A buddy of mine asked me to post this to see what people think. Pass it along if you find it funny!
Hypocrisy... One of life\'s guilty little pleasures. Nothing says drunken, arrogant and unaccountable power than to tell people what to do when you have no intention of doing the same. All politicians are guilty of it. They lambaste their opponents for something while at the same time they either guilty of it right now or they will soon be guilty of the same thing after they get elected. However, Republicans and various other members of the right wing spectrum in politics like to take this hypocrisy to new heights as they push the limits of common sense. Either they don\'t know they are contradicting themselves at the time or they do and they just don\'t care (unless the voters catch on and then it\'s deny, deny, deny!). Having studied political science in University (because I didn\'t want a useful degree for 40 grand) and watching the news I have been able to keep track of the various issues that we face today and spot all the little contradictions our right wing minded friends are guilty of. Hopefully you\'ll get a laugh out of it but at the very least I\'m hoping that you will at least think about them and say "Hey!!! That ain\'t right."
Yes I know ain\'t is not a real word but since we\'re talking about Americans here... Yes it is.

The Top Ten confusing and infuriating examples of hypocrisy from the Republican Party.
10, They won\'t decriminalize marijuana for medical use because we need more time to study the health effects but they will green light genetically modified foods.
9, They say free trade is the way to go but they can become a protectionist faster than you can say "swing state".
8, They fight against Kyoto because it will raise energy prices, hurt businesses and cost jobs but they support deregulation of energy markets, which will raise energy prices, hurt businesses and cost jobs.
7, They feel that the best way to protect freedom from the terrorists is to suppress it (everyone watch what you say).
6, They say they stand for freedom and will fight against tyranny and oppression in all its forms but they support the flying of the Confederate flag.
5, They say single mothers are destroying society but they don\'t want women to get an abortion.
4, They will fight for the rights of our unborn children to exist but if those kids can\'t dodge bullets in their own schools... Well that\'s their problem.
3, They feel that more trade will help further the democratization of China and improve human rights but they don\'t feel that it would do the same for Cuba which is smaller, right next door, uses American currency and where the people drive American cars from the 50\'s.
2, We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.... So long as you\'re not gay!
Because we all know that a loving union between two Homosexuals is a far greater threat to the sanctity of marriage than a loveless heterosexual marriage based on reasons of immigration, money or power.
1, They now say we must fight a war against a vile, power hungry obscenity who possesses weapons of mass destruction. Yet before he turned on the West and invaded Kuwait, they didn\'t appear to have any problems giving Saddam some anthrax to play around with while he gassed 100,000 Kurds.
Bonus: They will push to have the mentally retarded executed but their corrupt business friends like Kenny boy only face a few years in club fed at the most.

To some people the Confederate flag isn\'t about oppression. I don\'t see it this way but people claim it stands for more than owning slaves, this could be true.

Those are two different topics. Allowing murder wouldn\'t help the society either.

No one wants a woman to have an abortion. THey just want women the right to have one if they choose to.

I was about to bitch a little, then realized my thread really has no main topic to adhere to.
Anywho..abortion IMO is a choice of those involved. Not to mention, the point where life begins is constantly in question. Hell, one could technically say when a man whacks off is murder if people really want to be sticklers.

People act like it\'s impossible not to have sex and breed like f\'n jackrabbits nowdays. You have a choice and there are consequences for it. Keep your legs closed.

