125 million transistors running at around 500Mhz, jebus that beast needs cooling....and it has it take a look at the pics from the usual sources AnandTech (http://www.anandtech.com), Toms (http://www.tomshardware.com) and so on....
Won\'t be out till February though.
-
That would melt my motherboard at 50 paces.
-
The card does sound amazing. I hear they might start it at about $360US too, which is cheaper than I thought it would be.
Too bad they named it GeForceFX tho. What a dumb name. It makes it sound like GeForce 4MX... to me, anyway.
-
yeah there\'s been some talk about the name, it might sound confusing to the average joe since it sounds a lot like MX.
But nVidia has this whole Hollywood cinema graphic quality thing going.
-
I just bought a Gf4 Ti4200 with TV-out for $114 from Newegg. Looks like it won\'t be lowering in price anytime soon after all so I\'m glad I bought it when I did.
$360 is a lot of clams, is this the highest a graphics card w/ no video capture has ever been released at? I remember when I got a GF2 GTS [Elsa Gladiac] when it was out and I found it for like $242 on the net.
-
the thing takes 2 SLOTS!!!!!!! heck no!!!!! my radeon 9700 Pro takes 1! I\'ll stay with my radeon!

what moron uses the 1st PCI slot below the AGP port anyways?
now go beat on the friend who convinced you to buy a radeon
-
Why do you hate Radeons so much, mm?

In the UK we have washing powder called radeon.

Because he\'s a narrowminded nVidea whore.
Oh, forgot the \':p\'.
-
the specs on the nvidia dont look so narrowminded, do they?
i made the mistake of buying an ATI card once.
it will never happen again
they\'ll be back in the closet with cyrix soon enough
-
Yeah yeah, blah blah blah. And then what when ATi releases a Radeon that\'s ever faster than the FX? Pfft, it\'s a neverending routine. Just buy a card and be happy, instead of a bitter old fanboy who hates certain companies.
-
yep.. i buy cards only when the games need em.. i mean more then 1. Give it a year then buy whatevers good then.. Cheaper and better. Unless your a Benchmark freak, u don\'t need 180fps etc.
-
lol, how am i a fanboy for buying thier shitty product, using it, and then shunning them?
nvidia delivers and then some, every time
may 3DFX rest in peace
-
How is the Radeon a shitty product, mm? Enlighten me.
-
1. driver support
2. game issues
2. innovation-price ratio
3. insert facetious answer here
4. driver support
but hey, everyone loves an underdog
-
yep.. may the underdog rest in peace.. i mean 3dfx. ;)
-
shame tho
noone could do glide like 3dfx
glide > openGL
-
yea... Glide rocked. Playing Unreal on my 2 Monster 3D 2 cards 12meg SLI was crazy. Beat the living S@#T outta my ViperV330 card.
-
damn thats one big ass fan, anyways i cant wait to see what this card is capabale of doing.

I do as my master!
When I first got my Pentium II (my first REAL gaming PC.. before that I owned a 486) it had a "nice" Riva 128 8MB graphics card.
After 1 year I got a TNT2 Ultra 32MB.. That one I kept for 3 years.
When I got this PC I bought a GeForce 4 Ti4200 (64MB), and I reckon I wont be upgrading anytime soon. Not until the newer PC games demand a new card at least, so I expect it to last maybe 2 years or so.
Like Souly said, I dont need 100+++fps.. 40+ fps is fine by me. :)
-

Granted NVIDIA had better cards back in the TNT2(best card name) Gefore 1 -2 era, oh and yes ATi\'s driver support in the past was not up par to NVIDIA\'s.
With that being said, The cards they are delevering now are amazing, driver support is much better. Heck My next card just might be an ATI, I mean hey look at my name FOLKS!
ATI is 10 miniutes away from where I live here in TORONTO and I can get a deal on those suckers!! LONG LIVE ATI
It\'s about time some other company takes the crown from nvidia cause they were boring the crap out me. Remeber competetion is good, drives prices down "abit" and forces the competetion to work hard and create more innovative ideas
-
heh I suggest you try going to http://www.geforcefx.net and http://www.geforcefx.org heh heh heh
-
And once again ATi pisses on nVidia. :p
-
i want a new card but im gonna wait cause directx 9.0 is coming out next year and it will require new hardware
cards that can handle it are coming out now but id wait a while till its been implemented for sometime
-
the 9700 is dx9 compatable and I belive the Parhelia is semi dx9 compatable
-
Nvidia all the way here. I will line up to get this card.

I guess it isn\'t. :)
You do get a nice vacuuming sound though.
LOL @ this quote from THG:
And it has a look that is similarly spectacular to the 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 at the time of its launch.
[/b]And look where 3dfx is now. J/k :p

DX9 is out go to http://www.microsoft.com/directx/

Do you still stand by that after seeing the reviews?
The below isn\'t directed to you, jiggs, I just wanna post it in a seperate message. ;)
Personally, I think the FX is a big disappointment. I wasn\'t expecting an 8500 --> 9700 pro leap, but I was expecting it to be better in every benchmark. At least something to justify the price difference. They had far too long to work on it to let it be where it\'s at right now.
Why pay $100 more for a few more FPS (sometimes not even 1!) but far worse AA and AF performance? Arguably better drivers? Please. ATI and nVidia drivers are on par nowadays... the only compatibility problems are because developers don\'t fully support ATI, not because ATI "has bad drivers".
Hopefully some things will change now and developers will start making sure ATI and nVidia are supported equally.
