Does anyone know why I can\'t get my games full screen?
I\'ve tried all the settings, 4:3, Full and 16:9 but it doesn\'t make any difference. It\'s not so bad when you can adjust the screen in a game, but you can\'t do that with all of them and you still get a gap at the top and bottom.
Does the S-Video cable solve the problem?

how old is the tv your hooking the PS2 up to?
-
Are you in Europe?
If you are then that is just the PAL borders, it normal and there is nothing you can do.
-
What games do you own?
-
Yep, PAL Borders... some games have them (FFX), some don“t (GTA:VC) !
-
That\'s a bummer ! I\'ve only just bought a PS2 so I\'ve only got a few games, mostly driving. Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers is the worst. You can\'t even centre the screen in that one. Oh well.
-
Try a new tv?
-
FFX has the bars on the bottom and top...they made it that way............
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:

it actually normal
Your TV is a good tv with small overscanning. (if anybody here is an expert knows what i am saying).
bad tv overscan a lot. That\'s why you don\'t see borders. Good one doesn\'t overscan much, my tv only overscan about 3% because i tweak and adjust it while some tv have 10% overscan and over.
3% overscan or under is great for watching broadcast and DVD movies.
only video games have borders because they\'re underscan. Only if there are some options in the video games like screen centering and stretching/shrinking the size of the screen.
But i haven\'t found one with size option. only screen centering.
s-video cable won\'t make any differences.
So is component for that matter.
the programmer that made the game had underscan the vidoegames. Either they didn\'t know that or didn\'t bother fixing it.
I played all video games, even watching ads on tv.
All games from XBOX, PS2, and GCube are underscan. I can see borders in the tv commercials of the games.
Some videogames have a very bad underscan like FFX.
Another reason why all games are underscan is probably the director/programmer didn\'t know what tv you have. Almost all tv are overscan, about 10% or of the image is missing. Because of that, developers have to underscan about 5 - 15% of the games so you can see the whole screen on even a bad overscan tv.
My tv was about 10% overscan when i first bought. with my remote control, i adjust the screen till it\'s only about 3% overscan. Now i can enjoy dvd movies, and broadcast more.
hope i clear that up well enough and didn\'t lose anybody.

I am an American and I can see black borders on all four corners of FFX. Especially the top and the bottom of the screen. There\'s like 6% borders on top and bottom of FFX. European FFX is worst. the screen is like 15% underscan on both top and bottom. it make the everything and everybody looks fat.
Computer video games is a bit easier, you can adjust the screen size with the menu of the monitor.

Cheers Paul.
How do you overscan your tv to solve the problem?
-
why bother overscanning your tv for?
my tv was 3% overscan and i leave it at that. best if tv were 0% overscan. In that way, you can see all the image from dvd and broadcast. but it\'s hard because the geometry of the screen isn\'t perfectly straight. there will be borders if it 0%.
i play games with borders and i was like what the heck. i don\'t have time to overscan and underscan it again when switching different games or watching broadcast or video...
