I may add a laser cut grill to the cpu fan/sink. For a kewl effect
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjab-tech.com%2Fcgi-bin%2Fimage%2Ftemplates%2Fdragonbig.gif&hash=eb71aa693333f91e0d28bb5acba506a04155ac41)

I may add a baybus, but doubtfull right now.

Will be fun to do.

All this will be done slowly. I may change things here and there. It\'s just a groovy facelift and also gives me something to do. :)

I found my case..

I\'ll keep with the blue kinda theme.. Blue lights inside etc. I may change to silver ide cables though. I don\'t really wanna buy a new case... Don\'t need too.

Post by: mm on September 23, 2002, 06:22:21 AM
ack, dont buy a pre-modded window

make yer own

oh, and dont be cheap on the case either.  buy a nice aluminum one

but actually, i have a better idea
save yer money, and buy a faster processor and that 4600
thats close to 150$ (987492375923 AU) worth of stuff up there

Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on September 23, 2002, 06:25:07 AM
Bah.. don\'t need a faster processor... The Ti4600 card i\'ll probably be getting, Getting prices tomorrow. Like i said, if it\'s under 500 i\'ll get it..
The aluminum cases i don\'t really care about.. Not right now anyway, Also i haven\'t seen ones that would match the color of my dvd, RW, disk drive etc.  Would look strange buying a blue case and i have cream/gray colored roms.
I could make my own side panel, i may have to if i can\'t get the panel.. But i rather a prebuilt one, i hate f@#ken around. I also like the inbuilt fan, it\'s groovy. :)

hmmm i\'ll pass.. Looks ugly to me. Although i\'ll keep my eye open for other ones.. Right now, getting the inside stuff is what i want to do. :)

Post by: mm on September 23, 2002, 06:44:46 AM
ugly?  stealthed drives are the shiznittle

10 minutes of work and some double sided tape gets you teh smoothness

i did mine last summer

lian li PC-82 aluminum case with side window
lighted rheobus
4 vantec silent fans
rounded metallic IDE cables
2 cathodes (1 blue, 1 black)
blue el cable around the bottom
2 stealthed roms

mm in those pics u posted how do u eject the drives (ie without going to my computer> right click >eject)
Title: Case modding, My next adventure.
Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on September 23, 2002, 07:08:05 AM
mm,  I\'m kinda tossing up between round metallic IDE cables or plain black ones.. I guess with the metallic ones u get heaps of reflection from the lights.. but in my case it would look strange.. Then again i could always just buy metallic ones when i get a new case. What did u use to cover the power wires.. I\'m thinking of goin to jaycar or dicksmith electronics and seeing if they have any wire Insulation plastic.. That coiled type that u warm up and it contracts around the wires etc.

Tyrant I\'m guessing u just add extra tape over the buttons, so u just push in a certain point and they open.

I may get this baybus.. Not sure..
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.psx2central.com%2F%7Esoul%2Fmods%2Fxoxide_1702_1506239.jpg&hash=d7608fd474680499c56105d3bcaa69808d9fa431)
Really depends on how many fans i end up having.. Right now it looks to be 4 case fans..

dont get a baybus, get a rheobus
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pccasegear.com%2Fimages%2Fbigrheo222.jpg&hash=a0513bbb138bee27fd8d298f4763ec038f673c43)

you can put yer cathodes on them too

i just have my power cables tucked behind the drives

to eject the cdrom, just push the bottom left corner

If i got that one, i\'d rip out the leds.. put super leds in them.. Blue and some other color red or green.

I always planned on modding my chieftec dragon full tower

plan was to cut a window into it, get some cool neon lights (http://www.flexglow.com) in the case and add a few more fans.

But I\'ve been too damned lazy to start on the project

Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on September 23, 2002, 07:54:58 AM
no need to cut.. u can get premade panels for that tower.

I enjoy the total outcome and adding all the stuff. Not making it myself. I HATE making stuff myself. Not meaning i hate building my own pcs.. but i wouldn\'t wanna build the stuff that i buy for it. Unless i got payed quite a bit, which soon enough i will be ;)

I might not even make a big window, I can get in touch with a guy who\'s apparently skilled with a dremel. I don\'t know who my brother knows him. But I might just design a small logo and have him cut it into my case.

Well, I\'ve ordered the IDE cables.. Can\'t get the floopy cable in the color i want right now, but i\'ll keep looking. I\'ve been told i may not be able to use the side panels i want. So mm, how\'d u cut out the panel. Did u do it yourself? or take to to a place to be laser cut?  I know how i can cut the plastic and fit it.. but cutting the panel will be a bytch.

=================

Don\'t worry, figured out how to do it.. I\'ve got all the parts to do it execpt a Dremel, So i\'ll have to wait alittle before i can do it.. :)

i replied to yer PM

i used a jig saw, although you can cut it with a dremmel (will take longer)

try finding a metal shop in the area, they\'ll cut the hole exactly for a couple bucks

they could even make a nice pattern

I replied back,  pretty much said this..

yea, i figured out how to do it about 5 minutes after I pm\'d you.. I\'ll use a jigsaw (have one) with a metal cutting blade and a Dremel for corners. Then I’ll use the Dremel with a metal sander to clean it all up. I’ll use urethane (used in cars to hold in the windows) around the edges to hold the Perspex with some Selley’s Clear bond or window sealer to hold it all in.  I may cut 2 holes in the Perspex to add 80mm fans.

Alot of f\'n around. But i\'ll give it a kewl shape so i guess it\'s all good.

Yea i\'ve found a window mob (not that kinda mob) that may be able to do it for me. Got to find out, maybe they will add it together for me too. Either way i\'m sure i can do kewl designs, with a dremel, corners will be easy. The jig will only be used for straights.

I\'ll use 2 grills over the panel fans.. 2 of these
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fjab-tech.com%2Fcgi-bin%2Fimage%2Ftemplates%2Fdragonbig.gif&hash=eb71aa693333f91e0d28bb5acba506a04155ac41)
I\'ll reverse one so the heads are facing each other.. :)
