It seems that ADSL will arrive in November to my tiny village. I thought it would never happen, but it is. My question is the next:
I read some time ago in a magazine that ADSL servers may not be far than 6 kms from your PC. I guess our server will be in a nearby town called Linares, much bigger than my village. It\'s 16 kms far way away from here... so I believe problem will appear with that lenght.
Do you think my connection will be seriously affected if I connect with that ADSL server?

Well.... it doesn\'t work quite like that. I believe the length of the cable from your house to the central can\'t be more than 5-6 km\'s. But either it works or it doesn\'t. So it\'s not like you can\'t get a \'bad line\' AFAIK. And when you say you will be able to get it in your city, the central should be near-by (otherwise it wouldn\'t be possible).
Hope that made a little sense...

Samwise, do you mean that it is impossible to wire an ADSL cable of more than 4-5 kms? It\'s really true that a cable from Linares to my village would be an huge project, but considering that in my town there will be only 4 or 5 subscriptors... do you think they will install a Central in my town?

Adan, i\'ll give u a simple answer:-
if yer isp is gonna bring dsl to yer town then u should not experience any problems (this is not a gurantee) , coz if there are problems then why should yer spend the money to set it up in the first place.
and one more thing wether they install the "central" in yer town or not, is not gonna matter as long as u r accessing the internet at high speeds.
:)

Adan, by central I mean a phone company. ADSL runs on the phone cables, so they have to setup some equipment in their facilities. If it\'s a small town I wouldn\'t worry too much.

Well, that\'s quite fine... at least it seems that there won\'t be big problems accesing through ADSL in my house.
Thanx for the info guys, I hope I be replying with broadband very soon ;)
