Nintendo Rolls Out The Platinum Carpet To Celebrate New Platinum Nintendo GameCube
HOLLYWOOD--Oct. 24, 2002--Nintendo America Inc. has gone platinum, hosting a "platinum-level" Hollywood bash to introduce top celebrities to its wide-ranging holiday video game line-up and new limited-edition platinum Nintendo GameCube(TM) system.
Last night, stars streamed down the platinum carpet at the Hollywood & Highland gala to play more than 30 of the most highly anticipated video games from Nintendo, and watch a private concert by The Strokes. Celebrities in attendance included:
-- Christina Aguilera
-- Matthew Perry
-- Alicia Silverstone
-- Kelly Osbourne
-- Leonardo DiCaprio
-- Colin Farrell
-- Mark McGrath
-- Zach Braff
Nintendo\'s platinum party provided all the perks: packed house of more than 600 attendees, top DJ\'s, a special musical performance by The Strokes, and this holiday\'s additions to its more than 180 video game library for the Nintendo GameCube, including the highly anticipated Metroid(R) Prime (launching November 18 from Nintendo), Capcom\'s Resident Evil(R)0 and James Bond 007(TM): Nightfire(TM), and Madden NFL(TM) 2003 from EA. The extravaganza kicks-off the nationwide Nintendo Cube Club Tour, hitting 15 cities across the country over the next two months, allowing consumers to sample the latest games and products coming this holiday season in a cool nightclub atmosphere.
"The Nintendo GameCube has received such an overwhelming response from the entertainment community that we wanted to do something special to show our appreciation," says Perrin Kaplan, vice president, corporate affairs, Nintendo of America Inc. "What better way to celebrate than by going platinum with the Nintendo GameCube in Tinseltown?"
"I\'ve got a purple GameCube at home but I am dying for the new platinum GameCube," says Christina Aguilera. "My sister and I have Mario Party battles and I can\'t wait for more Mario."
The limited-edition platinum Nintendo GameCube system will have its moment in the spotlight on November 3 when it hits retailers with manufacturer\'s suggested retail price of $149.95, featuring a controller of the same sheen. Back by popular demand, the dazzling platinum Game Boy(R) Advance will share the stage in its limited re-release on November 3 as well, with an MSRP of $79.95.
As the worldwide leader and innovator in the creation of interactive entertainment, Nintendo Co. Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, manufactures and markets hardware and software for its popular home video game systems. The systems include Game Boy(R), Nintendo(R) 64, Game Boy Advance and NINTENDO GAMECUBE(TM). Since the release of its first home video game system in 1983, Nintendo has sold more than 1.6 billion video games worldwide, creating enduring industry icons such as Mario(TM) and Donkey Kong(R) and launching such franchises as Zelda(TM) and Pokemon(R). As a wholly owned subsidiary, Nintendo of America Inc., based in Redmond, Wash., serves as headquarters for Nintendo\'s operations in the Western Hemisphere.

I\'m not a big fan of her music, but I share Christina\'s taste in games. Mario Party 4 = awesome with friends!

I love her!!
Maybe I should have waited for a platinum cube...but then that would have looked funny next to my black PS2 and Xbox and completely thrown off the color scheme in my room...oh the drama!!
-
heh, she got a boob job done and nipple rings..... there are pictures too!:D......
whats this thread about again?...... gamecube?......meh

I had a choice at launch, and I got the Indigo. (read: Yes, that "gay purple" one!)
If I had to make a second choice, I\'d pick the Jet Black one. Like ya said, Ginko.. the Platinum is nice, but it wouldn\'t work with my black Xbox/DVD/VCR/TV/etc.

I\'m not impressed... not horrid looking but not really all that appealing. Still has that "overly plastic" look.
The new GC looks alright tho.. would go great next to my Dreamcast. Ah well, it won\'t make it out here in time to meet my paycheck. (T-minus 22 hours and counting..) I\'ve already decided to get the purple one.. yeah that\'s right. ***** ya\'ll.. Purple is a cool color. Sides.. my GBA is purple and I gotta have my setup all the same color.
(Hides, his White, Blue, and Purple DC controllers with the White, Red, Green, Blue, and Black VMU\'s sticking out of them.)

It would look better white. All consoles look better white..
By the way - she\'s yummy.

"Look mommy, Christina\'s got a new purse!"
-
Looks great, the gamecube is not bad either.

Whoops! I left my chewing gum in her belly button. Yeah, flesh tone chewing gum. Seriously!

i dont think it looks all that good in platinum... i dunno something about when plastic is made to look shiny, like metal, makes me think cheap.... i think its quite sad to do a limited edition colour, as if someones who already owns one is gonna buy a new one just cos its a different colour........ i can understand it if they just released it like that, then you could choos a platinum one..... but personally i dont like how it looks

Seriously. What happened to the belly button? It looks like it should be there....but it\'s just a slight depression on her belly. Is she Eve? PARASITE EVE?
