Title: Any of you enjoy photography?
Post by: videoholic on September 29, 2002, 06:51:28 PM
Any of you take nice pics?  Enjoy stills?  Thought it would be fun to show your work.  Most of mine are of my kid and you\'ve already seen some.  Kids are tough to shoot though.  I haven\'t had a camera for very long though.

I\'ve been shooting video for years and years, but stills are so much more fun.  I guess it\'s because you have to really be instinctive and have to plan your shots.  You don\'t get 30 frames per second.  You have an instant to try and get that perfect shot.

Any of you have any pics?

I work in a photo lab. I print photos, do the chemisty etc.

I see lotsa interesting things... I have a Cannon 300 SLR 28mm-80mm zoom lens, heaps of filters. My favourite is my 6 point star filter, use it heaps.

I\'ll have to post some.

I\'m probably going to be taking a photography class next semester, heard the class is easy.. so what the hey.

Racer, you worked at one of those 1 hour photo places? I\'ve always wanted to work at one.. My friend used too.. He says he sees the nasty home pictures of couples very often.

A good thread idea, sir.  Thanks!

I have been a still photography freak for as long as I can remember, and I have an interesting camera collection.  My main workhorse is a Canon Elan IIE (known as the Canon EOS 50E or EOS 55 elsewhere in the world) (http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/camera/1992-1996/data/1995_eos55.html).  I have a few EOS lenses and some other hardware for it.

I\'ve always been drawn toward Canon products, since my first 35mm camera, which was a Canonet GIII QL17 (http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/camera/1970-1975/data/1972_netg3-17.html)  That camera is so incredibly durable and dependable, I still use it occasionally.  I bought a couple more of them, and a friend and I build a stereo photo rig that utilizes two QL17s side by side.  It\'s kind of awkward, but it works great.

I also love historic Polaroid equipment.  I have this really cool leather bound SX70 folding camera that always impresses the uninitiated.

I have to scan some current photos soon, so I\'ll dig out a few old images and post them here if I get the chance.

I have a Nikon f100 with quite a few filters.  I have a star fileter as well.  I have numerous soft filters and some nice ones to add some color.

I have a 4 point star that I used here out of my hotel room in the Bellagio.  It\'s a pretty crappy scan, but I don\'t want this thread to become huge so I compressed the hell out of it.

Now I see why you were interested in one hour photo Racer.....

I myself, Am not really all that into photography. I do shoot pictures every once and a while for a local skate shop.

I do tons of video for a skate video me and my friends are making. I spend hours editing, and stuff like that. I really like it.

My sister is a profesional photographer, and has like a 4 thousand dollar analog camera, and is getting a new 5 grand digital camera.  She does some amazing work, but I personally have never done anything with photography other than taking some "Artistic" shots of Samwise

Stamp tool in photoshop is genious.  Actually in Photoshop 7 there is a new tool called bandaid that is sweet.  Although I used Stamp on that.

Here is another example.  The guy was painting this street scene.  Well he didn\'t paint the power lines, the street sign, and some other stuff.  So I took them all out of my shot.  I also masked him and his painting out and then made the actual photo look like a painting.  It looks better blown up, but here ya go.

You\'d have to see it blown up.  It\'s about 1/100th the actual rez.  It was just something I was playing with.

Anyone else going to post some pics?  Good pics that is....
