I finally broke down, and purchased a Xbox bundle pack today. To my dismay when I brought it home. It does not work. The sound works, but no picture. I tried another cable so that is not it.
This is the first console I have ever purchased that has refused to work. I suppose it will be another out of the way trip to change it out. I am wondering if the bundle has refurb hardware or somthing.

I would assume you haven\'t done anything stupid like opening up the case and trying to fix it yourself or burning the reciept. Just take it back to the store you purchased it from and exchange it. These things happen.
-
Nope. It is all still in tact, and ready to go back. Atleast my Beavis and Butthead dvd\'s come in today from good ole ebay.
-
Well its not that uncommon to have a few defective units here and there.
-
indeed, it happens to them all

When I bought my PS2 the frickin\' disk tray wouldn\'t open!
Well, after a few friendly jabs with the flat head screwdriver, I decided to take it back and exchange it. :)
Just thought I\'d share that nugget of information with everyone :)
-
Indeed , indeed. I also remember you havin\' a certain disc read error problem with Gran Tursimo 3 ...Heh.;)
Still, I\'m surprised you broke down and bought it. What games did ya\' get?
-
pS2 tray broken on me a couple of times. No xbox problems yet. Although my cousin broke his some how. The tray would not open.
I tried to jimmy it open with a screwdriver, hammer, butter knife. Just couldn\'t get the darn thing open.

I don\'t think Microsoft will resort to selling refurbished consoles (yet!). Just a bit of bad luck I suppose, could happen to anyone.
-
Sega and Nintendo still make the best hardware...
Excluding the original NES, of course...
Pop up CD trays are the way to go...
-
ehhe, guess thats why sega changed the design of the segaCD

Have you tried putting your Xbox in the freezer?
...although rumour goes around that one of our members had less luck using this method, it might very well solve yours...

What?It was just a joke?Cause it worked for me.:D

No freezer here. :D I took it back, and got a new unit today. It works as well as I expected.
LIC yeah I remember the Gran Turismo thing. Luckily I did not have to resort to any lows. I blame that whole incident on the Rocky Horror picture show anyhow. I am a bit skiddish about putting it in anything other than my dvd player.
Anyways it was the bundle pack so it came with Sega GT, and Jet Grind Radio. I figured for 200 it was not a bad deal. I am a bit dissapointed that 2 games come on one dvd that resembles more of a demo dvd. It has movies of shenmue2, Panzer Dragoon, Transworld Snow, Mech Assault, Buffy, and Blinx.
Quick question for everyone. Is there a game that is not a multi-port, button masher, Halo, or Munch game worth having?????????? I sort of bought it to finish up my next gen console collection, and now that my 2 free games are on a demo cd type thing. I would like to add atleast one more that is moderatly cool.
-
Sucker.
Buy Munch or borrow mine.
:D
Did you return it or get it workin\'?
-
I took it back, and got a new unit today.
:p

Capcom,
Quantum Redshift and Project Gotham Racing come to mind.
Don\'t take MSR as your impressions of PGR. While the two have the same arcade type play, PGR is much more friendly.
Other than those, you\'ll have to wait it out like the rest of us...sigh. Bah, gives me more time for my cube and PS2;)

get Capcom vs. SNK 2 for XBox when it comes out. If you are man enough to play it online and get your butt kicked with the rest of the forum...and world*.

*Note- I hardly ever play CvS2, yet most of your knowledge about fighting games is so laughable, I should beat you with ease.
-
*points and laugh\'s @ Eric\'s ego*
Btw: Where Capcom and I live, there isn\'t broadband, so MS kind of screwed us. We can\'t go online, even if we wanted. That\'s a whole other debate though.
;)

ehh, when you play a game series (or sets of them) as long as I have, you start to get a little cocky. Omaha is known for it\'s Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike skills nationwide. Soon, our CvS2 skills will become noticed. Too bad the game became slighty broken with roll cancelling. Now all Capcom needs to do is put 3rd Strike online and SNK needs to get Garou: MoW online. I have literally put thousands of hours into 3rd Strike and would love to see how my skills fare on a national level.

I think I am going to wait until Splinter Cell comes out. I started playing JSRF, and am somewhat enjoying it. Sega GT 2002 is not my cup of tea. I really dislike the damage factor in this game.

I got a problem with my ps2 and since this thread is basically about problems with systems ill share my problem.
My ps2 has seemed to have broken. It has ceased (sp?) to work with certain games. Mostly the new ones. TS2, RF2, Madden 03, ect. Ive tried cleaning the leanse with one of those special discs but nothing heppend. This happend once before and I sent it out to get fixed. Now should I send it out to get fixed and and be missing it for a few weeks for 150$ (same as 1st time) or sell the broken one for a little bit of cash and buy a brand new one that would probally work better for 200$?

Go to gamefaqs and find the PS2 hardware cleaning section. Those disks really don\'t clean the PS2\'s very well.
