Post by: ooseven on December 06, 2002, 04:32:20 AM: Yup stand back I am a man on the Edge and i am within a rats Ball hair of telling my superiors (sorry i quit) and then to tell the people bothering me that they can bend over and stick their opinions right up their FAT Arse.

and before you X box fans celebrate no I am not talking about mod’n here at the PSX2C

I am talking about my PhD post at Glasgow Caledonian University.

You see for the past 2 months I have been researching (into Nano-materials) and I have to the most part enjoying the whole experience and I have a superb Supervisor (my Boos) …but

I am on the receiving end of both Scientific Snobbery and Reverse Snobbery which is making my working life a nightmare (its enough to drive you to drink)

Ok here is the deal I am getting Reverse Snobbery from some of the Technicians who say I shouldn’t be in the position that I am in.
Which is a daily personal insult of what I have fought so hard to achieve the past 5 years

And I am getting Snobbery from 1 or 2 of the lectures (within my new Department) who say I may have the qualifications and have earned my position, but question the credibility of my Mentor (who used to be with their department)

Which hurts me as I deeply respect the man they criticise

Anyway the whole thing is worse than kinder garden (sp) with Dr’s and Technicians acting like 4 year olds on a temper tantrum

Anyway I am going for lunch and I’ll try and cool off.

Don\'t let jealous pricks get you down, your the one with the in charge position, not them, so who cares. Your the one racking in the doe.

Geez, if I listened to everything people said to me (even just on these bloody forums) then I\'d be a nervous wreck. Just tell yourself your better then them and show them wrong.

Seriously though, don\'t get stressed out about it, just go with it as long as you need to, then when you are in a suitable position to do so, turn round and give it all back, and then some.