What Leftists Hate Most

POLITICS IS, by its very nature, a reactionary enterprise. It\'s outrage — outrage about the existing order of things or outrage about whatever threatens the existing order of things — that provokes politically interested people to pay attention. At the heart of every political struggle is a sacred cow, whether it\'s the Second Amendment, the welfare state, marriage, or Roe v. Wade. On opposing sides are those who want to lead the cow to slaughter and those standing guard with shotguns at the barn door.
Because what outrages politicians, activists, and political movements often sheds more light on their motivations than any of their publicly stated positions, I\'ve compiled the following list of some of the modern American left\'s most reviled people, objects, institutions, and ideas. The list is broad but not exhaustive, based on a life spent around leftists (I have lived in three states: Massachusetts, New York, and California) and the observations of some astute friends.
These are the things that most infuriate "progressives," followed by a brief explanation of why. The mere mention of these words will cause the typical left-winger to see (even more) red:
Cars — especially SUVs; the bigger and safer the vehicle, the worse. For leftists, cars are a polluting, annoying expression of individual freedom — a painful reminder that the longstanding efforts of social engineers to herd Americans into mass transit remain unfulfilled.
Guns — and the irritating insistence of "gun nuts" (anyone who owns a gun legally) to look after their own safety rather than trust in the benevolence and capabilities of the all-protecting state.
Suburbs, AKA "sprawl" — and the selfish desire of so many Americans to own their own homes with their own garages and their own backyards.
Straight white men — especially the dead ones that once dominated classroom curricula, and any institutions where they once flourished, such as military academies, prep schools, and fraternal organizations.
Jokes about sexual orientation, race, or gender — unless they\'re about straight, white men.
Jokes about most anything else — except for the items on this list.
Traditional families — Heather\'s mommies both deserve full health benefits now, but married couples ought to be penalized with higher taxes until they either die or divorce.
Abstinence — and for that matter, all traditional sexual mores and anyone so backward as to demand them of their children, politicians, or clergy.
Tobacco — the one form of instant gratification the left won\'t permit.
Religious "zealots" — that is, adherents of any faith that that makes claims on truth, especially Catholicism, Orthodox Judaism, Mormonism, and Evangelical branches of Christianity (but not Islam).
The rich — anyone who has earned a lot of money no doubt did something wretched to obtain it and deserves to have it forcefully taken away. (Rich leftists excluded.)
The middle-class — and their contemptible bourgeois values.
The poor — so long as they aspire to become middle-class or rich instead of remaining happily dependent.
Vouchers — a threat to unions, social engineers, and the government monopoly on public education.
Home-schooling — a threat to unions, social engineers, and the government monopoly on public education — and a favorite among the religious zealots.
Standardized testing — or, for that matter, educational standards of any kind.
Real sports — the kind with winners and losers, where things like, height, strength, intelligence, or skill can determine outcomes.
Missile defense — and most other efforts of the U.S. to protect itself from foreign attack.
American "hegemony" — defined as any expression of American interest that contradicts the conventional wisdom of the croissant-munching "international community."
Red meat — because animal life is sacred.
McDonalds — for selling fatty foods containing red meat and marketing them to minors, and for doing what socialism never could: feeding billions and billions on the cheap.
"Big box" stores — like Home Depot or Wal-Mart, for killing the small businesses that taxes and regulations couldn\'t.
Pharmaceutical companies — for spending billions developing new, life-saving drugs, then charging money for them.
Successful businesses — they must be ripping off their "stakeholders."
Failed business — they must be ripping off their "stakeholders."
Nuclear energy — even if it is all the rage in France.
All other kinds of energy — except for those that are either untenable or prohibitively expensive.
Drilling for oil in ANWAR — and drilling for oil anywhere else.
Clarence Thomas — for acting, thinking, and speaking in a manner inappropriate for successful African-Americans.
Laura Schlessinger — for acting, thinking, and speaking in a manner inappropriate for successful women.
Rush Limbaugh — for thinking and speaking.
The Midwest — backward, uncouth hicks.
The South — backward, Bible-thumping rednecks.
The West — backward, gun-toting nuts.
John Ashcroft — a southerner and a devout Christian at that. For vilification purposes, he\'s the Newt Gingrich of the new millennium.
Police officers — Latent racists and unrepentant thugs, every one of the them, except for those who happened to be on duty on Sept. 11.
Laws that are tough on crime — and courts that are tough on criminals.
Individual responsibility — the government causes AIDS, poverty causes crime, and discrimination is the root of all inequality.
Anything that isn\'t safe — and anything that might not be safe. For more clarification, contact legal counsel.

Funny thing is that Teddy is just the king of the bozos that have been elected in this state. There\'s a whole list.

