I just recently heard about a movie called Equilibrium. I really want to see this... it\'s supposed to have some very cool action scenes - it stars Christian Bale and Sean Bean. Here are some snipplets from a review I read:
You have to see this film.
This a refreshingly smart and robust film with some of the coolest action scenes you will ever see.
After asking the troops to knock the lights out in the room where the sense offenders have holed up, Preston goes in alone and five minutes into Equilibrium we are treated to a unique and utterly cool and artistic sequence that should justify the admission price alone. As cool as that scene is, it\'s probably the 5th coolest action sequence in the film.
It\'s not an action film, but it\'s the handful of amazing demonstrations of Gun-Kata that will get them in the door even though a lot of the other scenes may end up being people\'s favorites over the course of time.
It doesn\'t hurt that the combat scenes are executed to perfection in the film.
There are a few moments in this film that are going to have you almost shuddering with the coolness you just saw.

I think I will see it, but I don\'t have high expectations. The Hollywood Reporter review was not favorable. They indicated that the script lifts ideas from just about every famous sci fi story and movie you can think of, most notably Farenheit 451, 1984, Brazil, and of course The Matrix.
They also pointed out some of the glaring plot holes, which I won\'t mention in this post. That was something I really liked about The Matrix, which most sci fi/action films lack: internal cohesion, plausability, and a logical plot. I guess I can\'t knock this one until I see it, but that\'s what I\'ve heard about it. It\'s good for me to go into the film with lowered expectations, because then I might be pleasantly surprised.

I saw the trailer for it... it looks amazing.
I\'ve never seena single ad on it though... wonder why they aren\'t advertising.

I went to see the trailer at apple.com because of this thread. I really want to see this movie. Never even heard of it until today.

Never heard of it, but Im going to look into it..
Me and my brother has been buying movies like crazy this month.
Plus we just got Digital TV (Canal + Digital) so now I can watch all the movie (and porn) channels! :D

I\'ve never heard of it either. However, all the reviews I looked at really only had bad things to say about it. I might see it, but I\'m not at all sure.

I hadn\'t heard about it either, so that\'s why I figured I\'d mention it here. At least more people will hear about it and can make up their own mind about whether or not they think it sounds interesting.
Personally the positive things outweighs the negative for me. So I\'ll watch it for the action alone - that I like sci-fi is just another bonus. :)
However, as I said before, I think it sounds interesting and wanted to give more people the opportunity to hear about it.

Too bad Dimension Film isn\'t going to promote this movie, it\'s just left to die unnoticed. A shame indeed, because it sounds like it can work if you let it. And the action sounds amazing. :eek: :(

this movie, is the m*ther F*ck\'n MAN! This movie has a kick ass story, great acting, unexpeted twists and possibly the best action scenes evar! The final scene with the hand to hand-hand gun fight was amazing. And the gun play is terrific. This is a must see, after seeing it I now spit on the Matrix.

It probably copied 1984 far more than it did the Matrix.
Actually, I\'d say it was about 50/50 when you consider the action scenes.
That\'s the main problem with Equilibrium. It was kind of fun to watch, and Christian Bale (despite his acting) is a cool protagonist. It was pretty uninspired, but the original parts were neat.
Just hope that you\'re not in the room with any loved ones when you try out the "gun dance"! That\'d be a problem in squad-based combat. :)

the fightscenes were kinda cool and are the only reason I enjoyed this movie cause the storyline was utter crap. Come on, people having no emotions? what is up with that? not only are they all showing them (since it\'s impossible not to...for example: hating people for showing emotions is an emotion too) even if it was possible, it is complete nonsense...
oh...and merry christmas everyone! :)

I liked everything but the middle. I can watch the first 10 minutes and the last 20 minutes all day. Its just that niggling middle that gets me.

You\'re in the minority here, mm. Most people liked the action but didn\'t like the "borrowed plot". I saw this a while back as well.
