How can you get a gun over there? What do you need? After watching many films in which you enter in a shop and buy a gun... is it really that easy? In Spain it\'s impossible to buy a gun (you need to have B license, and you only get it being police or something similar).
Any of you own a gun?
-
They sell the things at department stores. Its pretty easy. I dont think you need a license for something like a rifle. I would say you would need some kinda permit for a pistol.
You allowed guns in Australia as long as they arent semi automatic. We had the same gun laws as the US until there was a massacre in Tasmania, killing 30 people.
-
heh, sell guns in department stores.. Yeah. We have them right next to the children\'s shoes section.
Whatever...
There is a waiting period for guns of I think a week. That way you can\'t get all pissed off at your wife, go buy a gun, come home and off the bitch.
I don\'t think you need licenses or anything unless you plan on carrying the weapon. If it\'s just for shooting ranges and gun clubs and such I don\'t think you need much.
Of course you could always just go into the hood and buy one.
-
^^^Yup, I buy all my guns in back of liquor stores.
-
Guns are easy to get. There is a 5 day waiting period now, but a lot of Podunk stores don\'t even adhere to it.
I own several guns, I like to roll down the street poppin caps whenever I get the chance.
-
Gun laws in the UK are very strict, farmers have shotguns for hunting which require a licence. Normal police officers do not carry guns. The special armed police forces that we have only respond to extreme circumstances, and even then the have to request permission to use their weapon.
-
I only know one person to own a gun. And he\'s a paranoid mofo. Don\'t ask me how he got it.
-
So you go to the shop and ask for a revolver (example). You only have to wait 5 days (i guess it will be a checking period for costumer\'s profile) and then you go, pay and you get the gun... wow... that\'s really an easy way.
I knew about the police in UK... I think police should carry a gun, like the most part of polices in the world...
Thanx for the info.

Legally they have the background check for things like criminal record,if you\'ve been in a mental ward recently, have any unresolved domestic abuse charges. This only takes about 45 minuites though, the rest of the time is for the so-called cooling off period.
Illegally,if you were standing next to me right now and gave me 100 dollars,I could be back with a gun for you in less than two hours.I\'ts pretty sad huh.

Aww yeah. 40\'teys and 9\'s. My favorate shop. :D
Anyhow, it\'s pretty easy to get a gun over here. The five day waiting period is only if you buy them from a shop so that they can run a background check on you, and it\'s to keep convicted criminals from getting handguns. If you\'ve been to jail, you can no longer own a handgun. (Tho Rifles are still ok to own) I dunno about anywhere else.. but in Indiana you don\'t need any kind of permits, licences, or registration. You CAN get a handgun permit and register your weapon which will give you the ability to carry it in public and concealed.. but otherwise you pretty much gotta leave it at home or in the trunk of your car well out of arms reach.
Adan, if you came here you could buy my Colt .38 for $350 USD and that\'d be all there is to it. (Well, I\'m not QUITE sure since the laws regarding immagrants and handguns are probably different - expecially after 9/11.. but if you lived here it\'d be a different story.) You could also buy the parts and build your own gun from scratch.
I currently own a .38 Colt revolver, a 4-10 Savage Stevens Pump action Shotgun, a .20 Gauge single load Shotgun, and a .12 gauge sawed off double barrel shotgun my father made.

Well, in our constitution, one of the guaranteed rights was the right to own and bear arms. Because of that, not much is done to limit their availability.
-
Wow Sonyfan... thieves should be away with that power... Have you used them any time? I mean against any person in order to protect yourself.
Shockwaves i didn\'t know it\'s on constitution. Good point then.
-
Laws vary from state to state. In Texas you can carry a concealed weapon, in Florida you cannot.
-
dajo, then are there various constitutions or only one? If Shockwaves said it was written down in constitution... did he mean his state constitution?
-
No. The national constitution states that all citizens have the right to own and bear arms. Different states, however, have put different restrictions on this right, to prevent people from abusing it.
-
Yeah you can own a gun in every state but the laws on concealed carry vary from state to state.
You can carry a concealed gun in Florida, you just have to pass a class.I\'m not sure how long the class is but I\'m pretty sure you can finnish it in one day.
-
Ahm... I can understand. Thanx guys :)

Since when? I was checking some guns laws and it appears that you can carry in florida with a permit, just not in certain locations. Like school grounds, casino\'s..police stations..etc. Lemme see if I can dig up the link.
This isnt the one I saw before but it does state you can carry in FL with a permit

