Title: Wheelies & Stoppies
Post by: on November 04, 2002, 08:55:32 AM
A wheelie is riding on rear tire only, stoppie is front tire only, right?  Okay, I can do both of these...but it never tells me how many seconds.  In the stats my wheelies and stoppies are all 0...so what am I doing wrong?

i can ride wheelies for several seconds and I do not see a timer either. I also read on allps2.com that you get paid for doing wheelies, i havent seen any increase in my money. Anyone else?

I\'ve since done a little research and it looks like you have to do a wheelie for at least 6 seconds before it registers.  Don\'t know if that\'s true or not.

Can anyone here do a stoppie for more than 1 or 2 seconds?  Seems impossible to me, but I guess it seemed impossible to fly the dodo in GTA3 at first.

I\'ve gotten money for wheelies and stoppies. You have to do it for like 4-5 seconds though. Not that difficult if you got one of the faster MCs

Getting paid for wheelies is tough. Find a flat, straight piece
of land with few cars (the back of the docks, near the "C" on
the screen works well) and try it with a moped.
To get the moped to wheelie, it\'s easiet to hit reverse for a
second, then gas it and pull back. Like someone else said,
they have to be long (5-6 secs) before you get anything.

Stoppies are much easier. Try them with the moped, as
well (It seems like they are easiest on the \'ped). You only
have to hold up for 2 seconds to get $$$ for those.
Just lean forward, and hit both brakes to start the stoppie.
After that, you can just use the handbrake and even a little
gas to keep on going. I can usually do stoppies for a while,
and then the bike/moped will start to turn, and it\'s lights
out from there...

My longest wheelie was 14 seconds, never really payed attention to getting money.
Longest stoppie was four seconds, both with the pcg-600. Best bike in the game IMO.
BTW, you can turn when your doing a wheelie, maybe not sharp, but if your in the middle of the street and need to get around a car it works, just dont do it to suddenly.

I finally did it, I went to the airport with the pcg-600 and did wheelies and stoppies (endos) up and down the runway...got a lot money.

I call them endos here in the US also, its just that in GTA they call them stoppies.

I found it\'s easy for me to do wheelies with the Sanchez dirt bike.  Using the d-pad also makes it easier (I always use the analog stick except for doing wheelies).

I always end up fliping head over heels with the sanchez. Its like its TOO easy to do wheelies.
Going around the dirt bike tracks sure are fun, but the dirt race in the arena is the best, nothing like jumps and lopp-da-loops. Its great.

right... got ya, so how u do them i read u press back to do wheelies, how u do endos just slam on brakes??? hopefully should get this game tomorrow or thurs

To do an endo/stoppie:

Get going pretty fast, and then lean forward (stick/control pad)
as you hit both brakes (handbrake/R1 and regular brake/square).
You\'ll start to pop the back wheel up, and then it\'s just a matter
of using the handbrake/gas/lean to see how far you can go.
Different bikes to it easier/better than others (the Harley\'s
can\'t do it at all, obviously).

Only if your not a biker, endo is a BMX term I think. What\'s everyones record for stunts.

Wheelie - 719.4 meters
Stoppie - 70.8 meters.

I was impressed but am sure I\'ll be humbled very soon!!

I dont know about meters, but my longest wheelie in seconds was about 24.
Stoppies I only got to about 3, i swear Ill get 4 soon tho. MF\'s are hard.

Dont forget, the ps2 buttons for the accelerator and brake are pressure sensitive.
You can use this to your advantage for balancing wheelies and endos

On the PCJ 600 use the d-pad as it\'s not as sensitive, lean back as far as you can and use half throttle.

Got up to 27 seconds!
Still only 3 with the stoppies tho.

Can anyone get a respectable wheelie using the crossers, damn they\'re twitchy.

What do you mean by "crossers"? The mopeds?

Also Proud, jump on a \'moped (Pizza Boy works great) and
try this for a stoppie:
Get to a nice cruising speed, then lean forward and hit both
brakes. Let off on the regular brake (square) pretty quickly,
and you should be cruising while holding the handbrake (R1).
Keep gassing it, and you can even let off the handbrake.
You\'ll basically just stay in the "stoppie" position until you
start to turn sideways, or hit a bump or something.

Last night, I did a stoppie for 6 or  7 seconds, something like
150meters, or whatever they measure. I tried to let of the
lean with the d-pad - I think you can probably extend the stoppie
for quite a while, but I have to work on that some more.

Crossers may be a British-ism, not sure what countries everyone\'s from, they\'re the off roaders that sound like a very large bee having a fit inside a tin can.

Ah, the dirtbikes. Gotchya...Yeah, they are a bit squirly.
Can hit some nice jumps on them, though?

*This is a bit of a spoiler...but oh well...*

Have you guys jumped the "wave" near the airport? I didn\'t
realize it was a jump until just last night...

wheelies are easy, just keep tapping X to balance yourself out nicely, works especially well if you\'ve got a long straight road.

I kinda figured out a way like that.
I usually haul ass with the PCJ, then slam on the normal brakes, when it starts to go down, slam on the handbrake(with the normal brake.) It pops my back end up again so I get some extra yardage. But still cant get quite long enough for a 6-7 seconder.

the trick to do wheelies it to get on your rear tire then just tap gas. I have done wheelies like this for 18 seconds. (my longest yet)

Rick...argh. I thought I might have set the record at 44 secs
this weekend. ;)

I did pull a 10 second stoppie on the moped - my best yet.
Same combo of both brakes, then let off the brakes, then
just cruise until you wreck/turn so much you need to stop.

Get the car with hydros. You can get on two wheels without any ramps or anything. But I dont think that would be best for such a stunt. Ive gotten up to about 7 seconds with the sabre turbo.

As with the wheelies, Ive gotten to 60 seconds. Then I went to do a mission and my game froze so I couldnt save it. Oh well.

yeah, its really easy on the moped, once u steady urself, just full throttle and full down on the d-pad. where do i get hydraulics cars?

I found it easiest to do wheelies with a crosser, just keep slow speed and tap throttle once a while. It just keeps going and it isnĀ“t hard to turn at corners or avoid collision with cars.
(I drove from beach road toward airport with no difficulties.)

longest wheelie 96 Seconds and distance somewhere between 1.5-2km

How can a 90 second wheelie only be between 1.5 and 2km????? My 65 on a moped (teh slow!) was 2.5km!!!!!!
Title: Wheelies & Stoppies
Post by: Peltopukki on November 26, 2002, 12:38:40 AM
Drive SLOW, way below normal driving speed. :)
actualy if U just get nose up and won\'t press throttle it will keep it up for some time. probly far enough to get a wheelie.. :)
