I think I posted this news over a year ago.. heard about it on the radio. Most people here didn\'t seem to care.. except Samwise.. he was pretty interested in obtaining some celestial territory.

Then again.. he probably just wanted to be able to go up to strangers on the street and yell at them - "I OWN URANUS!!!"

Unfortunately, a long time ago, the world\'s nations agreed that no nation could posses or claim ownership of the heavenly bodies.  Now, since then, people tried to say that they could claim moons, planets, or stars, however, no government on the planet will recognize those claims, so in effect, you can buy a piece of paper that says you own the moon... but it\'s only by some persons\'s claim or some corporation\'s claim that they owned it at all, which means that there is no legal framework for you to do anything with or about your land... you don\'t have the rights or abilities of an actual land owner.  

The treaty didn\'t address smaller heavenly objects, like meteors or comets, however, I think that they will probably extend the rights to cover those.  The only possible exception I can see happening (and not in the near future), is "fair use" rights for large corporations or governments that will eventually want to mine or build on celestial objects.
