Title: Need some help !
Post by: jp6666 on November 13, 2002, 07:12:20 PM: Yo people ! i have had my PS2 since launch ! the first day ever in Canada ! but i just started having trouble and its being a fussy little ***** ! i does not want to play suikoden 3 anymore , but plays FFX , not Gran turismo 3 , but Kessen ! its pissing me off ! also from time to time i hear a little noise like if it was hitting or scratching something ! so what do you guys think ? and remember i have had it for over 2 years so opening it and just taking off dust and setting screws right IS AN OPTION !

Post by: dajo on November 13, 2002, 09:42:57 PM: I\'m on my third console. All I can say is I hope cleaning the lens will help. It did for awhile with my first 2, but the clicking you are hearing is the laser trying to read the disk. I could be wrong but that is what happened to me just before it decided to die on me.

I have my new one I just bought about 10 weeks ago, and I have one boxed up in my closet that only plays blue disk. I had a warranty on the first one I got at launch and traded it in for the second one that lasted just over a year.

Good luck to you...I really hope yours hasn\'t died. Sony made fixes to the newer consoles released, not nearly as many returns or problems from what I hear.

The launch consoles though... I had nothing but problems with mine. I\'m glad you have gotten 2 years out of it. Maybe a good lens cleaning will help it out. I\'ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Post by: ben_high on November 13, 2002, 09:53:48 PM: Nah mine has been makeing that clicking noise forever and it still reads every game.Go here http://www.gamefaqs.com and look under the PS2 hardware section for a cleaning walkthrough.If that doesn\'t fix it there is a walkthrough for adjusting the strength of the CD and DVD lasers.

If that doesn\'t work you can put it in the freezer.

Thanks alot guys ! my Launch PS2 can keep on thicking ! very important since i don\'t have any money to buy an other one !

Now lets just hope its gonne be ok for a LONG while !
