Title: PS2 version of NFS spanks X-box and GC versions
Post by: jiggs on September 23, 2002, 08:45:07 PM
PS2 NFS hot pursuit has been called one of the best driving games yet....on the ps2. Not only that The X-box version on the other hand  cant touch it(EGM) and the cube version is woeful.  That is a change concidering I will always buy any crossover games to play on the box first. Give this one to the PS2.

According to EGM its faster better looking and to no suprise controls are superior. The X-Box and GC offerings are just second rate.

Well when your main target is the PS2, and you\'re not expecting the sales to be anything impressive on XB or GCN, you can\'t really blame them for not putting any effort into making decents ports..

But it\'s still silly.

And now mm has Spy Hunter, Madden 2003 and NFS:HP2 to throw in the XBox fans\' faces :p

IMO EA is still PS2 first then PC second. Even though they were supposed to have a hand in the design of the X-box and the internal HD. Everything seems to be released as far as consoles go on the PS2 before the others. Versions on the X-box and the GC are an afterthought.

honestly, I was looking forward to this game. I really was, as I am a fan of the series since part 1. Sadly, after playing the latest demo, I can say that the series just doesn\'t do it for me anymore... it\'s very unrealistic and the graphics are horrible - racing games nowdays should at least touch Gran Turismo\'s graphics. It doesn\'t. The framerate is choppy, the handling sucks period. What good is it to drive a Lamborghini if it handles just like all the other cars?

Bring on GT4 or WRC2 Extreme.

its all in the dev\'s hands, i dont blame the xbox or GC for thier shortcomings

the devs know where the best sales are, and will commit more resources there

like jiggs said, xbox and GC are afterthougts
they get the scraps (or whatever can be bought outright)

Yah, but you\'re still going to bring it up next time an XBoxer says that XBox ports are always superior :p

i think even the most adamant xbox zealot cannot deny that xbox gets sloppy ports from PS2 and PC titles

bad PS2 ports are the dev\'s laziness (spyhunter)
bad PC ports are inadequate hardware (morrowind)

yeah perhaps you\'re right. I was more disappointed by the gameplay then anything else. Damn, why can\'t they get back to what the series was like with part 1? Part 2 was horrible (except for them including my favorite car, the Esprit), part 3 was a bit better, 4 even a bit more and the new one (judging by the demo) must be the worsed NFS I\'ve ever played... :(

According to the reviews even the ps2 version suffers from slowdown quite regularly.

The Gamecube and Xbox versions were developed by EA, while Black Box took care of the one released on the PS2.  Two different companies, so it\'s no surprise to see that one version of the game is better than the others.
