Title: Old GTA problems
Post by: §ôµÏG®ïñD on November 20, 2002, 04:08:14 PM
I thought i\'d go back to GTA1 and 2 and give em another go. Problem is that GTA1 doesn\'t like running in the high color mode. I get this can\'t find SuperVGA BS.. I\'ve tryed running Glide Wrappers to convert the 3DFX instructions to d3d. Hoping i could run the 3DFX version of it. No luck :(   Anyone got this game working on windows xp in the highcolor version? if so how.. any ideas?

Thinking maybe a dos emulator or vesa emulater.. hmm

After mm\'s reply i\'ll explain it abit better.

Ok. There\'s 3 MODES in GTA.
8Bit     (Low color  -    VGA)
24bit   (High Color -  SVGA)
3DFX   (Best Color - GLIDE)

Now the Low color - VGA mode works fine, but the rez and color sucks.
I tryed to use a Glide wrapper to run the 3DFX version. but it didn\'t work.
For those who don\'t know what a glide wrapper is. It\'s a emulator that emulates 3dfx (Glide) instructions and converts them to D3D/OpenGL instructions. So people without a 3dfx based card can run 3dfx games (somewhat)

Now i want to get the 24bit version of the game running. But i get a No SuperVGA chip deteted and in the game i get no SVGA modes working etc.
I know there\'s programs like Univesa etc that are meant to allow your card to run in SVGA mode. but there out dated and my card is abit to new for em. So i\'m wondering does anyone know of any program that will allow my card to emulate VESA modes so i can play the game in High color etc.
