Thats right, I just looked in the options and there is an option for username glow for those of you lucky enough to have 5000 posts!
-
Neat. Except for my crap IE that can\'t display the glow!
-
how can you tell how many posts you have anymore?
-
Check your profile - or the top 20 list under \'members\'.
Is my name glowing? I can\'t see the effect..... hehe, so I can\'t see if it looks good or not. :D
-
Download IE6 then, and the SP1
-
You didn\'t answer my question. :)
-
I\'m only 1100 some odd post away. Sweet something to still look forward to!
-
I\'ve check in netscape and IE and it looks the same in both, no glow as far as I can tell.
-
I don\'t see any glow either. It doesn\'t list glow color in your profile. Maybe it, like, hasn\'t been enabled yet or something. *shrug*
-
"username glow:
Enter in a color to make yer username glow. This feature will have no effect if you do not have a minimum 5000 post count."
Seeing as how I have over 6000 posts, the post count shouldn\'t be the problem...
-
I can\'t wait till[glow=red]Bozco[/glow]:burn:
-
Seeing as how my average daily post count has dropped massively in the last few months, it\'ll be another two years before you see
[glow=red]Solid Snake 88[/glow]
-
dont get excited yet, im still working on the code
-
I don\'t like the glow. BUt I will still do it because I am cool. And I like to do things that are cool.
-
Good I\'ll finally be able to see this type [glow=red]Bladez[/glow] when 5000 comes around.
-
Looks good mm. Im still working towards 1000, i think im almost there too :D
-
Just don\'t get it done for the next 8 months or so, and maybe I\'ll be able to use it then :(
-
Is it me, or why do the profile pages seem to take forever to load? And if you don\'t have an avatar, you can\'t see your profile.
-
yeah profile pages take a shit load of timme to load.
-
thats cause dozens of queries have to be exocuted when viewing profiles
-
*working on 100 posts*
:-\\ *shrugs*
-
hhmmmmmmmmmmmm, well i cant see anyones names glowing yet........
-
Vid\'s was glowing, but now it seems it isnt.
What would be really cool is glowing stars.... although it may get annoying...
-
Woohoo
Another 2 years for me.
-
bwahahaha Im closing in on 5k
-
I may regret starting the thread that inspired this new aneminity... I\'m a little worried that the names will not appear to glow, but will instead look fuzzy. Causing me to go blind at an early age.
-
well ive put mine as glow red, but ive als got my name colour as red, is this causing it not to glow???
-
No, it\'s just that mm hasn\'t finished the coding for the glow yet. You\'ll probably notice the glow being added on before long.
-
yeah, i added what code i thought was right and it made every name who had 5000 posts or more, glow red by default, or whatever hex code was put in
plus the glow looked terrible no matter what strength i made it
im still working on it tho
-
ok, it works, sort of
you MUST use hex codes and not color names
it added a stupid blank line between name and title
-
That\'s the ugly with the space. Try taking the
out of the end of that line. Since you already have a table in there, it\'s like putting in two line breaks.
-
the
is in the template by default
if i remove it, yer name and title will flow together
:nut:
yer gonna have to play with the settings to get it to look right
you must use a # before the hex code, and the codes might not show up exactly right
-
Where can I find these hex codes at?
-
here are your hex codes, dear sir;
http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/reference/color_codes/
-
crap, I thought a colored name was cool... now it\'s not hip anymore, "glow" is. Looks like it\'ll be a while til I\'m cool again.
-
it\'ll take longer than you think, my unpopular friend ;)

Then in that case, I know there is a way to use glow without the use of tables, which would fix the spacing. Let me see if I can remember it.
Ok, got it working on my computer atleast...
Right now, the code is this:
Try making it this:
mm
I also think the hex codes weren\'t showing up right because of how you placed the quotes in the color and strength area. If you had them the way I put them in the span tag, the color would show exactly, but the way they are, it gives it a red tint.
-
hows mine looking
and is the other parts like user title color and name done with hex as well or something else
-
The name and title part can be done with hex, or just by typing in a color.
-
thanks shockwaves, ill fix it later
im not good at HTML
-
Html isn\'t hard.. thought u were good at it mm?
i\'ll get to 5000 again.. Not far off now, I wonder how many posts i\'d be at now if i didn\'t lose my post count the first time i changed my name and from all the other problems.....
-
im a hardware god, always hated programming, whatever the language
-
lol.. I\'m fine with both. Now electronics ahh so fun..

welp, it worked shockwaves, thanks
but the glow colors still dont show up right
-
Ghee Whiz, ol\' Joyda truly should excersize his fingers now. The reward is truly tempting. Tempting to post meaningless replies - or in the words of the common member, Spam.
But I will not give in to the Dark Side.
Light Side stronger is. Win, in the end, we will.
Yes. Mmm?
-
Samwise\'s name has disappeared!
-
Nope, it\'s just dark with a red glow... at least if the glow\'s working on your PC (it\'s not on my PC, but it is at school - which is where I set the glow and font color :)).
-

For some reason, it isn\'t taking what is entered into the field and transfering it to the html. It\'s coming out in the html as:
Since it defaults to red, the glows will all appear red until this were to be fixed.
-
.$post[field9]. translates into profile field 9
which is where yer glow color is entered
-
Yeah, but the point is that, for whatever reason, it doesn\'t seem to be inserting whatever hex code is entered.
-
ok, well ive put my glow as #66ff00, that was meant to be green, but its come up red, where can i get the real ones??? real codes i mean
-
That would be green. The hex codes for the glow just aren\'t working yet.
-
wheee glow in about a year for me.
:p
(note this post was kinda intended for me to get closer to glowy text :p)

WTF bro? you glow hurts my eyes!!! Keep it! :D
-
Time for me to spam. I\'ve got a 1000+ to go :)
-
I say that since I helped mm with the html for the glow, I should get glow without having to reach 5000 posts :D
-
ehhe, find out why we cant change the glow color, and youll have it
-
Excellent :D
*gets to work*
-
Tsk tsk, the real glowers will know you cheated your way to it. :p
-
:)
Well, I have found this pretty hard to figure out without having a vb to personally experiement on, but try changing this:
to this:
This is the code used by someone who I know has this working:
$post[firstnewinsert]
$post[search]
$post[avatar]
Basically, they are just using the table form, which should make no difference, and their fields have different numbers.
Actually, when I tried it that way, it even changed the way I viewed the glow in just a normal html file. If it changes the same way on here, you might want to increase the strength of the glow a bit.
-
Now that I found some neat additions, I have no hurries to reach 5000 posts . My username is good as it is ;)
Samwise, your colour-combination is beautiful :)
-
welp, it wont work no matter what
im just gonna set it as white for now, cause red looks fugly
-
Most of the people who have activated glow have lost their names on my computer, all I see is black. That includes Dajo, Samwise,mm and probably others.
-
Thats because their name is in black and the glow doesn\'t work for you so you just see nothing.
-

Why thank you old fella.
I see other people have imitated my black username... they\'ll surely burn in hell.
But now mm says he changed the glow to white? And I can\'t see the glow at home... so basically I have no idea what it looks like now. :(
-
welp, i think im just gonna remove the code untill we get it resolved
-
meh, I tried. If you are interested in the place I was looking for information, it was here: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39289&perpage=15&display=&pagenumber=4
-
argg.. it\'s gone again...
-
yeah mine was glowing red, cant see it now...... is this the same for everyone??
-
Yours looks blue to me kopking!