Yes you can carry a gun in your car with a permit as long as it doesn\'t have the clip in it and is secured in some sort of compartment.
In a vehicle they go by the three step rule.
This is taken from the link you gave.
It is lawful to possess a concealed firearm for self defense or other lawful purposes within the interior of a private conveyance, without a license, if the firearm is securely encased or is otherwise not readily accessible for immediate use. Nothing herein contained prohibits the carrying of a firearm other than a handgun anywhere in a private conveyance when such firearm is being carried for a lawful use. The exemption shall not authorize the carrying of a firearm concealed on the person.
It is against the law to carry a concealed weapon on you, in the state of Florida. With or without a permit. Unless you are govt. or police.
-
right but any average joe without a felony conviction can get a license to carry conceled. least that is what Im lead to believe from reading that stuff. Im going to call around and find out. Wouldnt mind carrying down here in this crazy place.
-
SonyFan - What do you know about Forties and Nines? I practiaclly grew up in that store.
Anyways as far as the constitution goes. It was originally supposed to be the "right to arm bears". One of the most popular forms of protection was attaching a musket to a bear and letting him maul and shoot your enemies. Unfortunately, Jefferson was a bit dyslexic and he messed up the wording. The other founding fathers didn\'t have the heart to him (Jefferson was really sensitive about his condition). That is why you don\'t see any more bears with guns attached to them.
^^A little fun fact.
-
Pretty easy if you buyin them in the streets..
-
Adan, do you think it\'s wrong that only your government can have guns? I don\'t own a gun and probably never will but I believe average law-abiding citizens should ALWAYS be allowed to buy one.
-
I do too and I love your avatar!
-
Just back from Spain. Been there for a week visiting my gf :)
Don\'t like that people can get hold of guns and such, the best/most responsible person ever can get crazy and do some wacked stuff. But I do think that pepper spray/mace should be allowed. For defense, for like women that get asulted by rapists or that kind of people. It won\'t kill them. But it is illegal here in Sweden :/
Since I just visited Spain I wonder:
How easy is it becoming an animal cruelty figure torturing animals to death in Spain?
Do I have to show my skills sticking and knifing a cat/dog to death or can I just show up at the arena with my knives and sword?
Do that in Sweden and you would face years in jail.
-
Adan - I\'ve used them plenty of times, but only on the shooting range or in my back yard. I can\'t carry my .38 on me yet since I don\'t have a licence to carry a concealed weapon. I don\'t think I\'m gonna bother getting it anyhow. My cousin carries his 9mm around with him everywhere for "protection", but I figure it\'d jus make situations worse.
-
I believe that guns shouldn\'t be so easily accessible to young kids...or people who are cracked out. In Arizona...you can own a gun when you\'re 16. Hell, I need to get a gun now just to protect myself from them! ;) Just kidding. But really...gun laws should be more restricted. Like obvious things like suspicious-looking people buying guns in large numbers. As long as you\'re old enough...you can do whatever the hell you want.
I dunno...I might get a gun myself in the future...but I won\'t be swinging it around for the world to see screaming "Look at my shiny new gun!"

ALot of gun laws are already rediculous as it is, we dont need more. We just need better enforcement of the laws already in existence(sp?)
What does "suspicious" constitute as? Anybody could be considered that to be honest. I dont see the problem with buying a large number of guns, some ppl are collectors. NOw 50 glock19\'s by a person other than a dealer is another story :D

Saw some bullfighting arenas and had the urge to blow them to bits. Do that shit in Sweden and you would face years in jail.
Bjorn, you are touching the most problematic point in Spain with respect to visitors and tourists. Bullfighting is a very ancient tradition (notice that there were bullfighters before America was discovered by Colon) and society keep it as a treasure. I hate these things, I hate bullfightings, and many people do. But, for now, it\'s impossible to erase. I can\'t do anything but tell i\'m not with that people who enjoy watching died bulls.
SonyFan I think that\'s a good and correct use, carrying and using it outdoors may make the things worse.
THX, I agree with my government in that only police, special forces and qualified persons can only carry a gun. I must admit i like guns, but for me it\'s impossible to get one legally.

I guess the problem that I would have with that, and the reason that our constitution allows so many people to own a gun, is what if that government began to abuse its power? If only the government can own guns, and they became a cruel or abusive government, the people would have no way of fighting back, and would be at that government\'s mercy.

America was discovered by a colon?

damn, you beat me to that one...
I own many guns, and I never had to wait more than a day to get them. I bought two AK-47\'s at a gun show and paid cash, walked right out... I had to wait a day to buy my AR-15, but that was from a legitimate shop. At one gun show, I bought an SKS w/ a folding stock, flash suppressor, aftermarket 30-round mags AND AMMO from the same guy and paid cash. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes and cost me $250.
*sniff....
I love teh USA. ;)

Spanish for Columbus.

I don\'t think we should have any more laws against guns. I agree with Luckee. I think there should be more enforcement with the law and stuff even though that won\'t happen. Most cops anymore (in certain areas) are just as damn twisted as the person tryin to shoot your ass.
-
Note: Leif Eriksson was first, Columbus was second ;)

They are even discussing that maybe Columbus was aware and had maps from the Viking voyages.
And I agree with Adan.. Only the police should be allowed to carry guns. And I agree with Björn, we should allow pepparspray.
We dont need school shootings every week thank-you-very-much ;)
-
If criminals cant get guns then they will just use knives, taking away guns is not going to make a big difference except for kids playing with them. And you can prevent that by using saftey locks.
-
Outlawing guns wont work either. Most criminals dont purchase guns via a legal medium anyway :)
