Title: Scratched SOCOM wont load (any tips?)
Post by: Magoo on November 17, 2002, 09:05:10 PM
It\'s in DVD format so I don\'t know if that CD Doctor thing would work.  I tried cleaning it with the regular cd spray and wipe cleaner, did nothing.  It wont get past the first loading screen.  And the weird thing is the scratch is more on towards the edge of the cd instead of the middle.  I though the ps2 loaded from the middle.  I dunno.

Anything I can do with what I got right now?  Can it be my ps2? all my other (18) games never had a problem.  Is there a dvd doctor?  I know those are a last resort but I think I\'m down to that.

TIA

You could always buy a new one, then switch it for the scratched one and take it back for a refund. Say it was an unwanted present or something.

all u need is a cotton tab, some of that liquit that fills in scratches, and a hand. dap the tab in some liquid, and swipe from the inside out, go over about 5 times, worked great for my badly scratched crazy taxi disc

I would go with Kurt on this one.  As far as the disk being read from the middle out.  That may be the case fro audio CD\'s butnot for DVD\'s.  Think of it this way.  The initial loading of the game might be near the middle, but the settings, options, or any other information it needs to diplay may be in a completely different place.(Like the outside)  Kind of like your hard disk.  It saves information all over the friggin place.

Actually, come to think of it.  You cant return video games, just trade them out for a different one.  Maybe you can find someone with a fresh receipt and payed with cash.
