I just got off the phone with my local Software Etc. (Gamestop, Funcoland, Babbages) and they relayed some awesome news. It turns out that they\'re offering a rebate for the next month on the next generation systems. You do have to buy some goods with them, but it seems like a good deal.
If you buy a new PS2 with 2 new games ($49.99) and 1 accessory ($19.99 & up) then you get a rebate for $50 in the mail. Same thing applies to the new Xbox bundle and the GameCube. Of course the GameCube is reduced to $99 after the rebate. This offer should last for about a month. Since most gamers out there pick up an extra controller or memory card and a couple games when they buy new machines, this might be the place to do your shopping. Not a bad idea for those parents shopping for Christmas. As of this time the online site Gamestop.com does not offer this special rebate offer.