That was not a good choice for a response. So much of that article was vague and insubstantial, but that\'s just like so much of what conservative politicians and pundits put out as what they consider an "intellectual" response. They don\'t bother clearly describing the situation, and explaining why the Republican\'s utterly illogical solution is better. Just throw out some verbal or written shorthand like "libber\'ls don\'t like individualism" and "libber\'ls don\'t like red meat." Just push the buttons, and wait for the cheer from those who are already indoctrinated. They don\'t want anyone to think, just react.
Like this one: "Drilling for oil in ANWAR — and drilling for oil anywhere else." No mention of what\'s right or wrong about drilling in ANWAR, drilling anywhere, or even continuing to rely on petroleum for the bulk of our energy needs. Don\'t bother talking, explaining, or arguing. Just push the button.

There are wackos in both parties, but I feel that the Dems lead the pack when it comes to extreme nutballs.
Let me start by saying that I consider myself moderate. I am pro choice, not religious, but on the other hand very anti affirmative action. When I see all the programs out there to help minorities live a better life than I do and not have to work for it, it damn well pisses me off. I paid for my college - certain individuals (based on race) get theirs for free. They also qualify for special interest rates and loans (for example mortgages), which make their dollar worth more than mine. Who\'s fault is this? In my opinion its the Democrats. Neither party has done anything for me, but the Dems have made it so that being a white heterosexual male means everyone but "me" gets a free handout.
Back to the topic:
The whole Kennedy family is corrupt. I don\'t know why this country loves to idolize this family. Maybe they feel bad that Bobby and John were killed?
Here is the biggest nutball in my area - thank god she was voted out of office. This woman has stated that Bush purposely ignored warnings of the 9/11 attacks for personal gain amongst other things. Sheesh

Heh it was sort of entertaining... Neither party is outstanding since they are both controlled by lobbyists. Special interests are the big factors in DC now a days. Its a vocal minority who gets their way, unfortunately at the expense of the silent majority. When certain individuals from this majority speak up they are shouted down by these vocal "militants" and accused of being racist, sexist, whatever... I remember a Dateline (or 60 minutes) episode a year or so ago that focused on this topic. A bunch of feminists were so mad about a male speaker on a campus that they organized a protest and literally drowned the speaker out with chanting. When asked why the man shouldn\'t be allowed to speak - they responded because what he believes is wrong. Truly pathetic. So much for the constitution.

If it were funny, I would have laughed. Plain and simple. But it\'s not funny, except to the brain dead. I always enjoy it when people with no sense of humor accuse me of not having one because I don\'t laugh at their jokes. Conservatives are the most unfunny, yet self-congratulatory people in this country. How many funny conservative stand up comedians can you think of? How many funny liberal/progressive stand up comedians? I rest my case.

Oh please its all a matter of perspective. One could say liberals are the least humorous people around by pointing out they are always the most politically correct people around. I miss the good old days of TV when it wasn\'t a crime to be an Archie Bunker.

He can\'t. It wouldn\'t be very PC of him. Eventually, liberals like him will cancel Christian celebrations like Christmas and Easter coz it\'s not PC for us Christians to celebrate our religion in the face of non-Christians.
BTW, Asians are no longer considered minorities. Minorities applying for colleges will be either be "Non-Asian minority" or "Asian". Apparently, MIT and other hard-to-get-in colleges have to place a limited quotas on Asian students. Race is now an issue....but don\'t tell the liberals that.

As far as that article Ace posted, if you need to ask why it\'s not funny, then you probably won\'t understand the explanation. It\'s poorly written, disorganized, and internally contradictory.
I will settle on any one topic or issue to discuss, as long as it\'s not abortion. There\'s no way to sway someone who\'s already made up their mind on that issue, so those conversations always end in disaster.
Since affirmative action seems to be your pet peeve Gman, I\'ll discuss that, but you should be aware that I\'m not entirely in favor of it. I\'m not a democrat, and I don\'t follow anyone\'s party line. You\'d be better off picking a different subject.
