Title: Camera mounted on the shuttle
Post by: videoholic on September 29, 2002, 08:18:38 AM
They are mounting a camera to the external fuel tank this next launch.  They are mounting it so it is looking back towards the shuttle and the ground.

Holy shit this is going to be cool.  You will see the eart going away in the distance.  You may even see the shuttle speeding away on seperation if the tank gets seperated perfectly.

This is cool as hell.  I wonder if they will broadcast it live with the launch or if they are just recording it to playback once they recover the tank.

Since everyone was so excited about this I figure I\'d bump it back up with a pic.

We have a local channel here which is just space stuff. I believe it is all real time, and I actually watch it every once and a while. Its really cool to watch it at night and imagine where it is  , at least my little brother gets a kick out of it.

You know you can watch it fly over with your naked eye if you want to.  I don\'t know about in your neck of the woods, but you can easily see it fly over in FL just before sunrise.

Here is a link to the video from Nasa\'s website.

They cut away from it right before the side tanks blow off.  Bummer.
