I bought this film on Thursday, and i saw it this afternoon. The movie is awesome guys. Who the hell said in the forums that it was very unreal? It may be, but the history, the action, the special effects and the cast is absolutely great. Some of the special effects are the best i\'ve seen in years: the fallen of the helicopter is to remember.
I like the war movies, even the old ones. Since Saving Private Ryan, the war movies are not the same. The special effects are the most important part of these movies, and Black Hawk is worth the money in that point.
What do you think of this movie? Tonite i\'ll watch Ocean\'s Eleven... if it\'s half the quality BH is, it will have been also worth the money.

Good movie, I thought. I\'m a fan of Ridley Scott, and another one of his best films was just released on DVD. It\'s called The Duellists. BTW, the film you saw is called Black Hawk Down in the US. http://us.imdb.com/Title?0265086

Im sure you are aware of this since you like war movies, but check Full Metal Jacket out if you havent. Its GREAT!! I was actually suprised to see how many havent actually seen it.
As for topic, yes BHD is a good movie, I dont know how ppl could have bad mouthed it.
-
i like BHD a lot. and full metal jacket. The complaints iv seen(that were stupid IMO) were people saying it was racist against the somolians and also that there was no detail in the movie. Well, for the people that see it as racist, its war and we kicked their ass(with the exception of 12 of our soldiers), welcome to life. for the no detail, the movie wouldve been about 4 hours long if they did every bit of detail.
-
No detail? what kinda detail they need to call a movie detailed? May be that you can smell the fire of the guns... stupid IMO. The movie is great, as well as Full Metal Jacket, i love these.
Never heard about that film Cored ;)
-
Apocolypse Now and Full Metal Jacket are my two favorites. I still need to see BHD. Waiting on my sub, then I\'ll rent it. WOOOh.
-
Video, don\'t miss it, if you like war movies... you will be happy with this title.
-
I like war movies, maybe I will get it.
-
Also We Were Soldiers has some pretty nifty fight sequences. And of course, it stars MEL GIBSON. MEL I WUB J00! That didn\'t sound gay, did it?
Adan, The Duellists was Ridley Scott\'s first movie I believe. I\'m also a great fan of his like Coredweller*. :)
*Doesn\'t your sig spell "Coredweler"? :)

Yes it has some very nice special effects.
But I did not like it, its a very patriotic movie (and I hate that) .. It does not represent what actually happened.
Where in the movie did the GI\'s panic and fire into a crowd full of women and children? The black people are made so they look like zombies on their way to kill the heroes.
Its a glorified version of the truth.
If you want a good war movie get FMJ or The Platoon.
We Were Soldiers is laughable.. Don’t watch it :) (I was shocked when I heard the Braveheart director made it)
-
I liked we were soldiers, although the music with bagpipes sucked.Sorry Scotties but bagpipes are shit. IMHO
-
Oh god, the worst movie mentioned here without a doubt is We Were Soldiers... it was partially filmed here at Fort Benning so there were a ton a Mel Gibson sightings (that should get Samwise worked up). The problem I had with the movie was the suicide charge up the hill at the end with the helicopter saving the day. I swear I saw BA from the A Team manning the M60 and I saw a couple of NVA jeeps doing barrel rolls... really lame.
Anyway Blackhawk Down is a great movie. The Rangers are based here at Benning too, and they interviewed a ton of them and ran it in the local paper when the book came out not long ago. Its funny how people hardly remember when that happened and how the Somalis dragged our soldiers bodies through the streets...
-
I though We Were Soldiers was great. It showed so many sides to Vietnam.
And the part when the friendly fire took place.....

The sig looks different depending on what fonts you have installed on your PC. I\'ve viewed it on other pcs and it didn\'t always look correct. On my PC it has a greek character in that position with two upright columns, sort of like a U. To me it looks like to lowercase Ls. oh well... more than you wanted to know... :o

This is what it looks like on my PC:

Then you\'ve some problem with that font Sam ;p
Fast, do you really think they are like zombies? If you see the news, the hunger people runs and walk like them. I think there is not problem.
And, btw, what the hell the soldiers say when agree? WHOA or something like that, right?
-
you must see platoon, very good.... full metal jacket is simple awesome!!!! i wanna see the Apocolypse Now with all the uncut bits in, thugh would make it even longer!!! simple excellent film

All this crap above is patriotic american hollywood movies that came out less then a year ago. If u want good war movies, watch Stalingrad. The story is about the germans (no, not the americans) attack on Stalingrad, no patriotic crap, it shows how a war actually is. Other good war movies is ofcourse FMJ, Platoon, Das Boot, SPR. We were Soliders, Windtalkers etc is not good movies. Its a piece of crap showing lot of action scenes and thats it. Going to buy Band of Brothers when it will be released on DVD, heard lot of good stuff about it.
-
BlackHawk Down had nothing to do with Patriotism. It was a UN mission!!!!!!! We were soldiers was not overly patriotic in my opinion either. It showed the viewpoint of the North Vietnamese as well. If you read the book (or even watched the movie) the battle was not a victory or a defeat for either side. It was the first major encounter in the Vietnam War between US troops and the NVA.
Das Boot was good, but Stalingrad wasn\'t nearly as good and I am huge WW2 fanatic.

I agree with you.
Iron Cross is also a pretty good war movie. I like movies that show the perspective of the Germans or Russians.
-
see salvador... not a war film assuch, but set in the backdrop of one....
-
Iron Cross needs to be remade in my opinion. New special effects and a better light source would do wonders for that movie. Its a great story, but the acting and the technology at the time it was made leave a lot to be desired.
