Title: Car Damage...
Post by: Majin Prince on October 06, 2002, 06:00:45 PM
Today after work i walked to my car and a friend of mine asked me, what happened to my car? then i looked over at my car and was shocked beacuse there was this huge dent on the bottom side of my car.:rpissed:  (rocker panel)

Can anybody tell me a estimate of how much you think the repair is gonna cost me? i\'m thinking its gonna be a lot since the rocker panel is part of the body frame...but i hope i\'m wrong.  :( i\'m relived the damage wasnt on the door, but my whole side rocker panel is screwed.

Thanks

Dude, it really depends on the type of car as well. If its just a dent, then it shouldnt be too hard, just go to a panel beater.

If theres paint gone, chunks hanging off etc, then it completely varies.

I bet you would like to get your hands on the asshole that did it.

yeah you\'re right! If i ever find out who did this to my car i\'m gonna kick their ass. I pretty much narrowed it down to three people, but i\'m not a 100% sure, so i\'m not going to confront them.

I have no idea how much its gonna cost me to repair a freaking rocker panel, so tomorrow i\'m going to head to my dealership and get a estimate on it. BTW i have a 2002 Acura Rsx-type S thats barely four months old. So its pretty obvious the person who screwed my car up was a hater.:(

No, the paint is still there. Its just a huge dent in the middle of the panel. The dent is going inward like someone hit the bottom of my panel really hard with something swinging upward....its hard to explain, if i had a digital camera i would post the pic.

Did he kick it?  From what it sounds like he kicked your car....

Thats what i thought at first, but i cant imagine someone kicking a car and causing the metal to be bent.

You would be suprised how little it takes to dent a car. I had a dent in the top rail of my last S-10 pickup bed from when a friend jumped into it, and hit it with his knee...

Dude, you could dent a car very very easily kicking it.  Especially if you had steel toed boots.

No matter how hard a person kicks i cant see anybody actually denting the rocker panel so badly. I can see it being rather easy to dent any other part of the car by kicking with your foot but its impossible to dent a side rocker panel so much it screws up the whole side body frame with just your foot.

The only logical explanation my friend, the "helpful" police, and I were able to come up with was either; someone hit it with a solid object (baseball bat, metal bar, etc) or my car ran over a curb. I can see how it makes sense that a curb did this damage but i\'m the only one who drives my car and i\'m pretty sure i didnt slam onto a curb without noticing.

I dont have a digital camera...but if one of my friends have one i\'ll post em.

No one has driven my car except my parents...and that was the day before this incident. But i know my parents would have told me if they messed up my car.

Sorry to hear about that but if the dent is about 2 feet long, I would say the cost would be about $250 with paint.  That dent has to be pull-out then bondo and painted.

Are you sure your parents didn\'t do it on accident? Maybe they didn\'t even notice? To be honest - that seems like a very , very possible way of this happening. I\'d simply confront my parents, ask them if something happened ,where they took the car and what not.

Thanks, i hope it only costs around $250 and is able to be pulled out by one of those dent removal kits that body shops use. But one of my friends said it can cost all the way up to $1,850...due to a new rocker panel and then welding it, then painting it. I sure hope he\'s wrong.

Well i\'m pretty positive my parents didnt do this b/c i didnt notice anything wrong with my car the day before. Its a pretty obvious dent when youre anywhere near the car. But i\'ll ask them anyway.:D
