Which is Greater ?
Resident Evil ?
Or
Silent Hill ?
Discuss

I guess it depends on what you prefer? I think Silent Hill is much more crepier... I did enjoy the storyline of the RE eries though...
-
silent hill
too many RE\'s and the stories are all the same
-
Resident Evil
RE1 > SH1
RE2 > SH2
Then there are more RE\'s.
-
Resident Evil.
Silent Hill has obsecure and stupid puzzles (RE does too - just not as many). The characters are more interesting. The zombie\'s rock, unlike SH where character design is just plain terrible.
-
Although I like both, I\'m going to have to go with RE. I don\'t have any real reason for it, I just like RE a little better.
:alien:
-
Silent Hill, definitely.
Unlike the Resident Evil series, SH actually throws you into a world where you feel like you must "survive the horror." When you\'re controlling a skilled member of an elite police force, with rocket launchers, gatling guns, and flame throwers at your disposal, I don\'t really get that same feeling...
-
I\'d say RE. Not played SH2, and The draw distance on SH1 pissed me off, I prefered the indoory feel of the RE series on psone, not really played either of the series on ps2
-
SH2 hands down. that game really gave me some chills, resident evil is good too, but it doesnt come close to silent hill, in my opinion
-
never play either so i didn\'t vote....hehe...
-
Silent Hill 2, the game freaked me out and the graphics had a gritty, raunchy look that was disturbing. The music intesified the creepy feeling throughout the game.
-
Silent Hill1.Scary all the time. Not just a few surprising moments. The sound was creepier. And it\'s surprising moments(like the elevator at the hospital, and the cat at the school) were millions more creative than the ones of Resi.It was like a living nightmare.
In RE the main thread were the zompies. In SH it was everything.Satanic unexplained forces. The fog.The shadows. The night. The alternate world. The story behind the town and each location(it made u imagine things). The objects around u.The sounds. The different phenomenons.Konami simply knew the tricks your subconscious plays to u to get u scared and worried when you are alone at nights.

still to get SH1 might ask Miss Money penny to get it for me for X mas along with Parasite Eve 2
anyway back to SH the second one was a heck of a lot scaryer Esp the fact that danger could come from alsmos anywere.
unlike slow stumbeling zombies in Resident Evil
Shame on Capcom for dragging a series out far beyond its shelf life
if they wanted to do RE3 Nemisis then they should of revised the whole system and given us the player some fresh fear.
-
Silent Hill 2 wasn\'t scary.... at all.
Silent Hill 1 was scary as all hell though. Which is why SH2 was so disappointing.
-
Silent Hill was an amazing game. Silent Hill 2 was a pile of dog crap.
As for RE being beyond it\'s shelf life. It still has a lot in it - if nothing else graphics wise. Not to mention Capcom seems dedicated to evoling the series slowly, as demostrated by RE0 and soon RE4 - which is suppose to be a complete evolution of the RE series.

/me vomits
yeah 0% improvement or inovation Gameplay or control wise
RE= same old same old
yeah and RE:CV was a great step in the evolution of the series
sorry LIC buddy but that has to of been the first RE game i haven\'t completed because i found it BORING as hell
RE = Superb
RE2 = Even better
RE3= what a let down
RE:CV = i played the devil may cry demo more
yes RE0 & 4 (even RE online ps2) will have a welcome change in the series but for me its already starting to smell a little like Tomb Raider.
with minimal improments just for higher number on the end of the title.
lets hope RE0 , 4 and Online change that :D

There was innovation (for the series) in both RE:Nemesis, and Code Veronica.
In fact, the series has evolved, a little, through each iteration.
What innovation did Silent Hill 2 bring over Silent Hill 1? What innovation will Silent Hill 3 bring over Silent Hill 2?
-
Prehaps if you would of played the superior version of Code Veronica (See: DC) - you\'d realize how great it truly was. It took the series in the world of polygons and what not. It wasn\'t as much as an evolution as RE3 or RE0. Both of those games brought signifcant changes to the series, some for the better and some for the worse. Either way, the series has changed. Infact, if you look at each Resident Evil game , you will see how each one had a new feature or evoled the gameplay slightly. Capcom always takes their series and tinkers them to perfection. They done this with Street Fighter also .
I personally don\'t care for RE0\'s changes - but there is no denying that Capcom does take their time and make the series fresher.
Furthermore, the point of a sequel is to maintain the same style of gameplay (for the most part) and simply improve upon the formula that was previously succesful. Otherwise you would alienate a complete audience who bought the sequel hopin\' for more of the same.
Silent Hill on the other hand, like Bobby said, hasn\'t changed any in the sequels.
-
The greatness of RE compeled me to vote for Resident Evil. Oh, and on a sidenote. RE > RE2
-
I prefer RE over RE2 too.
-
RE2 would kick any slient hill game\'s ass
-
But everytime RE2 kicks SH\'s ass RE2 falls off the bed and wakes up:D
-
Wank Wank, don\'t like either.
-
You Sir, have been pushing your limits and been flirting with a banning, but for not liking either, I think a banning should be inforced!
:D
-
All around I would say Silent Hill, it gives better effects of where you are. Resident Evil was a little more of an action game, which isnt bad and I still like the series but Silent Hill takes it down.
*starts getting flashbacks of long dark nights playing SH.*
-
Long nightmarish nights
-
Yea those Silent Hill nights were no joke. Sitting at the edge of my couch, dark as hell, sound turned up... Then I hear something but I cant see where it is or what it is. Then I turn around a corner slowly and carefully and BAM, something lunges at me out of nowhere. Crazy stuff.
It also had some disturbing scenes, specially if you like a 6 year old boy playing. haha
-
the apartment buildings in SH2 absolutly 0wn3d! I remember seeing the dead guy in his chair, and being wary as hell the entire time in that room. And another great time was hiding in the closet when the pyramid head was raping some monsters, I liked the scaryness and I liked the raping!

-
Yeah, the Pyramid Head rape scene was quite disturbing!
