Title: The Driver
Post by: Kurt Angle on November 22, 2002, 09:19:52 AM
Anybody have any tips for this mission, and why is it so frustratingly hard?. I want to throw my joypad out of the window!

I can stay ahead of him until I have to cross the final bridge, then I get t-boned by 2 cop cars and spin off. He wins all the time.

I have done all the other main missions, seen end credits etc, this just seems to be the most difficult mission in the game.

couple ideas:
(Those 2 cops that T-bone you are a pain).

Try to bump him (bumpin\' is racin\' - woooo hooo!) Stay on his
tail for a little while...after the first few turns, clip his rear
end as he rounds a corner. If you can get him to do a 180, and
pull ahead, you can usually stay ahead.

Also, I *think* you might be able to get out of your car once
the race is started. If you can hop on a bike, you might be able
to pass him up (his car isn\'t that fast).

I forget how I beat this one (it took a while), but I think bumping
him into a light pole or building allowed me to get ahead, and
from there it was easy.

Yeah, I beat him easily on a bike. Its pretty random when a bike will show up during the race though.

I finally did it. I got myself a 4 star rating before the race started, then just floored it past all the swat vans. Hardly a cop car in sight, much easier and left Hilary standing.

i fond it real easy, lost it round first corner first tiem i tried,  but took me a few more times to do it, cos i kept trying to push him off the road, but i always came of worse, the only thing i done was, there is a t junction somwhere, if ur in first, u have to brak, cos cops come from both directions, and crash into u

I found that going round every corner totally sideways helped, if you hit anything you can just power through. It also makes you twice as wide for overtaking.

One word to remember using this method,...........countersteer.

Either that or just lean on him from the start and carry on, you can maintain corner speed by using him as grip. When you see a chance just flip his car right over, you can walk the rest of the race from there.

I got lucky, I tried to shoot his tyres out at the start. I didn\'t see sparks flying, but he was fishtailing all over the place, so I assume that I managed to get at least one of them. After that, I just stayed with him to the last corner but one. The police came round the bend and hit him, leaving a path through for me.

I finally did it, but it was due to luck more than anything else.
