Title: The new GT-R
Post by: luckee on November 18, 2002, 06:26:01 AM
The new 3.3L alloy block V6 will use the stroke length from the VQ35 and the bore from the VQ30. It will use twin electronically assisted turbochargers, which is a first! Apparently two small electric motors will be attached to the turbine shaft spinning it at lower revs when no positive boost is being made thus eliminating turbo lag. Furthermore variable valve timing and variable valve lift will be used in order to achieve the 400ps that is predicted.
The M-spec will get a 6 speed CVT transmission while the V-spec a 6 speed MT. Active suspension will be used, along with 4 pot Brembos all round and huge 19" wheels.

i hope that is not the norm for future developments

To be honest it looks pretty nasty, i prefer the rawness of the R-34, it looks like it wants to eat all other road cars. In an era of frindly looking faceless silver bubbles it stood out as a complete beast, now it looks like a boring concept rep car.

I\'m also sick to the back teeth of silver cars.

I hope this is one of the many thousands of concept cars that never makes it to the factory, otherwise another of historys greats has just turned middle aged like the Golf Gti.

I don\'t like the turn signals either.  At least make them clear rather than amber.

I don\'t really like it, I much prefered the look of the R-34 V-spec. Amazing performance and handling.

Edit- Ok pic is back up.  I like the style Nissan is using on their new lineups but the Skyline was always different.  This looks like a G35/350z hybrid and no straight-6 this time.  The hood really gets me, it should be more boxy and formidable like a BMW.  Oh well, Im sure the performance numbers when released will cheer me up.

As for the turn signals on the lights I may be wrong about this but I assumed that turn signals either have to be yellow or red (yellow in front, either yellow or red in the back).  I can\'t recall offhand of another vehicle that came with clear corners stock.  But people who mod their cars will exchange them with clear corners anyway, and if it\'s a Skyline owner there is a 99.999999% chance they will mod it. :)

So this engine will be the VQ33?  I think it would be sexy if Nissan called it the VQ33TT. :facelick:  Maybe an extra E for the 2 electric motor thingy.  Anyone have an idea what "active suspension" is?  It\'s a form of 4-wheel independent I trust..

I like the less refined Skyline of old. :p

No other car will ever touch the greatness of the R34 GTR!!!:eyemouth: Its the "holy grail" of all cars....in my opinion, of course. Only one word can describe the R34....BEAST!
