just got this game the other day (had to work a couple of 16 hour shifts in between then and gettin to play it)
Anyway, this game started out slow, but it is scary a hell so far. The insanity effects really mess with me sometimes. I am a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, and this is very much like one of his works, in a more contemparary medium. This game deffinatly gives Silent Hill a run in the scary departmen, though they are fairly different in gameplay. The graphics aren\'t spectacular, but they do a fairly good job (I think the lighting needs serious help, also some jaggy issues). But this isn\'t about eye-candy, its about scary ass mutated brain lemons (ya know, cuz lemons are sour... kinda of like the opposite of candy, -k- fine stupid analogy),
So has anyone else tried this one yet, what did you think?

hmmm this is a close second to Mario Sunshine for my most wanted on the Gamecube i could buy them both BUT i am busy saving for my wedding.
damn if it wasn\'t for the fact that both Timesplitters 2 and GTA:VC are due out for the PS2 pritty soon, then i would have enough money to buy both Mario Sunshine & Eternal Darkness :(

Ugh. I hated it. Infact, I rank it one of the most dissapointing games this year...
Each to his own though.

ED = alright.
A little disappointing like LiC said (I thought it would be longer and harder) but while it lasts, it\'s high-quality.

I thought the game was very good. It wasn\'t perfect but very enjoyable and fun. Argueably it could have been more. I would have like to have seen more variety in enemies and some more environments. Perhaps harder puzzles? It isn\'t Zelda but I don\'t think they wanted to be like that.
Funny you say lighting and jaggies are its weak points because I thought they were the strong points!
I think it\'s definetly worth looking at especially if you\'re not expecting much from this game. Some may be enthralled by it while others might appreciate its strong points but not be terribly drawn by it.

I found the insanity effects to be nothing but mere gimmicks that added nothing to the gameplay. As for the combat system - it was broken. Character design was cliche\' and uninspired and finally, the story was weak.
All in all, I really do hate the game . Normally, I would just dislike the game, but the very fact that I looked forward to ED for so long and it turned out like it did, brought me to a certain level of hate ....
:mad:

Really, I rented it... and i got annoyed at having to track down everyone to talk to. So it gets better?

You missed the point of it. The first bit you must get to know everyone, get use to them,etc. Run errans for them and then after Nook lays you off from your job, you\'re a free man who goes around picking the jobs you want to do.
Great game.
