Impressive!

:facelick: Yummy ! Still a bit of a bummer, the PS2 doesn\'t have hardware bumpmapping. Imagine those environments with it. :nut:
-
WOW!!!:eek:Thats detail.I cant wait to get my hands on it.

That doesn\'t mean they couldn\'t program it in software.
Besides, in a way, I\'m glad it doesn\'t. Some games out there, IMO, use bumpmapping way too much.
But anyway, those screens are looking a lot better than the previous ones released.

Is there a PS2 game with bumpmupping?
-
/me shurgs
I dunno.
But they should be able to do it in software, I would think, if the developers really wanted it...
If I\'m wrong on this, someone correct me. ;)

Jason Rubin said Naughty dogs J & D engine can do bump-mapping,but you\'ll have to wait until the end of next year to see it.
-
I wish they would put in some scary monsters, those look boring :p
-
DMC2 looks tight.

Anyone who uses the vector units to perform pixel shader effects (reflective/refractive bump-mapping,etc.) is just wasting his time...performance would be unacceptably bad. Per-pixel effects belong on the processor that is responsible for handling pixels - this is where the PS2 fails most miserably...
PS2 is truly flawed in texturing capabilities...and it\'s due to the lack of hardware compression and the 1.2 G/s bus through wich you stream textures plus the lack of other several features via hardware...PS2 is a "raw" piece of hardware and my opinion is that Sony conceived it really in a stupid way...
However, back to the topic, the graphics are good for a PS2 game...
...but really dated for current graphics-standard=XBox :)
...after watching Halo2,Doom3,Fable...DMC look like a N64 game...more or less...but we know...PS2 is already a 3 years old machine...

Game looks great.
Biozee is an idiot.
Game looks great.
Repeat those things all night.

the temple stage in tekken tag tournament already had bump mapping (I believe), so it definitely is possible,
and btw bizioEE, you suck

Yes, it\'s. But remember that a 2 years old machine won the war against N64, and some time before, against Saturn. And some time later, against DC (DC began to dye when PSOne sold more units than itself). Now, PS2, a very old machine compared to XBOX and GC can win this war. It\'s doing right now indeed. If graphics would mean anything, PS2 would haven\'t sold any system after Xbox releasing in USA. But it sells lots of them. Graphics are only another point in a game universe. You can have bad graphics, but great gameplay. You can have bad graphics but a nice storyline, etc... do you remember GTAII? It was not a graphic freaky right?
I have not seen any GC or XBOX game with the gameplay of DMC and its amusing combat system. Perhaps people buy it due to those features and not because it\'s a light effect here and a thousand poligons in this wall...

This game is looking very good, and with Capcom\'s new policy on putting in a 60hz mode for the PAL version, things can only get better.
-
And I love Capcom for that... literally :shy:

Don\'t you find it funny how we went from "this game is going to rock" to "the PS2 is an outdated piece of sh1t that looks like a n64", BizioEE? Strange. I wonder how that happened ;)

Currently, I don\'t know of any game myself, but there\'s no doubt that you can do it. Jason Rubin did say that the Jak & Daxter engine does support it, so here\'s hope of them using it in their next game. If there\'s one thing the PS2\'s good at, then it\'s suprising stupid little wannabes like BizioEE that a 2 year older system can still compete very well with newer ones.
*points to Silent Hill 3, WRC2 etc
Unfortunately, not all developers seem to be that motivated.

I believe the snow stage in TTT has it too.
-
wow!!!!!! cant wait for this
-
I heard that TTT did not have bump mapping, but that the grounds were done completely with polygons and not with lighting tricks. So, to this day, there is no PS2 game that does bump mapping.
I tell you what though, DMC to this day is still one of the best looking games ever IMO. People will say that it had poor textures and some low polygonal characters, but this does not take away from the beauty that is DMC. Games like ICO and DMC show that even with a technically inferior console, if you have good artists, your game can be superior graphically. (Even without bumpmapping!!! *gasp*)
Artistic >> Technical
Just so no one jumps on me, I\'m not saying that Doom 3, Fable, don\'t look great, because they do.
-
I hope the gameplay is as tight as DMC1\'s ..
But the graphics are nothing to get excited about, not when compared to other new games, for example SH3 :)

Well if the game runs at constant 60 fps with the detail shown above then I guess yes the there is a reason to be excited about the graphics.Unless compared with SH3 as u said.Which has so much detail you can see muscles on their face moving even on their forhead when the characters speak or show emotions(I think its got the best facial expressions ever created in a game).
Even the old mans shirt. You can tell by the picture the shirt\'s colar needs some ironing.

 OMFG Fastson, that is awesome. I thought it was a real-life picture at first. Amazing.
On the DMC2 note: it looks like a lot of the same monster-splattering, zombie-crushing, high-jumping-gun-blasting-action...... YAY!
