from BIOS

Is there a way to totally turn it off, its crashing my comp so much, it may be getting fixed tomorrow but for now is there a way without opening it to toally turn it off

yes, go into bios and set option to none

Yeah, find out what channel it\'s on and turn if off.

see where they say auto
change it to none for yer cdrw

when PC boots, it will tell you what each device is on

well I turned it off and that seemed to help, I dont think its looking for it now, I have my mate whos an IT tech coming round tomorrow, if its fixable he\'ll fix it.

Do you have auto-insert notification turned on?  If so turn it off and see if prob persists.  That or try putting the drive on different IDE channels.  That will at least tell you if the drive is funky.
