Such a big forum, yet no mention of Emmit becoming the new All Time Rusher today. I know the Cowboys suck, but recognize a great achievement when you see one. I watched the game today and he fought hard for every yard, we should all be proud of him. If anyone disserved the record it\'s him. To top things off he got his 150th touchdown of his career which puts him on top of rushing touchdowns.
For someone who has grown up on Cowboys football this is a really special thing for me. Anyways, just thought I\'d share the excitement.
P.S. Barry Sanders is a sorry sap for quitting when he could of had the record.
-
Too bad the cowboys lost huh...
-
Emmit Blows! That\'s why no one created a thread for him. He was an above average player with a superb supporting cast.
-
It was mentioned in the football thread. Either way most don\'t acknowledge it as well because their was better.

Apparently you have distaste for the NFL\'s new all time rusher. What dont you like about him, I believe the only reason that keeps ya from recognizing this great achievement is either A: It didnt happen on your favorite team or B: You think if the Cowboys suck all the players suck. Well Emmit has worked at that record for 13 years. Come on man, give the guy a little recognition.
I didnt come here to argue and defend Emmit Smith, just appreciate somone who has achieved so much in football. Superbowl\'s, MVP\'s, All Time Rusher, and 150 touchdowns!!.
Come on man, theres no need to be like this.
Edit:
Sorry, I guess I didnt notice it in the Football thread Bozco. Yea there was better but this still needs to be recognized. Let\'s see any one of ya go do that.
-
Meh, his record in my opinion is about as big of a deal as Strahans sack record last year.
-
I\'ve been around the PSX2 Central boards for a couple years or so now. I would like to think like I always have that the maturity and moral of these boards is quite high like it was in the past. So please, leave your dissrespecting posts somewhere else. *cough*GmanJoe*cough*
Seriously, can someone honestly tell me this is not a great achievement. It took the poor guy 13 years, Emmit has incredible work ethic wich might be the only reason that helped him get this.
Edit:
Emmit has had to play in an era where players are faster, quicker, stronger, and in better shape. Yet, he accomplished this. Yet if this was a couple years ago when Mark Mcguire hit 70 home runs then ya would of problly been jumping for joy like I was. Today Baseball parks are a bit smaller, and bats 10 times better.
-
If Barry Sanders had Emmit Smith\'s offensive line and blockers, Sanders would\'ve broke the record a few years before he retired. I think that Barry\'s the greatest rusher ever.

Crazy talk, I would put it closer to some of Jerry Rice\'s records.

I agree, and it was really ashame to see him go before he broke the record. If he has just waited a little longer, even with the poor offensive line he could of gotten the record. It was defintally a dissapointment to see the guy quit. If he hadnt, we would have two great rushers beat Peytons record.

I wouldn\'t, because Jerry set his records at the peak of his carrier, while Emmit did his in the twilight of his career. Also Jerry was a probowler when he set his, while Emmit is trying to not be benched in favor of Hambrick.
-
I did! in the 2002 NFL football thread, I posted the Browns win over the Jets and said Kudos to emitt smith at the end!

Either way you look at it, it\'s still quite a milestone. All though, his past couple of years have been dim the previous were outstanding. Not many will keep themselves in the shape emmit has and work as hard as emmit has at this point in this life to reach this goal. Thats why I believe this record means alot, it really sets an example.
Thanks for noticing Emmit Kilax, least someone is a appreciative. :)
-
Thats why we created the NFL thread... Although no one mentioned it in there either.... I personally think Payton and Sanders are better runners, but, meh, he\'s had a great career. Its not time for him to move his old ass aside to make way for Troy Hambrick.
And what happened to your penis man? Seriously.
-
The subject heading is a bit condescending. You\'re ashamed of us? Maybe that\'s why you got the cold shoulder.
-
He\'s still got a little left in him. Emmit\'s going to continue playing for the love of the game like Jerry did and just take things slow untill his retirement.
As for my penis, it\'s gone!!!
Just kidding, the pain finally went away and it\'s quite healthy.;)

And Strahan\'s was a single season record while Emmit\'s was a career achievement.

The subject line was kind of a joke but I should of been more straightforward with that. I didnt intend to offend anyone, I\'ll be more carefull whith my thread headings in the future.

Well....you got my attention. :p

We would have seen one great runner(Sanders) shatter the record and another above average player(Smith) struggle to get in second place.
Smith has the record; but Sanders was better and there are many backs now who are better than Emmit was in his prime. I think Emmits rushing record will be broken in no time at all.
-
Emmit Smith isn\'t what everyone makes him out to be. I\'m happy he got the record, but he isn\'t the best RB to play in the NFL. This record is just an accomplishment of dedication to the game he loves. He says he has a few more years in him, and I\'m happy that he\'ll continue to play. A great achievement sure, but he doesn\'t get the credit because so many are better and have been better than he is now.
I\'ve always liked Dallas since way back when they drafted Derrick Lassic. Too bad he never got a chance to play cause Emmit stole the show.
/me wonders how many people actually knows who Derrick Lassic is?
Here is a hint: He rushed for 125 yards and 2 TD\'s in the 92 National Chapionship game.
Sam Shade, George Teague, and David Palmer were also on his team. And a few more NFL stars and role players.
Not to mention the guy we made look foolish in that game that won the Heisman trophy over.....MARSHALL FAULK!!! Mr. Gino "who" Torretta.
Anyways back on topic:
Jim Brown is the best RB to ever play that position. Barry Sanders comes in second with Emmit bringing up the rear. He holds the all-time rushing record, but not the title of best RB to ever play the game.
-
Emmitt?
All Time Rusher?
Cowboys?
*Kurt shrugs*

WHo are you tellin? To make it worse, they lost to the vikings..the fockin VIKINGS???!!! That beating was worse than loosing to the Lions the previous week. I am sooo ashamed to be a bears fan.
As for topic, Im with Dajo and give Jim Brown the greatest all time. Followed by Barry and Payton. Emmit would probably end up being 4th in my book. Not to take anything away from him b/c he certainly did acheive a great feat. Congrats to him. Not to mention, he is a pretty damn nice guy as well. Met him when I was living in Irving Texas during a training session.
-
Barry Sanders is the best running back I\'ve ever watched, I\'m 19 so I\'ve seen very few great backs, Bo Jackson could of been one of the greatest had it not been for injuries. But if Sanders would not have retired, I believe he would of broke 20,000 yards.
-
the bears are losers, plain and simple.
im glad i was in michigan yesterday and didnt get to see the game cause i woulda had a stroke.
p.s. sweetness was the best football player of all time... not just the best running back but the best FOOTBALL PLAYER.
there i said it.

Thanks alot man, I was just getting that possibility out of my mind and then you go and remind me again. Ahh well, if I have a disease I\'ll find out in oh say a few months to a year or so now.
Plus, I thought this topic was about Emmit..not my defunct penis.
-
It is, and everyone else is doing a good job at keeping it on topic. Sorry. I just forgot about it and it cought me off guard..
