Maybe, I hope it does have damage-able cars and weather.

Gran Turismo 4 Details Appear
According to numerous sources, Gran Turismo 4 is well in development and perhaps due for a late 2003 release. It\'s not a surprise, really, since the numbers 4 follows 3, and Gran Turismo 3: A-spec was a roaring success (and for that matter, all of the GT games have been roaring successes).
What we have heard is that the game is about 50% complete, and that Polyphony Digital Lead Producer Kazunori Yamauchi has stated it will feature damage-able car models and realtime weather conditions. If true, the car damage models would be a first for the series and definitely affect gameplay, depending on how much damage the cars actually take (i.e. simple exterior damage versus structural or engine damage). The realtime weather conditions are an extension of the excellent lighting techniques mastered in GT3, and will hopefully include rain, hail, fog, snow and more, though admittedly that\'s pure speculation on our part.
-
It will.Usually great developers are watching gamers\' complaints and likes when they want to make a sequel so they would make it better.
And PD arent stupid to not include damage-able cars when is one of the biggest complaints for the previous. The series might loose fans.
-
I hope they drop the rally mode. It does nothing but take up space if you ask me. And they better keep test course, I can only imagine the type of racing it will produce with 6+ human drivers drive equal cars around its high banks :D
I\'m wanting engine failures they can result from bad shifting, and to be greedy static cockpits with working guages :D
Can\'t wait for the online championship :D
-
The rally mode is superb! I hope they don\'t drop it.
-
GT uses real licenced cars so how do ya expect this to work out? They havent been able to allow damage on any of the titles in the past so why would every company that they feature in GT4 all of asuden decide to let this happen. Expect a dramatic decrease in the amount of cars available.
-
The Getaway has damage-able cars from Toyota,Honda,Nissan,Ford and many more from the biggest car makers, so I can\'t see no reason why GT4 can\'t have them.

Drop the rally mode?Excuse me....drop the rally mode?NO WAY!!It was great.Perhaps you werent good at it,or you dont like rally games or you prefer running against more than 1 opponent with other non rally cars

All of the above is true.
If they spent more time on the Rally mode and made it more then what I would call a side game, I would say keep it. But at it\'s present state it\'s nothing more then a few single races.
-
Hmm, the problem in GT3 was that there were just a few manufacturers that didn\'t allow damage - even if 9 out of 10 say yes - what do you want to do? You can\'t just enable damage on 9 of them while the other one just hasn\'t got any!
I think in an interview way back with Yamauchi, he stated that he might do the damage-mode seperate where you can only use the cars which were agreed to have damage included.
-
I think a damage model is the only logical step forward in the GT series. After all it is what everyone wants and the GT series needs to advance that extra step further. Most other driving games have damage models and I don\'t see any manufacturers complaining there.
Also completely new tracks would be better so it won\'t be dubbed GT3.5! After all you can\'t keep using the same tracks year after year.
-
This whole manufacturers don\'t want damage is a load of crock crap. Anyone played a NFS game? Not only do they have crappy sedans, they also have Ferrari\'s and the like, and all of these cars have damage.
Most manufacturers don\'t mind damage as long as its done properly and realistically. A game like GT is a really good publicity machine.
For all we know, the agreement with having your car featured in GT4 is if you allow damage. I guarentee that 99%, if not 100% of all manufacturers approached would agree on using damage. Its just an old excuse for dev\'s who can\'t be bothered putting in the man hours to create a decent damage model.
-
Racer - how many manufacturers does NFS feature? How many does GT have?
Also, how do you want to "guarantee" something you can only speculate on yourself? ;)
EDIT: mr. niceguy-edit.
-
I would like to have car damage but I do understand that it costs lot of money. I trust in Poliphony.
-
Perhaps they should add some videos and information about the cars\' safety in accidents.Like the tests with the dolls? It would be something like an advertisement or commercial for them giving information about their cars\' safety and give the green light to PD.....Bah!!Perhaps I am talking BS.

Bleh, no thanks. I want a racing game, not a drivers safety course.
-
I mean with the information given about each car model. Not in gameplay
-
HOW ABOUT NAKED CHIX AND DOG SHIT!? WE CAN CALL IT GRAN TURISMO XXX !!!!!!!!!!!!!1111oneone
-
WHY NOT!!!!!!!IT WORKS FOR THE MAX MAGAZINES!!!!!!!:D

Errr, NFS features the likes of Lamborghini, Ferrari, Ford, HSV, Aston Martin, Chrysler, Dodge, Porsche, BMW, Chevrolet, Jaguar, Mercedes, Vauxhall and Opel.
Notice all the big names in there?
Sure, its only speculation, but its a known fact that Polyphony have wanted to include damage since GT3. Because GT3 was such a massive seller, its the only logical step forward. The GT series is such a good publicity tool for car makers.
-
Perhaps one of the reason is none of the other games have such realistic looking models as the GT series....look at NFS:HP2. Despite being 1 to 2 years newer than GT3, the graphics is not even on par with GT3. GT3 is THE place where you can find ALL(well, most) of the most famous cars on the planet where it actually LOOKS and DRIVES like one.
Maybe that is why the manufacturer won\'t allow damage in GT series. another reason could be to implement damage in GT3 takes up too much resource. As we know the physics in GT series is the most accurate anywhere and to implement damage AND accurate physics that is NOT a simple job. Most other games implement damages but the physics related to the damage is not quite accurate.
At any rate, I\'m looking foward for the next evolution in the GT series.
-
GT4 will kickass. Clowd, ralley\'s are in the Gran Turismo foundation so they probably won\'t drop it. Besides, the ralleys kick major ass and are a great change from the road racing. I own in rally\'s :D
-
They honestly need to secure the rights to do real-time damage. That was one of the main complaints from the series and people like me, honestly find the fact that it is suppose to be a "driving simulation" a tad distracting when there is no real time damage. If they can work the AI out and get real time damage, then I\'ll be excited, but until then I will file this one under \'yet another sequel\'.
-

