Title: ~Official NBA 2002-2003 Thread~
Post by: theomen on October 29, 2002, 09:37:27 PM
Today was the opening day of the 2002-2003 NBA season, and my Kings have started it off with a win!  They were missing two starters because of injury, and a suspension to Christie because of the fight with Fox.  Luckily their incredible bench made up for the lose of Bibby and Christie, Damon Jones scored 18 points, Hedo has 14, and Wallace came in with 15.  All in all a nice showing of the Kings depth.

BTW, my Kings will bitch slap Vapors pussy ass Lakers!

Don\'t make me re-create my "GO LAKERS" sig again...

Christie\'s a bitch. Fox has everything he wants.

I love how that worthless punk Rick Fox got suspended for SIX games, while Doug Christie only got a two game suspension.  Christie is serving notice that the Kings and the rest of the league are not going to take any more of Fox\'s arrogant HORSESHIT on the court.  Next time he tries to pull that stuff, he\'s going to be picking up his own teeth.

Considering I liked them before their run at the rings, when Van Exel was playing guard, we had Eddie Jones, Elden Campbell and ****ing Kurt Rambis coaching us. You can make your assumptions, but I\'ve been a Lakers fan for easily 10 years now.

This is definitely going to be a great season.  Personally, I\'m a 76ers fan, and believe that IF they get their squad injury free, they could make a decent run for the Eastern Conference.

What\'s even greater, though, is that the Lakers start out 0-2:)  God I hate the Lakers.  Whether it\'s because a large chunk of their fans are only their for the success, or the fact they eliminated my sixers to years ago, I don\'t know.  But really, look at their current state.  Shaqs out for, what is it, five more weeks?  Fox is out for 4 more games I believe, and Kobe, though he plays, injured his ankle.  Then take a look at their schedule.  I\'d bet they start out AT LEAST 0-4, and won\'t go on a decent streak (say, five games) until the beginning of January.

They\'re going to the playoffs and thats all that matters. And we know what the Lakers are capable of doing when they\'re in the playoffs.
Title: ~Official NBA 2002-2003 Thread~
Post by: shockwaves on October 31, 2002, 08:13:08 PM
Ethan, the sixers are going no where.  Every expert out there says they are a team on the decline, and they won\'t get far at all this year.  I am inclined to agree.  That, and I have learned not to give credit to anything you say anyway :)

And who cares about early season injuries?  As long as the players are healthy at playoff time, nothing else matters.

On that note, I think that there are only 4 teams that could possibly win it all this year: The Lakers, the Kings, and the Mavs, and the Wizards.  I\'m sorry, but I still refuse to count a playoff team with Jordan out of anything.

The Celtics - getting 0wn3d. MJ puts up 21, and the Wizards beat the Celtics by 45...wow.

And about those Lakers, they\'ll be fine. Once Shaq gets back, he\'ll get away with what he wants, and they\'ll start to win. That\'s how it\'s been for the last 3 years. Nothing different...he can say what he wants because he gets away with what he wants.

I don\'t care what "experts" say.  The fact of the matter is, they\'re 1-1.  Iverson\'s playing with an injured finger, and the second highest scorer on their team, DC, is out.  Once he gets back and is in full swing, along with Van Horn, they\'ll go far.  I guarantee it.  Championship?  Not likely. Eastern Conference finals?  Perhaps.  Oh yeah ... I told you the knicks were going to be crap this year, you should give me credit:)

And yeah, someone said something about "what the lakers can do in the playoffs".  Yeah ... last year they went to game 7 with the Kings.  I\'m convinced the Kings are getting better, and will continue to get better as they get their starting lineup back together.

Kings will dominate the playoffs this year, hell with only 2 starters on the floor last night, they bitch slapped the Blazers.  And I\'m hoping that their depth on the bench will be what pushes them ahead of the Lakers this year.

Dude, it\'s two games into the season.  Don\'t give me any "they\'ve been good so far" crap.  Eastern Finals?  Not a chance in hell.  As for the Knicks, I said they might be halfway decent before McDyess got hurt.  Without him, they are crap.  Without Spree, they are below crap.

I don\'t think Shaq is going to be out for 5 weeks or whatever someone said, I heard something like 5 more games.  The Heat are without Zo so that pretty much means they\'ll be giving Denver a run for the worst record in the league.  I\'ll just have to root for the Pacers since they are the only team that I like that has a slim chance at doing anything.

Even if we don\'t get James, we will get a high draft pick.  We have absolutely no young talent, and it would be nice to get someone decent for once.  If we do, and then McDyess comes back full strength next year, who knows.
