How much time you spend playing games?
My record is 18 hours non stop playing (few years ago).Friend and I were trying to get all licences in Gran turismo 1.It took us about 10 hours then we decided to get all golds... so it went on and on...
-
Should be in discussion :)
13 hours
Final Fantasy 7. Played from when my brother left for work (the TV was in his room) to when he kicked me out of his room at night because he was trying to sleep.
And that\'s literally non-stop.
-
When I was younger I pretty much spent my spare time doing nothing else but playing on my Amiga.
Now I average about 2 or 3 hours a week, unless I have bought the latest fantastic release which makes my average increase to about 20 hours a week.
-
heh beginners.. 27 hours. FF7 it was, couldn\'t stop.
another was max payne, played it for around 16 hours.
Pepsi max rocks. Good gaming drink, keeps you goin and goin.
These days i\'m at my pc 8 hours a day. Don\'t get much console gaming in :(
-
Probably the longets I\'ve spent in one sitting was with Tony Hawk 3 when I first got it, and that was about 6 hours. Other than that, I average about 3 to 5 hours a week now.
-
About 14 hours a day for 6 days straight when I first got GTA3.That was one wasted vacation.
-
Around 30-40 hours with two games...
QFG - I decided to run thur the entire series back to back without breaks except to get munchies and take a leak.
PSO - Everytime I went to log off another friend would show up and wanna get a few lvls in and show me what he/she found or had duped for them. I spent so much time on the game I eventually jus said to hell with it and stayed up and online for almost 2 days streight.

Dec. 25th, 9:20 a.m. - Got Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Dec. 25th, 3:00 p.m. - Began playing Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Dec. 26th, 4:00 a.m. - I fell asleep in the middle of playing with the controller in my hands.
Dec. 26th, 8:00 a.m. - Realized I had fallen asleep, continued playing.
Dec. 27th, 3:00 a.m. - Took a break.
-
I used to play a lot more in the past... My record for a continious gaming session is still 25 hours, when I got FFVII. FFX kept me in front of the TV for a max of about 12 hours at a time. The biggest total time I\'ve spent with one game alone would be with FFVII; about 700-750 hours. FFX ate 200 hours... gee whiz.
I still play everyday, anywhere from 5 minutes (Tekken 4, SSX, Frequency) to several hours. Lately it\'s been more like 5-10 minutes a pop. I luv games, and I do believe I am a game\'o\'holic, couldn\'t live without \'em!

700 hours with FF7?
Man.. FF7 was good.. but that\'s a long time for an RPG!
-
amazed at some of these times
Mine is 6 hours with Skies of Arcadia. Which is alot considering I usually don\'t spend more than 2 hours a day max...
-
Ooo, SoA kept me up well over 10 hours at best too, damn I LOVED that game!
*hugs DC & SoA*
It was just SO awesome the first time through... now there\'s nothing more to see, or at least not enough to make me go back... but I\'ll always treasure it in my heart as one of the finest games ever.

700 hours with FF7?
Man.. FF7 was good.. but that\'s a long time for an RPG! - Blade
That\'s it? Pfft. 700 hours is nothing. On PSO I\'ve got over.. god.. lemmie add this up..
Tesla - Rougly 1,000 hours (Not sure cause of CK & Remakes)
Sinue - Rougly 800 hours (Not sure cause of Remakes)
Mana - Roughly 600 hours.
Elsa - 170 hours.
Pestilance - 120 hours
Sludge Vohaul & other various temp chars - Roughly 300 hours.
Total = Roughly 3,000 hours.
So yeah... 700 hours is a drop in the bucket. I\'m sure there\'s quite a few EQ players out there who would simply laugh at my pitiful 3k as well.
-
I had easily 120 hours on Ocarina of Time, and about 140 on Majora\'s Mask.
Best two [insert genre here] games ever made.
- SF note: Zelda is not an adventure game by any strech of the imagination. Roberta Williams would be spinning in her grave right now if she were dead.
-
 You seriously want to incur my wrath don\'t you Vapor?
-
While I agree it\'s not a true adventure SF, what genre would you classify it as?
It\'s certainly not RPG (or even Action RPG).
:)
-
There are some serious game o holics in here!
-
I don\'t know how I overlooked this in my first post in this thread, but when I was a serious Quake-a-holic, from the first through the third, I probably played online anywhere from 1 to 4 hours a night when I could. Mostly lithium DM and CTF and Rocket Arena during QII\'s prime years. That\'s when I was playing video games more than any other time. Whatever I was doing, I couldn\'t wait to get home and fire up gamespy.
:alien:
-
Zelda is like an Adventure/RPG. Action/RPG is how most publications would consider it.
-
Zelda is, IMO, a pretty unclassifyable genre. It has elements of several different Genres, but never really enough to classify it as a certain genre. It has very light RPG elements, very light Adventure elements, moderate Action elements, and light platformer elements.
Yet, how much does it really have in common with Monkey Island or Myst? How much does it have in common with Final Fantasy or Phantasy Star? How much does it have in common with Mario or Sonic? How much does it have in common with Apocalypse or MGS2?
There\'s several games out there like Zelda which defy classification. I prefer to simply call it "Zelda".
-
Well, just got back from playing the UT2k3 demo for about 7 hours. Wasted my Saturday night.
-
I once spent 3 days and some change straight, non-stop, playing Everquest... mini-thins and pepsi... lots of pepsi...
*shiver* ...glad I got that monkey off my back
-
I usual play a good bit.
-
How does Zelda not fit in the adventure genre? It is in fact, an adventure. It has none of the specific elements of an RPG and has too much depth to be an action game.
-
Boy, you have never played an actual adventure game. Monkey Island? Myst? ANd there is a lot more SonyFan could name ( don\'t get him started on Sierra). Adventure games are nothing like Zelda.
I personally throw Zelda into an action/rpg catergory, even though that\'s still incorrect.
-
The only elements that are similar is the sence of exploration and light (compaired to true adventures) storytelling. However the action and various other elements that comprise Zelda by far overshadow the adventure elements. Those elements are also found in most RPG\'s which, I think, is the reason why many people confuse those two genres also.
Where is the heavy emphesis on puzzle solving (expecially item based), item hunting, or dialouge puzzles?
Do me a favor.. get a copy of Space Quest 5, Monkey Island 2, and Myst. Play them through.. and then tell me just where you find the gameplay parallels between them and Zelda. To make it easier.. play QFG1 VGA since that\'s an Adventure/RPG which most people are claiming Zelda is. Tell me where the gameplay parallels between those two games are because I don\'t see them.
-
Ok. I\'m convinced. Don\'t bring me spending money into this.
;)
-
Actually, you don\'t have to spend any money to obtain these games.. expecially since you can\'t buy them anymore usually. There are other ways, but I\'ll stop here before I\'m forced to endorse something that\'s frouned upon on these boards. :)
-
Just as long as we all agree... Final Fantasy is an Adventure game..
-
adventure game?
-
.....
-
-
My total max is 48 hours STRAIGHT, caffennie was my best friend- this was when I first got my PS2 and about 3 games (DMC, AA2, and THPS3) plus a couple rented (cant remember them all)
Good fun- I still play like that on the weekends when I have nothing else to do.
-
I remember playing Urban Strike for the SNES for about 9 hours straight, thats the longest for me.
The reason for FF7 not being the longest is that I didnt want to burn the game out even though I still play it to this day...just started a new file a few days ago...
