This could be the first 2 screens from the game on the internet
They are from a mag

It appears to be cellshaded.
It would fit the series, DQ7 used sprites all the way.
Except enviroments
Quiter says that those images come from next week\'s Jump (and were taken with a cellphone camera), on a one page article about Dragon Quest VIII. Also points out that you can see the bottom of the letters "PS2" in one of the screenshots. Mentions there are some comments from Yuji Horii, and that there is also an article on Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart for GBA. They say that Keifer (from DQ7!) is the main hero.

I just can not get excited about any Japanese RPG\'s
I need a radically different action based non anime charater sytled RPG set in worlds that don\'t follow typical stereotyped Fantasy lands
I wish some company would make a solid RPG cut from a different mold, but I guess its about the money and franchises. There sure has\'t been many of these types of games on the PS2 besides the Summoner series, which I enjoy, but they fall short of greatness

I\'m begging for my dream RPG, and no one seems to want to make it for me. I\'d do it myself but I can\'t afford such a drastic career change

They just pin all their hopes on the MEGATON annoucment..
god knows what will happen if that turns out to be a dud. ;)
Besides, only the most jaded of gamers thought that it would be on a system other then the ps2 in the first place.
So take your comments elsewhere.. although there is not much to discuss about the game and its 2 cell phone pictures :D
