DELAYED!!!
Till January 2003
The Getaway is one of Sony Computer Entertainment America\'s bigger production games, with high costs involved as well, and it\'s one of the few titles that\'s made the jump from Sony\'s European studios to North America.
SCEA officials confirmed the delay with IGN today, after the changed date appeared on numerous retail sites. The reason? Like the man said, it\'s not ready. But more specifically, Studios Soho wants to make sure certain aspects of the game (not mentioned, of course) are handled correctly, while it also wants to polish and scrub the game so when it\'s complete, it\'s as perfect as can be.
With the onslaught of games barraging gamers this fall, it even sounds like a good idea. We\'ll have time to play it then, too. Expect to see The Getaway ship in January 2003
I guess now I have enough to buy another game, like Shinobi! :D

For a momente I thought canceled.I think these are good news because the previous release date looked very soon to me for the problems they had to fix.

I believe this game was begun to make before PS2\'s launch... more than 3 years of development?...

No problem, it will give me more time to play GTA Vice City to death first!

They just dont want to compete with GTA Vice City.

I seriously hope this game doesn\'t become a disappointment upon release as this delay will only increase the already high levels of expectation and anticipation:(

With the expected juggernaut of Vice City looming in the near future it\'s a smart move to delay and distance it from VC. As good as The Getaway looks to be, I honestly believe it wouldn\'t get the attention and sales it deserves with a release so close to Oct. 22

Vice City is EXACTLY why they delayed the game.
It\'s probably the most expensive game ever made (Studio Soho have repeatedly stated they they will not make a profit on the game, no matter how well it sells). So instead of being crushed by Vice City (even if The Getaway was better) they will wait and release it on the heals of Vice City for those who want more.