Okay, so NFS features 15 car makers. Gran Turismo goes clearly beyond this number, featuring cars from Mercedes, Tommy Kaira, Mini, Toyota, Opel, Aston Martin, Jaguar.. the list goes on and on. If just one single car manufacturer refuses to see damage on their cars, you can forget it.
So much for calling it bullshit, lazyness etc... Clearly, you have no idea what manufacturers allow and what not.
-
seven, your a complete and utter dick, read back over my post and you will see you missed my point totally.
I said that its possible that a condition for having your car in GT4 is that you allow for damage. Like I said, GT is such a massive publicity machine its not funny. I am sure they\'ll be waving they\'re hands to get their cars in GT4, whether its got damage or not.
-
Unless you have a split personality or a classic case of Alzheimer, then the following is what you said:

Huh, you were saying? Who\'s the dick now?

I hate when I\'m forced to agree with every little word Racer says...
:(

Whose the dick now seven? I clearly imply here that it could be part of the contract of having your car featured in GT4 if you allow damage.
:nut: I\'m such a spastic... :nut:
-
that\'s highly doubtful, as Polyphony (more specifically Yamauchi) stated that they were able to build up a good relationship to the manufacturers over the time (GT: concept proves this). Them not wanting damage is something they had to accept, in order to maintain that good relationship. You however, blamed the developers in your first post for not wanting to put in the man hours to create a decent crashmodel [purely speculation] and speculating over what car manufacturers want to see and allow and what not.
If you really think the car manufacturers will be fighting to have their car included in GT, then I think you\'re living in a dreamworld. More so, it shows that you have absolutely no idea. Deal with the fact that there are manufacturers that don\'t want damage on their cars. It\'s really that simple.
And no, I\'m certainly not the dick here.
-
The word \'could\' is obviously one you don\'t understand...
"Da eye spick eanlgish? Da eye udderstann eanlgish?"

i am going to book at 1st class flight to Oz and come down there and shove that shower head up were the sun don\'t shine  .
p.s
wooopppssss sorry though you were talking to me :(
-
Seven is correct. Yamauchi has said before that he could not have the cars damaged because a few car manufactures did not wish to have their cars damaged. (duh)
If not all manufacturers agreed to have their cars damaged he would not have ANY cars damaged. You know how Yamauchi is, he\'s almost homosexually pedant. :)
GT3 features something like 38 car manufactures.
-
I find it so funny when little kids resort to personal insults... :D
Credit goes to Fast for pointing out the obvious. Unfortunately, something some people still refuse to see... I swear, if this board had an obligatory IQ-test before registering, we wouldn\'t be dealing with such stupidity. :nut:
-
All said and done, it will come down to this=
Damge or not, you all will being eating my dust in GT4 online.
-
MAKE DREAMS BUDDY!!!I wont be among the "All" eating your dust.
Because...................I dont think I ll ever be able to play online games on my PS2.:D,:(

GT3 features something like 38 car manufactures.
Then why has Yamauchi been quoted in more recent interviews about a GT3 successor (not GT3 itself) that damage is still a possibility?
Its the only real logical step forward for the series, as people can only race around the same tracks so many times.
Sure, GT3 has 38 car manufactures, and I guarentee that at least 30+ of them, plus countless others that haven\'t even been included in the series yet, wouldn\'t mind car damage if done properly and realistically (to show that damage is created by bad driving, not by bad creation of car dynamics).
And as I have said in countless threads before hand, I said \'could\'. I didn\'t say that this is definate, it was simply a theory as to how Yamauchi could be going about getting damage in the game.
I mean, this is \'The Real Driving Simulator\'... Damage is the only thing missing physics wise.
-
I wouldn´t be surprised by one thing, GT/2 brought us a standard car race with official car brands, GT3 brought us the same, plus official Rally cars, now IMO gt4 will surelly will bring F1 official cars with it, i bet that has passed over polyphony heads, plus damage, they will probably get a GT4 with 30% improved graphics, 40% improved effetcs & 30% for AI. Buts that´s all my speculation
-
Does anyone know if GT4 plans to include any cars that were previously left out, like the ferarri and lambo?
-
I think they can\'t get Ferrari and Lamborghini due to the NFS games which already have them exclusive (not sure if that goes for Lamborghini too though).
I would love to see the McLaren F1 LM/GTR in the game though... wow.. that would be a blast!!!
-
That is how I understood it as well, but surely that contract has a timespan. Anyway it would be nice to include some of those cars. Also if when you buy the car it is a stock standard car kit. Then u can buy and select your kit eg Your bumpers, skirts, etc or even that green neon light the guys in "Fast and furious" had. or how about NOS? maybe over the top but thats my 2 cents worth
-
omg, he mentioned "fast in the furious"
